Marvin Windows and Doors Reviews

  • Dec 2, 2015

I Have TWO complaints with Marvin windows.

1. I have condensation on my windows.

2. My wood floors and furniture are fading ONE year after installation.

I live in Central Michigan. Our house was built 15 years ago. The spring of 2014 we did a complete exterior remodel on our house and had Marvin new build windows put in.

We replaced Vetter windows in our house due to the fact that I could feel air coming in all around them. We also had an issue with condensation and ice forming on the windows during the winter. This occured from the first year we moved in.

From the start of our renevation process I had many discussions about the condensation with our Marvin rep and my contractor. Both felt that the new Marvin windows will be ALOT better windows than what we had. I also expressed to my rep the importance of having a window that wont fade my floors and furniture.

So I was floored and P***** when the fall of 2014 came and condensation started to form on my $$$ expensive windows! So when I addressed this with my rep and contractor they told me that our house is to tight, it doesn't breathe enough, and the humidity level is to high. Funny I never heard this information when we were discussing the condensation prior to the remodel. Im not quite sold on the humidity thing being the problem and it is still not resolved. I did have a Dehumidifier put on our furnace and it helps only until the outside temperature drops below 30*. But I do have static big time on my clothes so how can my house be humid?

My second complaint on Marvin windows is that I have incurred severe fading on my wood floors and furniture ONE year after installation! I have hard wood floors through out my entire house and my house faces North which means our interior spaces get alot of southern sun exposure. I call it severe because you can see where my jewelry box sits on the dresser along with where my drapes have set on the floor. My windows are the Low E 2 with argon gas windows.

At this point let me say that my wood floors have been in my house since 2008 and the furniture has been in my house just as long. I spoke with my sales rep and the owner of the store back in June on this issue and have yet to hear back from him. So I contacted Marvin and spoke with a lady who told me I had to deal with my sales rep. and completely passed the buck! No accountability whatsoever. What am I to do!? I spent alot on windows and alot on my floors along with all the other things in my house that can and will fade because of these windows. I am just suppose to accept this!!!??? According to what I have read on line the Low E 2 should be sufficient in the area where I live. If this is the case why do I have fading? I shouldn't have to settle with this. Has anyone else had this result?
