New Horizon Recovery Reviews

So initial intake was fine with owner Tina and medical nurse when i arrived. i was told id be medically detoxed and monitored, which i was not. the nurse is actually never there. instead i had a man named Nate owe appearently owns board shorts and has a horrible deamor like using foul laugage and degrades the clients. he also would not let me use the house phone for the first two weeks to contact family to let them know my whereabouts. i left because of sexism and favoritism towards the male clients.

after 30 days i had had enough, nothing changed after several grievances to the counseling staff that comes daily. the day i chose to leave i approached Nate about retrieving my cell phone and wallet (which are in a safe in his bedroom) but he refused. also claiming that Tina said i could pick my belongings up at their office, which is non-existent....ive called multiple times to try to get my things and Tina the owner would pretend to be someone else to avoid me. If you are looking for a legit rehab, NEW HORIZONS is not the place. safe yourself the money and hassle of dealing with these people.

Based on my experience with New Horizon Recovery, I would NOT recommend it. Their advertisements are deceptive. They do NOT have a staff of doctors, psychiatrists etc. working at the facility, as they promote on the website. There is no daily schedule. They do not offer a comprehensive treatment program. In reality, every counselor brings their own material, making it is very haphazard. They promote that they are a "social model community". This means that the burden of recovery is on YOUR shoulders. The social model is used by state-funded treatment programs (that are free of charge in San Diego) because those places can't afford intensive one-on-one counseling, yet this place charges $15,000. Despite charging so much, New Horizon Recovery does not have a trained person doing the intake on you. It is done by the owner, who has no credentials. Totally unprofessional. Totally scary.
