La Quinta Inn Phoenix Reviews

  • Dec 12, 2022

The hotel manager and staff were rude from the moment I checked in. I had hoped for a simple one-night stay-over on our way out of town. However, I was forced to stay longer due to a sick child. I know this is a budget chain, but there needs to be standards we adhere to even for working class people please. The first night, there are a group who gather right outside our balcony, cigarette smoking and playing loud music. The cigarette smoke is filling our room, even with the hotel door closed as there are enough air spaces that the smoke wafts right in. Ironically, the hotel gave us a notice upon check-in that we cannot smoke. Of course, we are complying. However, I make sure hotel management knows that there is loud noise, noxious smoke--and I make sure management knows we have a sick child who is finding it hard to breathe. I find a cockroach, and I make sure management knows this also. The next day, the hotel manager comes banging on my door and yells at us as he tries to swing it open and break the safety lock--that if we do not leave immediately, he will call the police. This is even though I had already paid for the night! The hotel manager then tells me that although I had paid to Booking.com for the night, that that's not their problem. They are cancelling my reservation and throwing me out. This is even though I have done absolutely nothing to be thrown out, and certainly to do this to a mother with a sick child is reprehensible. I am stunned. I ask for my money back. The hotel manager and staff all deny my request to get my money back for the night. Then they tell me I have to get out immediately, with my sick child or they repeat they are calling the police. They refuse to give me my money for that night returned, they do not even ask one question if we have another place to go. We are thrown out with a threat that we will go to jail, even though I'd already paid to stay at la Quinta for that night. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels throughout my life, as a professor, lawyer, student, businesswoman, as well as for leisure. Never before have I been treated so lowly as a person, or a non-person as part of a hotel stay. The hotel not only acted unethically--they put in danger an innocent, sick child and completely ran dereliction of duty. Finally, I have to say that the kitchen staff including Tonya has all the signs of meth use. I was an attorney with my own private practice for over ten years, and I have been had experience dealing with hundreds of people who use meth. I also saw her making a deal with someone in the kitchen room, a man who also bore all signs of serious meth addiction.
