Legionnaire Insurance Trust Reviews

My father died in May of 2015 and had a supplemental Health Insurance policy with Legionnaire Insurance Trust, which he joined as a veteran and a member of the American Legion. He had automatic withdrawal of the payment from his bank account. This continued after his death for 15 months. No one knew, even the bank, how to contact them as the payment was posted as AGI along with some numbers. They thought it was American General Insurance--which it was not--but they get calls about it all the time. It was connected with AGIA, which is totally different. Once I somehow figured out it was Legionnaire Insurance Trust, I called them (October of 2016). The first lady I talked to was so nice and even added up the payments to be refunded, as she knew that dead people shouldn't pay health insurance and thought it would be refunded. I was then transfered to someone to take care of it who quickly informed me that they do not refund overpayments of health insurance by dead people. After all, he had the security of having health insurance while he was dead. I told the person that she really had a sucky job to have to tell widows and children of dead veterans that they don't refund money that they take from dead people for health insurance. I asked if there was some benefit of the health insurance that would help him during the last 15 months of being dead--could they uncremate his ashes, and somehow make him healthy again. They said that the health insurance did not cover reanimation or resurrection. I then asked what benefit my dead father would have by having health insurance for 15 months while being deceased. No answer. The silence was deafening. The bottom line, I could appeal the decision, but they never refund it. For that reason, Legionaire Insurance Trust is not trustworthy, but evil. It should have its books audited and pay stiff fines so it doesn't steal from widows and children ever again.

I filed a claim for 5 days in the local hospital for a 5 day stay as soon as I got the hospital bill early in January. They acknowledged receipt of that into in letter just prior to the next two months automatic payment and the second one said their claims department is now handling my claim with a new number for me to contact.

I waited to see if they would take that second premium payment before contacting their claims department and was told they needed an itemized hospital bill still. I have paid into that program over $400 and my claim was for 5 days at which time I was to get cash at $50 a day to help defray costs quickly.

They owe me $250.. so in essence I have lost $150.00. I already sent all the information they required and already told my local American Legion club I will no longer be a member.

On April 20th of this year, I went to a local hospital in my area to have prostate surgery to remove my prostate as I was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer. The surgery went well except two days later I developed a problem with the catheter not draining and ended up in the emergency room at my local hospital to get the catheter replaced. I was then sent to another hospital emergency room the next morning by my doctor to have a CT scan to make sure the catheter was in the right placement.

I waited patiently until June 24th when I had all the bills from the various hospitals and everything I needed to file my cancer claim with Legionaire Insurance Trust or their claims dept. namely AGAI Affinity Services, PO Box 9060, Phoenix, AZ 85068.

I mailed them 14 pages of bills by registered mail to include EVERYTHING from the diagonis last year, all office visits, surgery, hospital stay, emergency room visits, medication, etc., etc. I also included a letter explaining my total experience from beginning to end along with all documentation.

I have patiently been waiting for my check and on July 1st I received a letter from AGIA Affinity Services signed Claims Specialist with no name signed to the bottom of the letter. I was shocked to see what they wrote telling me that they needed the following information to process my claim:

1. Chemothrapy and/or radiation treatment bills that indicate dates and charges.*There was NO chemothrapy or radiation as I HAD MY PROSTATE REMOVED!

2. Anasthesia bill for biospy and surgery for 04.20.2016 from the anesthesiologist with provider name. *THIS WAS INCLUDED WITH MY DOCUMENTATION!

3. An itemized surgeon's bill that includes CPT codes, diagnosis and charges for 04.20.2016. * THIS ALSO WAS INCLUDED WITH MY DOCUMENTATION.

I can now see that I am going to get the "RUN-AROUND" from Legionaire Insurance Trust and their claims dept., AGIA Affinity Services both from Phoenix, AZ.

I need help finding three checks was told we received back in 2009 also 2011 two checks paid to us and not true as we never have received these checks. The information I receive is the company has changed a few times, but they can trace these checks back as to we received them. Now I have a problem as my husband is a disabled veteran and now has sense passed away and now the whole policy has changed as 21 days in nursing home not covered, so many days not covered in hospital VA Hospital's. I need help as this money could help me out with some bills he left behind for me to take care of on my fixed budget. some of the days on the forms I had to collect and send to the co, had from to and they cut like four days off. I am so confussed and would like to have this taken care of as where did the checks back in 2009 amt. of$1,750.82 than 2011(1) check at. $5,670.00 #(2) check at. $3,150.00 total was $10,570.82. That is an great sum to not have gotten. Please try and help me. The widow of Niles. Myron Randall Naomi Smuzeski-Randall.
