BAD Contractor

his company charged me 7400.00 for a new HVAC unit installation -A day after completion i was contacted by police that they had dumped my old condensor unit in the river behind my house. They only removed it after being threatened with charges by the police. I have screenshopts of the text exchanges with them regarding this and pictures of condensor marked with my unit # in the river -There was no heating element installed and they refused to install one. I have receipts from another installer for the installation of heating element and a picture of the empty space where it was supposed to be -After 3 days the ac unit did not work , after they refused to come back i had another company fix it , they had saudered pipes incorrectly and all the freon had leaked out . Again i have screensots of the texts exchanged with company regarding this. - i found out my manufacturer warranty would not be honored due to improper installation -on my estimate it states that unit would be energy efficient and eligible for a rebate. the unit they installed did not meet the requirements for a rebate - I had to hire an electrician to fix the improper wiring they had done. I have receipts for this and pictures of the wiring issues -I wish I had discovered all this before I paid them the final payment

Taking advantage of elderly

MH Mechanical Inc. was hired to repair my home Air Conditioner. They started by cleaning the outside unit with an Acid wash. One of the men went into my attic to inspect the unit there and come out of the attic and said I needed two condensation lines cleared at $ 125 each. He went back into the attic and said I had big problems with the drain line and they could repair it for $ 400. I told them I didn't have the money for that. **** the owner said he could bill me. Then the owner **** said maybe we could use some PVC to repair it but they would have to go to Lowes (2 miles away) to get parts. One hour and 45 minutes later they returned with several pieces of PVC pipe . **** glued several pieces together, went into the attic and after 5 minutes came out of the attic and said it was fixed. It would be very difficult for me to check on the work they completed as I am older and it would involve me entering the space which is difficult for me to do at my age. They billed me and charged $ 760 dollars an amount which I thought was excessive. I paid by check and they left. I was not comfortable with the experience I had with them. The next day I , as difficult as it was for me , I put up a ladder and entered the attic space. What I found was unbelievable, the PVC piping he took into the attach was laying on top of the insulation not attached to anything. I tried to look for the condensation lines they said needed clearing but I could not locate them. I don't know if they even exist. They are in no way professional or honest. How do you tell someone they need work done, go into an attic appearing as though you are going fix a problem then leave the just laying out on top of insulation. Pathetic to do that to old people. No conscience !!!!!

In this state, a Master Plumber, Gasfitter license is required of an individual to pull permits. I did specifically address this of the person whom I was hiring. I am a tradesman and contractor. I know the practices and procedures of these professional licensed trades. Michael Hughes came to my house and represented himself as a master licensed plumber/gasfitter. Granted, a contract was agreed upon, a deposit given for a specific install and and labor performed. Two days later, a shipment of supplies show up as previously discussed. Upon receiving these supplies, I notice the most obvious red flags going up... He mostly ordered the wrong materials, way over priced items that I immediately recognized. In addition of install materials, he ordered a personal tool on my deposit invoice. A tool value of approximately $400. First of all, you don't do these things as a professional. Secondly, if you were already doing such installallations, you wouldn't need this tool. Immediately, I called him and had a discussion regarding the wrong materials, the personal tool purchased, and most importantly, why ? The answer I received was, in regards of the materials purchased was because it would be easier and faster for him to install the heating system. When someone like myself, knowledgeable of building supplies and products spends $9,500, you are looking for quality, price point/budget, etc. not for a plumber to tell you that his reasoning was because "it's easier and faster" for him to get the job done. Immediately I went to the internet to research this individual. What I learned was horrifying to say the least. Many complaints very similar to mine, and nearly all of them unresolved to this date. In addition, I called the state licensing board, and too, find out that his name is not entered into the database as ever having a professional license to install nor sign off on the inspection, which is required by law. I do warn everyone, please read the many complaints and reviews that this man has. Currently I am working with local authorities to investigate with possible criminal charges. This man operates right on the thin line, taking your money, bad jobs, etc. just enough to skirt criminal judgment, making it a consumer complaint that never gets resolved and money out of your pocket.

Contact local media

Someone should contact one of the local consumer reporters, such as Help Me Hank. The state licensing board knows about his illegal work, yet he continues to work.

I'm also a victim; I'd like to talk

I am also a victim of his work and have just been involved in a legal case against Mr Hughes where he was found guilty. I'd like to talk to you and share my story. You can email me at amc7117 @ gmail .com.

Contact local media

Someone should contact the local media, such as Help Me Hank on channel 7 or any other local consumer reporter. He keeps getting away with ripping people off. The state licensing board knows about his actions, yet he continues.

Contact local news

Someone should contact Help Me Hank from channel 7 or any other of the local news consumer reporters. He has done this to too many people. He has been reported to the state, but nothing stops him from continuing his destruction.

BEWARE!!!! DO NOT HIRE MIKE HUGHES! I urge you not to hire MH Mechanical. Below is a list of everything that went wrong with the job Mike did..

The new Oil Line that he installed had a hole in it that we noticed as soon as we filled our oil tank. This caused our whole house to smell like oil for weeks. The fumes caused headaches and even my young children complained about the smell. Due to his lack of response to this issue we had to hire another contractor to come and replace the line. The line also needed to be cemented into the ground in order to bring it up to code.

The Duct work on the Furnace was not correctly installed. It was patched together and not professionally done. We paid for licensed and professional service and did not receive it. The top of the Air Conditioner was not closed off and was allowing cold air to escape, therefore the air-conditioner could not work properly.

THIS LAST ISSUE COULD HAVE BLOWN UP MY HOUSE AND KILLED MY FAMILY! The new Water heater was installed incorrectly. There was a shut off on the hot side of the tank and there was no vacuum breaker on the cold side. Because of this, we were advised that if we had turned the hot water off, the water heater would have exploded due to pressure build up. Your careless and reckless actions put our home and our family in terrible danger and might have resulted in tragic consequences. We are first time home owners and have learned a very hard lesson, but will do everything in our power to help others not get screwed by MIKE HUGHES!
