This web designer, Mike, is unethical. He is threatening and slandering my business, and insulting my character.
My company hired Mike this past August to do website updates to my current site. He stated I needed a new site, home page slider, etc., since my current site would not allow such changes. After lengthy discussions and his pressing the issue of the new site, I agreed—with one stipulation: as long as this new site looks just like my current site, other than adding the slider and changing out our current logo.
We did not touch base for a few weeks, then October 20th I politely requested a refund for the staged site as I could see we were on a different page and this was not going to turn out right. He had few great ideas I acknowledged, but they were, again, not what I was after. He refused the refund and continued to request to keep fixing the website.
At that time I called my credit card company and disputed the charge.
After he received the notification of the chargeback, he sent threats to attack my SEO submissions. Then yesterday morning, October 21st—unauthorized—he got back into the dashboard of my current site and changed it to the blog of the staged site.
I called the host company had the original site reinstated. That same evening, I checked my site and saw a blank screen. I called the host company and they helped me hopefully block his ability to access the dashboard.
This morning, October 22nd, when I was checking my email, I received a notice from the host company that they had cancelled my site! Someone had put a total cancellation of my website! My website was down again.
Mike’s actions are negatively affecting my business, for having a site down on a Saturday can cause a huge loss of revenue. He has also posted horrible reviews on Facebook / Yelp about my character and business.
I have received these quotes from him in emails he has sent me over the past 2 days:
"The engineer and I have discussed multiple SEO submissions that will call attention to the way you do business and your overall character. These are configured to come up when anyone uses your current keyword selections and your site is among the ones returned in the search. It will come up just before highlighted in call out colors. Be assured that each submission will be well written, poignant and entirely truthful."
"Make sure you don’t slander me by ever saying that publicly because if I feel that my business is even slightly affected the shoe will quickly be on the other foot."
Beware and be careful when dealing with this company!
