On 1/17/2017 I gave Manuel Avila Hernandez a check for $3700 to build and install kitchen cabinets. After the job was completed I was to give him another $3700. He promised my wife he would be finished by mid February because he had another job to do. He continued to schedule times when he was going to install the cabinets and he would fail to show. One day in particular he never showed up and sent me a text picture of a ticket he got for driving with expired tags and not having a valid drivers license. I offered to pay him some money to just come pick up the cabinets and I would go ahead and install them myself. He never responded to my offer. Finally a month later he agreed to bring out the cabinets and install them. I told him I would come to his shop and help him transport them since I didn't want him to get in more trouble by driving without a license. When I showed up at his shop he was still working on painting the cabinets and when he showed me the pantry I told him it was too tall and wouldn't fit in my kitchen so once again the install was delayed. Finally a date was set for him to install the cabinets.
Friday, March 17th. I took off work that day because I wanted to be around to make sure everything went smoothly. He agreed to be at my house at 8:30 am and at 8:25 he sent me a text stating he had to get a tire repaired and would be there soon. Finally at 10:30 am I call him asking where he is. He states he is in Belton and will be there soon. Belton is 20 min away. Finally at 11:30 he arrives and I begin inspecting the cabinets. Some of the cabinets were made with wood rotten plywood which was painted and I took out a tape measure and the dimentions of the cabinets were off by as much as 1/2". Also there was no doors or drawers. He said they would be a few more days. There was no way I was going to allow him to install rotten wood cabinets without doors or drawers so I told him I did not want these cabinets installed in my house and in instructed him to remove them from my property. He left half the cabinets behind and told me he would refund my money the following Tuesday. He never came back and when I texted him about my money and removing the rest of the cabinets he said he was going to talk to his lawyer first.
