Merchant's Tire & Auto Centers Reviews

Once a longtime fan of this place, I had my mind changed today.

Car was pulling to the right so I made an appointment with Henry on 5/23/2017 and took it in for evaluation. He says, no alignment needed. Instead I get handed a repair estimate for ... GET THIS .... $2,548.71 to replace two suspension strut assemblies, shock assemblies, shock absorbers, suspension control arms and ball joints, and a suspension stabilizer bar link kit.

Figuring something was wrong, I took it to the Lindsay Lexus service center for a second evaluation on 5/25/2017. IT ONLY NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS FINE -- NO ADDITIONAL WORK needed. So I paid for an alignment at Lindsay Lexus. And the repair technician at Lindsay Lexus told me that Henry put on THREE DIFFERENT types of tires (same brand) when I bought four new tires from him in March.

I am filing a fraud complaint with the Better Business Bureau to demand retribution.

On June 9, 2016, I bought 4 new Simo tires from Merchants Tires. As soon as I left the location, I noticed a bumping or vibration on the tires. I took the car back about a week later and they told me there was too much air in tire -50PSI!!! They said I did it!!! I have arthritis in my hands and couldn't possibly do it and why would I put air in brand new tires?? So, I left the store and ,sure enough, I still had the vibration. I went back a couple of weeks later and the mechanic said they weren't balanced. NO explanation! He also drove the car and felt the vibration. His name was Marco or Mario. The manager I am dealing with thus far is Mark Vaughn. So, I left the location again and still had the vibration in my tires. I went back a couple of weeks later and was very upset. Mark drove the car and felt the vibration and began to take me seriously. He did some research and talked to division manager about replacing the tires. They thought possibly it could be a recall problem from toyota of transmission module of some kind, so I agreed to take the car to Charles Barker Toyota to see if this had been fixed. They said the recall had been taken car of by Charles Barker's toyota. So, I went back to Merchants and there was a new manager. Since that time, I have gotten nowhere! I called their customer support ane talked with Laura who says if I can get proof of a problem from a dealer who is properly certified, they will do something. I responded that Merchants was supposed to be certified and their manger and mechanic recognized the vibration! Laura insisted again that another certified company had to verify. Before that, she sent me to another of their locations and the service manger said that Charles Barker Toyota probably didn't do the recall at all but said they did! He said mechanics do that all the time. He drove my car and felt no vibration. To this, I still have the vibration and bumping in my tires.

I came for a Maryland safety inspection a few weeks ago which costs no more than $80 at most places around. At the end they showed me a list of things they said if I didn't get fixed there they would not pass the inspection. Forced to get two front tires and the wipers replaced and an alignment. Guess how much? Over $500! And the work they did was sloppy. The new wipers they put on scratched my windshield badly and I had to come back another day to get them fixed. I also started hearing weird squealing from the new tires. These people are scammers and robbers. Avoid at all costs. I'm in the middle of filing a lawsuit.

I had a warrenty for four michelin tires. Michelin offered me 75% off of four tires, and told Darren, who is a worker at merchants. Darren however did not give me that information. Darren from merchante store 315 told me the offer was for 25%. Darren then preceeded to try and gouge the remaining estimate between 400.00 to 700.00 dollars. I tried calling the district manager Charles Durcell several times, each call was unsuccesful. I went into the store location for service and Paul refused to honor the quote I had from the store manager. Once I refused to pay more money, Paul through my keys at me and said I cant help you.
