In response to William of Federal Way, WA. We too purchased Resorts West here in Wa. state. And like you we loved being able to drive to the many resorts and not have to pay for plane fare or hours of driving.
We paid all our maintenance fees and special assessments and used the resorts. We have reached that time in our lives where we are no longer able to travel.
So we decided to sell. No way was that going to happen. Being foolish I signed with a company to transfer ownership. They have been trying to accomplish that but since the by-laws now state a membership may not be sold or transferred to a corporation, LLC, partnership or other form of business association VRI refuses to accept the transfer.
A copy of these by-laws were sent to me in response to our attempts to get out from under this debt. It's funny we never got any copies of the new by-laws before this all came up. They have enlisted the help of a collection agency for last years maintenance fees which I thought would have been paid. The fact that they will not recognize the transfer the fees remain in our name.
I am sure there are more people in the same position. I am continuing to work to resolve this issue but I am not sure who I am dealing with, is it MROP or VRI or ??? Do we really still have 6 resorts left? I get no info at all now.
