Some backstory: We used this company to replace our roof. We agreed on a price (the amount of insurance money we were given). We were told it would take 3 weeks for our roof to be done. We called after 4 weeks and no one called us back. We called again and they said we were sixth in line (there had been a lot of rain, understandable). Then we never heard from them. We called 3 weeks later. No response. Called AGAIN and they said we were sixth in line (did they not do any rooves in those 3 weeks?!)
We said we wanted a refund (we'd already paid a deposit) and they said they wouldn't give us our money back. It's a 10% fee for canceling. We finally talked to the owner, who said he'd have the roof done in a week. They didn't start until 8 days later (really pushing it there) but we let it slide. When we originally talked to the salesman he said they'd also do the inside ceilings. When they came to fix the roof they had no idea they were supposed to do the inside ceilings as well, so we had to schedule that for another day.
The owner stopped responding to our text messages. We got ahold of another guy that said they'd be here at 3pm on Monday (This is THREE months after initially signing the contract and they said it would be done in 3 weeks) and no one ever showed up. We had to call him again and they finally got someone to come Tuesday morning. They didn't know they were supposed to patch the ceiling, didn't have any paint or anything. There was some miscommunication over what happened next: they say they told us they would paint the whole ceiling and that it would look bad if they didn't. What we understood was that painting the whole ceiling would be a big huge project so we said they didn't have to. What we ended up with was a 3x3 square of brown/gray paint on our ceiling. It's ridiculous.
So after all of that, they wanted to pick up the final check IMMEDIATELY. We told them we really wanted a discount because of everything we'd been through. The guy yelled at me, threatened to put a lien on our house, and said he'd turn me in for committing insurance fraud (which is ridiculously untrue).
They eventually agreed on a discount. When they came to pick up the check they made my husband sign a paper saying he wouldn't leave any bad reviews (which is illegal to do- Consumer Fairness Act of 2016). I called them to talk to them about that, saying they can't tell us not to leave bad reviews.
The owner of the company, David Boggs, yelled at me and my husband, insulted us, told us we were "ungrateful", said if we posted bad reviews they'd sic their lawyers on us, and then hung up on both of us (at different times). They refused to sign anything saying we paid them in full (with the discount) and kept trying to threaten us, saying if we left any bad reviews they'd put a lien on our house, even though we paid them an agreed upon price.
A little googling will show you they're being sued in Florida for not doing work they said they'd do and the owner, David Boggs, has been sued other times as well. This is just a really terrible company and I hope no one else ever has to experience this!!
