Back in Feburary of 2020, I won a firearm from a seller on gunbroker.com who happened to live in a town just 30 minutes away from me.

Some of my (name witheld) buddies at my local range told me that there were some gun law changes in 2020 and we needed to use an FFL to do private party transfers now, they suggested I go on nevadashooters.com to ask for a good and cheap FFL that'll do the transfer.

I got a response from a couple of users and they recommended an FFL in Vegas that was on nevadashooters.com's "prefered list". But it was a long 2 hour drive to him for both of us, and the seller suggested another FFL (I'll call him "local FFL" for privacy) who happened to be in town but his office was also kinda far.

I asked for references to that "local FFL" on nevadashooters.com and was told by a couple of users that I would basically have to travel to their business and do the transfer and it would be better off using nevadashooters.com's "prefered FFL".

This shoulda been a red flag, but I didn't ask enough questions and (a long story short) got sold by their shills and went with that "prefered FFL". I ended up wasting about $100 more in gas, sellers' gas I had to cover, taxes, etc.

I went back on to the site to talk about my experience and was told (by someone who actually KNOWS the law this time!) that my "local FFL" was right! that we didn't have to travel to an FFL's office and waste all the gas and time.

Basically I learned things the hard expensive way. Nevada law does require a FFL to do the transfer but doesn't actually require the FFL to do it in the same way as a "Federal" or "Interstate" transaction. You simply just need the FFL to do the paperwork and run the background check, you don't have to waste all that time and gas to clogg up the highways.

At that point, I was livid, I got ripped off and lied to, several of the users who shilled that Vegas FFL tried to then "play lawyer" and made all sorts of ridiculously false legal takes.

I talked to a real lawyer, one from a legit major firm, to confirm that I didn't have to do all that nonsense. Also I was never asked for my CCW exemption either by that Vegas FFL, which I strongly suspect is in on this whole collaboration.

I also confirmed with several real lawyers that CCW holders are still exempted from background checks are still in effect in 2020. Something I was blatantly lied to by multiple fake lawyers on that site.

When I got home and went online to confront those shills, I found that a lot of their posts and threads were conviently deleted!!!

I then wrote a post (which I should have typed offline and saved) asking about just that, but not a second later that got deleted too!

The whole site seems to be filled with fake wanna be lawyers and shills who try to mislead unsuspecting folk to use their prefered FFLs. It's all about getting business.

Never trust legal advice from someone online, especially a "keyboard warror" who seems to be a shill!

FFLs are also not lawyers either, many of nevadashooter's "prefered FFLs" told me things that my real lawyer said were just flat out wrong, they'll say anything to get more money from you, "you need to pay this tax, that tax, you need to do this check, that check, which costs more, and drive here, drive there".

Don't fall for it! Only take legal advice from REAL lawyers, not some Internet site and their shills.
