MoviePass Reviews

  • Apr 4, 2019

For 3 months now the app on my wife phone does not seem to loads the movies to pick from. I even got her a new phone thinking that might be the problem. Wrong. It all falls on MoviePass. They tell me that it is on the 2nd tier app supporrt to correct but that was over 2 months ago.

It is now at the point that it is so frustrating and stressful to try and use the app I want the $ paid back but there is no avenue to get that done. THEY ARE A SCAM and I beleive they due this to discourage usage which reduces their cost- HENCE they might stay alive a little longer. DO NOT BET INTO THE MOVIEPASS HAND !

My wife and I used our Movie Pass cards satisfactorially in Feb and March of this year but, abruptly, when we tried to log into the cellphone app (as required by the company to use it's product) we got a message that the company had no record of anyone "with your credentials".

I have repeatedly emailed the company with requests for information about this problem and have asked them to either fix the problem or tell me how to do so. I have either been ignored or been referred to a "FAQ" which had no bearing on my problem.

The company web site does not offer a phone number or an opportunity to "chat" with customer service.

After my 8-9th complaint email, today, I got an email containing a phone number to call for customer support. All calls resulted in listening to a recorded message telling me to call back at a later time.

This company appears to have no intention of consistently providing the service they sell. They claim to offer customer support but it is simply an automated referral to FAQ's with no interest in learning about or resolving the problems it's customers are having.

"Frustrations R Us" would be a better name for this company.

I have receive from American Express for 1/12/2018 payment. When pass didn't arrive via mail, I emailed company using help feature asking for pass. No response. On 5/8/2018, contacted company to again request a pass. No response

https://www.moviepass.com has failed after repeated attempts (tickets: 1343119, 1163485) to send a MoviePass card rendering the service useless in my area.

Three months and twenty days later and still unable to use the service. I am now demanding a four-month extension of my 1-year service. If this company actually wanted to allow people to use the service they would allow printing of the card online.

I have received zero services for the money I have paid in.

My wife and I went to go see a movie with our movie pass cards. The app would not check us in so we were forced to pay out of pocket for each of our tickets. I have written into to Movie Pass's customer service many times including the CEO Mitch with no response at all.

After registering my purchases, we received emails indicating MoviePass cards had been mailed. Only one card was delivered by USPS. Since Jan 29, 2018, I have repeatedly sent messages via the website and mobile app but have never received anything other than automatic replies. The phone number to call on the MoviePass card does not connect to any human being ... only a recoding that refers you to the FAQs on the website. Worst customer service experience. EVER!! Will try demanding help from Costco, but not holding my breath.

I did a movie pass for myself in november and had no problems. I decided to give moviepass 3 month gift passes to two of my family members and the problems began. they could not redeem them, they would get error 170 than after 8-10 emails to them only one of the passes let him register but not use or even recieve a card. the other gift card still does not work getting error 170. nither work and I have sent over 20 emails and IM's to no avail and even gave them the email of both of the reciepients and all the information. than after 3 months of complaining they shut off my moviepass, not the two that don't work but the only one that did. they punished me for being a pain in the a*s with the 60.00 they stole from me. I have filed a report with my credit card but the other one was my atm card so I am out. oh and they do not have a phone number that works it just tells you go go online. it is a scam.

I have paid for 2 subscriptions to this service on 11/16/2017 in 11/18/2017. I have PayPal reciepts that i gave forward. I have written 4 times got nothing but a response from a generic "Zen desk". They keep saying they're gonna send me the cards. I have nothing from them, yet they have my money. I have heard great things about their service once you get your cards but yet I have not received to take advantage of this service would really like a resolution on this matter.

I paid $10 to Moviepass over a month ago, but they never delivered the card that I ordered. I made multiple attempts to contact their customer service through phone calls, emails, and mobile app, but they are unreachable. Ultimately I resorted to contacting their CEO, Stacy Spikes, at his home.

Mr Spikes, assured me that my card would be delivered by October 10, but it never was. He also had somebody call me named Mellissa, who said that the cards are printed by a third party company, who are unable to track delivery or provide any information. They have strung me along for over a month, and I believe this is a scam. In this day and age, it does not take more than a month to print something and deliver it within the United States, no matter how backlogged they are.

Additionally, after researching the company online, I learned that Moviepass is facing a lawsuit by AMC Theaters for defrauding their customers. Apparently, Moviepass started as a legitimate company in 2011, selling movie memberships for $50 a month, and AMC became a partner. Not many people purchased memberships, so Moviepass lost a ton of money. Then suspiciously, a few months ago they lowered the price to $10 a month.

AMC immediately ended the partnership, and issued a public announcement warning people about Moviepass. They alledged that Moviepass lowered the price in order to manipulate millions of people to pay the fee, and provide all of their personal credit info, with no intention of delivering anything to the customers. And from what I see online, it seems like the only people who have received cards are members of the media, and the original customers from years ago.

Needless to say, I will be filing a compalint with the FBI, FTC, and the NY Attorney General's office.
