A History of Manipulative and Deceptive Business Practices

I am a software engineer in Los Angeles, California. App Innovators of Tallahassee Florida outsourced a project to my team in 2015-2016. Once the project was completed, Dustin Rivest, the owner of App Innovators, told me in an email I would receive payment within 90 days. Three months passed and I had not received payment.

I began leaving messages with App Innovators but was ignored for four more months.

After 7 months, I began filing a civil suit againsts Dustin Rivest and App Innovators. When D. Rivest was informed a lawsuit was being filed against him, his assistant reached out to me and said they would pay me ONLY IF I sent a notorized letter agreeing not to share my experience working with them via online reviews. I believe they quickly realized this was ILLEGAL and my check was overnighted to me the following day.

Doing business with App Innovators was the worst decision I have made for my business to date. Save yourself the legal trouble and find a reputable website/app service. Orlando and Miami are better options in Florida. California, New York, and Washington state tend to have the best app developers in the US for the best prices. In my opinion, having done business with App Innovators, this is just a group of small town scammers.

"Knox Landing contractors damaged our property. Management refused to give us the name of the contractor's company, proof of permits, insurance and licenses." We are investingating taking legal action.

As someone who has done business with this company, this review is to share my opinion and to inform others about my experience. My fiance and I rented out a small space from Knox Landing, also operating as App Innovators in 2014 and 2015. The space was in terrible condition and we spent over a month doing renovations until it was acceptable to be open for business.

Knox Landing started renovations shortly after on all other areas of the building so that they would be leasable. No offers were made to make improvements on our side of the building. In the beginning stages, the contractor hired was told by the owner of App Innovators that he was allowed to smoke inside of our building as long as he kept the door open.

This did major damage to our merchandise and furniture. Shortly after, major structural repairs went underway and an electrician flooded our side of the building with inches of water, causing further damages that we were told would be covered. I asked for the contractors information with no response and I asked for permit information and I was told permits were not needed for the type of work being done. As someone with a parent who owns a construction company, I know this is not true.

In addition to this, at night our parking lot was dangerously dark and we were promised proper lighting. This didn't happen until months later when we were forced to leave because of the conditions. We were also promised a safety fence because of a few incidents with the less than reputable motel down the hill. This was also never installed.

With incident after incident and our ignored requests, we cut our losses and abandoned the building. We were told damages would be covered and have been ignored for over a year.

Please, if you are considering doing business with, working for or associating with anyone from this place of "business", be aware of what you are getting in to. If you can't resist, GET DOCUMENTATION OF EVERYTHING.
