Missing Property

I have been waiting for my items for over 8 months now. I was offered $62-$82 adjusted by MovingClaims.net. Now, Legion, Walter Alvarez, stated he was not going to pay me anything!

My move was brokered out to Legion Express through Savannah Van Lines without my knowledge, which left a bad taste in my mouth from the moment I got a confirmation phone call on the day of my move. I tried to give Legion Express the benefit of the doubt when they arrived, but everything went downhill from there.

I was given an arrival window of 10am - noon, and at around 11am I received a phone call indicating the movers would be about an hour late (so a 1pm arrival). After waiting around with no call, I decided to finally call back at 2:15pm, and I was told they were 10 minutes out. They did not arrive until almost 3pm. They didn't have the decency to call and say they would be later than they originally thought. I had to initiate contact, which is frustrating.

My final quote was almost $900 more than my original quote from Savannah Van Lines because one of the movers thought my belongings "looked more like 600 cubic feet instead of 400." Very scientific and convincing.

After accepting the additional charges because we did not have the time to go through another moving company, and we had already surrendered a $500 deposit, the movers did a decent job loading the truck. They were quick, although at times a little careless with some of our belongings.

We were given the standard 2-14 BUSINESS DAY delivery window. Nothing crazy there, as we were moving 1,200 miles. We were also given the "direct" number to an employee who could provide updates on the status and location of our belongings.

We called Legion Express and left numerous messages asking for updates. We called and left multiple messages with Savannah Van Lines asking for updates. It took several days to receive a response from Savannah Van Lines, and the only time we ever heard from Legion Express was a call from the driver to confirm a delivery date that was 4 days away. We were told to expect a 24 hour notice call, and that never happened. We are now on Day 12, and all we can do is hope that our items arrive.

No call to the main Legion Express telephone number was ever answered or returned. This company is an absolute joke. If you are looking for a reliable and professional company, please explore other options.

When moving, this company was to move and store our "stuff" until our new house was finished. They had our stuff for 5 months. They claimed all of it was going to be in a climate controlled warehouse, it wasn't. A Lot of our belongings came back dirty and signs of moisture damage. On the day we moved into our new house, they said they would be here by 9am. They didn't show up until 4pm. Upon getting our things off the truck, we were noticing some funiture was broken or damaged. Our $2,000 television was smashed.

A missing lawn mower, missing book case, missing compound miter saw, 3 filthy mattresses that were not in protective bags that we paid for, and many boxes were crushed and the contents inside were damaged. All totaled $8,000 off our belongings were ruined or missing. Before this company was hired, I asked if I needed to insure all of it. I was informed that it wasn't necessary because they carry insurance to cover it. When the movers showed up to take out stuff, they had me sign the contract stating that I was not insuring the contents myself. All of this was trying to be explained by a guy that could hardly speak English.( heavy Russian accent).

I tried to file a claim with them to recover some if not all of my losses, but was told I actually signed a contract waiving their insurance and all they would cover was $0.60 per pound for a grand total settlement of $64. This is insane!! I tried to initiate an arbitration process, and certified mail a letter to the movers, but the post office returned my letter saying it was unable to forward it. I know when moving there is certain risks involved, but this is almost criminal! Is there anyone there that can help me with this situation?

Please Beware of this Company..They treat your belongings like trash after they get most of your cash. They lie about the delivery date they promise you. They throw your stuff around I don't know how many times when their waiting to piggyback another load.

Walter promises alot and lies.He never gives you a straight answer and blames everyone else. I still might take them to court . For false promises in emails. They damage or lose your things and tell you to file a claim. What a Joke !!!!! 60 cents on the pound plus you need paper work on it..

It is a shady company And I am telling the truth . It is worth the money you think your going to save because your not. Besides your money ,your belongings coming to you Late and Damaged,Your Time , Your Nerves.. They are not nice or decent.
