Through their confusing interface I was tricked into renewing a phone number I do not want in addition to one I use. They cannot or will not remove an unused number to avoid confusion. The devices for renewal are not listed by phone number but by an obscure device number.

They refuse to refund the money now. The unwanted number still does not work even after I was charged for it. I tried a chargeback and they responded to the bank with false information. They keep insisting that I verify my account information which I did 3 times now. They now want an additional reinstatement fee after the chargeback request.

They insist this was on autorenew yet neither number renewed. I paid online because it stopped working and the other one was not in use. After paying for both there is no renewal charge in addition, only the charges I paid online.

I started by calling them and the support was useless. I tried a chargeback with Chase but they claimed it was two charges and not a double billing and turned it down. They will not reconsider it as an unwanted charge or as a service not being provided. Magicjack also told them it was an autorenew.

I have also disputed through Florida Better Business Bureau but they just respond with the same diversions and excuses.

Once you pay money to this company you will not get it back, whether or not there is a mis-charge and whether or not they provide the service. They may ask for additional fees such as "reinstatement". This was a good product and company at one time but they seem to have fallen into desperation now, and there are surely better alternatives these days.

I regretfully strongly recommend you avoid this company at this point.

I have been a magic jack customer since about 2005. In 2007 I bought Magic jack plus which recently began to malfuction. I bought an open box unit from a secondary retailer and discovered it cant be re-registered under my current account which has tmie left until 7/24. I asked if I bought new unit could my time be transfered to that unit Tech/billing advised me that could not be done nor could a refund of remaining time. So in essence I feel I am being ripped off for remainng time left as no other clear cut way to use my remaining time can be offered no resolution.

I purchased a one year plan. From day one, the service did not work. Texted and talked with someone from their technical support department and was told my unit does not work! He said i need a new unit. Call customer service, said i have to pay $25 for new unit. But i just paid $45.10 for a service that i could never use! So i was told customer support would call me in 2 days, and im still waiting 2 weeks later!!!

Just called again. They cancelled my account but said due to their agreement, i cannot receive a refund, even though their site says you have 30 days to claim a refund. It's been 2.5 weeks. They are ripping me off!! This is the WORST company I've ever dealt with!!

MJ demands you pay up front, which is acceptable. However, after having 2 locations where MJ did not work, due to internet problems, I wanted assurance they would refund the money if, for the 3rd. time, it did not work. Three employees, ending with Nell in billing in the Phillipines, said they could not/ would not guarantee service works and I would lose the annual fee. There was no assurance of a refund, only a suggestion that I could put in a request which may or may not be granted.

Most reputable companies do warantee their service or item. Scammers usually take your money and run, leaving the customer without what they think they are paying for.

On 07/28/2020 I had ordered a MagicJack home device on their website. I got an order confirmation and order # from MagicJack after I had placed the order. They also provided me a tracking #. The MagicJack Home device had came to my local post office on Saturday, 08/01/2020. According to my tracking information, it was sent back to the sender for insuffient address. When I had went to my local post office on 08/03/2020 the supervisor had showed me a picture of the item.

It had my address on it except my apartment # was not on the item. I do not know why did MagicJack fail to include my apartment # when they had shipped me the device because I had included the apartment # in it when I had placed my order on their website. When MagicJack had sent me an order confirmation, my apartment # was included in my address too. I had called MagicJack about this issue. The customer service representative had told me that I should get the item by 08/07/2020 and my tracking # is still the same.

I had noticed that information with that same tracking # showed the item was in Jackson, MS & now have been in Grenada, MS for these past 3 days. When I had called USPS today on 08/05/2020, they had told me that the reason why the item have been was sent to Jackson, MS and have been in Grenada, MS for these past few days is because it is in the process of being sent back to the sender. When I had told USPS that they said my tracking # is still the same and I should receive the item on 08/07/2020, USPS had told me that tracking # is not the same because they always send the item back to senders with an insufficent address.

USPS told me that the sender would have to provide me a brand new tracking #. I just called MagicJack back today on 08/05/2020. They had told me that I should get my item by 08/07/2020 (10 days). It have my apartment # on it. After I had told her what USPS stated about all of this & that I need a new tracking #. She had something like she cannot provide it or help me with it. She had sent my call to another department.

I repeated all of this information to the other customer service representative. When I had asked her for a new tracking #, she had hung up on me. They need to refund my $67.21 or at least provide me a new tracking # & hurry up and give my MagicJack home device. I really need it.

There customer service people can not understand english. I must had told their rep six times my name and phone number. Then I could not get it thru his thick skull. The first magic jack device has not been used in years. Their system wanted me to pay for the renewal. I just bought a brand new device from walmart. The one from oct 2018. Never worked. I took it back and got my money back. I could not get it thru his brain. I wanted the other two accounts deleted. I was not going to renew them. I paid once and have one device. I am taking the device back and getting my money back. Be warned!!!!!!!!! do not buy!!!!! When I told the agent that it was going back to the store. He said fine we don't want you as a customer.

Magic Jack I called them to provide my new address. They said I need to renew now. I had noticed they had renewal options (1 year, 3 yrs, etc.). I asked about the 1 year. I was told they don't do that. I would need to do the 7 year paid in advance. I explained I did not have the money. He said I could make payments. He had me pay for the 911 service, $11.97, the reason they need accurate addresses. A few days later they called about my payment. Again I explained I did not have it. He transferred me to billing where I was told I needed to pay $139, full payment for 7 years. May not sound like much, but I am on SS disability, a very low income. They turned off my phone that night. They advertise one thing then say it's not available. I think they work on commission. I had been a customer for at least 7 years but I am through with them now. Terrible customer service.

I have just gotten into a fight with the customer DISservice idiots at MagicJack. Calls cut out constantly and therefore does not work well. I have contacted them many times to no avail. The idiot today wanted me to plug the MagicJack into a wall outlet for power. The unit is USB powered by the router or computer. Anyway, I told them that and also that thwey were stupid. Things really got bad from there. I told them what I thought of them and the MJ idiot kept trying to goad me further. She eventually told me she was going to report me to MJ then dicconnected. Stay away from these idiots as they have no clue and are the worst out there. I hope they want to continue the fight. I will win, GUARANTEED!

I used to be an avid advocate of magicjack, a device that allows one to make phone calls through the internet. I have had three (3) magicjack phone numbers: 850725**** (Basic Magicjack), 850725**** (Magicjack Plus) and 850725**** (Magicjack Go). Both the Basic & the Plus connected through a USB to the computer while the Magicjack Go connected both to USB and by RJ45 directly to the router.

Sometime last May, 2015, the Magicjack Plus (850725****) developed a glitch right after I had just renewed it's service. After a lot of complaints and back and forth communications made with the company, they finally admitted that the device was unusable and refunded my renewal payment of $35.00.

In November, 2015, I renewed the services of my Magicjack Go (850725****) and kept on using it as usual without any trouble until the middle of January, 2016 when we had to dismantle my computer and its accessories which includes the Magicjack Go (850725****) in preparation for our move back to the Philippines. Said device was neatly packed in its original packaging and placed in one of our Balikbayan Boxes along with other boxes shipped through UMAC express cargo.

When the box arrived last April 7, 2016 at our Philippine address and I tried using the device Magicjack Go (850725****), it told me that it needed to be renewed. How can that be when I had just renewed it the previous November, 2015? I went online to magicjack.com and found out to my dismay that the phone number indicated on my account was 850725**** (Magicjack Plus)! Again, how can this be when magicjack management themselves concluded last May, 2015 that this device was already unusable and gave me a refund for the renewal fee of $35.00?

This was followed by a series of texting sessions online with various customer service representatives who all gave me the run around. One accused me of changing my own phone number (How could I do that when its done on their website by technical personnel?); another said I accidentally renewed the Magicjack Plus (Again, how can I do that when they themselves concluded that the device was no longer usable?) A girl named Aya or Asa gave me a Reference # 160504-000413) to be used in further calls regarding this problem. I think she just gave me the number just to get rid of me.

I also asked them if it was possible to transfer the service from Magicjack Plus (850725****) to my Magicjack Go (850725****) but they said no. I also asked that if they can't transfer the service from one number to another, then they should refund me for the remaining part of the service. Again, they said no. The last guy I talked to named Liam cut me off while I was still typing my answer to his last question. It is slowly dawning on me that they are just trying to get rid of me and are doing everything to stall until I get tired and stop complaining.

I was able to incur a renewal problem when I tried renewing my magicjack service for another year (2015-2016 November is the month of renewal for my subsription) its the only available VOIP system in my country that I can have aotm so I have been using their service for quite some time. I was able to renew last couple of years with no problems (for 2013-2014 subscription and 2014-2015) then for 2015-2016 I tried putting my credit card information and all of the sudden it tells me that I cannot process the payment because as per Magicjack Representative my account was "flagged" meaning its suspended till its solved by both parties. So I dialed their customer service number and I found out that the problem on my subscription was the card I used 2013-2014 (Mastercard) was used by Magicjack for their AUTORENEWAL service that I TURNED OFF. Then the card Owner (my previous boss) filed a chargeback/dispute for the charging and Magicjack wants me to pay $26.75 for the Reinstatement fee before I can renew my subscription. THey are basically telling me that I should be the one to pay for their mistake because I DID NOT UPDATED my account card details. SO i told the Accounts Review guy that why would you guys still charge a card through an AUTORENEW PROCESSING even though I turned that option OFF??? He cannot answer my question and kepts redirecting the topic to other point until he stopped and said he cannot have me use my subscription again if I AM NOT ABLE TO PAY THE REINSTATEMENT FEE. I wrote this to warn Magicjack users to always check their accounts and turn this option off because even if you renew your card using your own card and has a problem in it, it will automatically file a chargeback and Magicjack will suspend your account and let you pay for it. I feel ripped off because they still managed to AUTORENEW the payment even if i already turned this option off.

I activated Magic Jack Plus on Aug 3 2015. It took them three days to port phone number from Time Warner Cable Once the port completed I discovered an issue when using the Magic Jack service. First issue is they display the phone number only and not the CNAM data. Senond issue is the time is an hour behinnd the currect time. I have chated with Magic Jack they acknowledged the issue and were aware of it but had no plans to fix this issue. They only suggested I go to their suggested features page and request for the correct time to be a feature all I got to say is wow when they said that. They refused to fix issue and would not refund money. I have canceled service and I would recomend other people to stay far away from Magic Jack considering they are a lot of VOIP companies that offer way better service.

On June 15th 2015, I bought a Magic Jack GO with a one year contract. I bought a splitter, as a chat person told me I needed for hooking up the GO MJ. Of course, she didn't know what she wes talking about. I called again to get help hooking it up and was told I needed to pay $149 more to get technical support, according to supervisor Andy. Beware: the five years for $149 is not the same thing as five years of prepaid service. I asked where on the website they explained their product did not come with any technical support and was told there was no mention of zero technical support with the new product. However, there is NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT WITHOUT PAYING ANOTHER $149 FOR HELP TO GET IT GOING.

I have been dealing quite unsuccessfully with MagicJack customer service for 3 days now. I lost service when I installed a new modem/router and used the online help chat. "Margaux" was some what successful in getting the internet connection established but the system was not allowing calls to go through. She said she passed the problem onto "management" who would email me with further directions/instructions. I waited and repeatedly checked but no email appeared. I use the online chat help again, was given instructions which I followed. Still the phone did not accept or send calls. "Denny" then checked the magicjack device and determined it is defective. He referred me to an "expert, Karen" who told me first to return the device to BestBuy for replacement. Of course BestBuy says it is not responsible for defective devices, that is the manufacturer MagicJack. Karen acknolwleges that my magicjack is under warrantee and I have paid for 2 years of service. First, I was told to buy a new device. I refused and insisted the warrantee be honored (free replacement). Next I was told there were fees for free replacement and quotes a range of costs from $13.00 to $49.99 dollars. I insisted on free replacement and was told to read the warrantee which I did and which confirmed free replacement AND that magicJack was the responsible party...so the help chat cut me off. Next I called corporate to complain. Three times the "support person" hung up on me. I have a defective magicjack and no phone service. I refuse to purchase another device. I refuse to pay the 2 or 3 different fees required to get the 'free replacement". MagicJack need to keep its word, be honorable and replace my device OR refund my money including the cost of the device AND pro-rated service charges I have paid.
