JRW Investments Reviews

The week before corona virus hit Rena Morris raised my rent $100. The following week, my hours at work were severely cut back to the pandemic. Knowing I would no longer be able to pay my rent I rationalized it would be best to move out and find cheaper housing rather than not be able to pay rent and be indebted to Rena Morris.

I informed her of my moving out and she ignored my notices for a week. I emailed, sent letters, called and she ignored me. When she finally called me back a week after my first move out notice she claimed to never receive any of my communication.

This, I would come to find, was in an effort to get another weeks worth of rent from me which she simply deducted from my security deposit. In addition, she charged me for rent the week of May 1-7 even though she had the apartment available for rent online on May 1st. How could she rent out my apartment if I was technically still paying for it?

After that phone call I didnt hear from her until after I moved out. I handed over my keys and waited the 21 days as stated in my lease for my security deposit check to be returned. When I never heard from her I attempted to email her and send a letter. I asked when I could expect my security deposit back and provided my forwarding address since she never asked for it.

A couple days later I receive an email from her showing that she mailed my check to the apartment I just moved out of despite the fact that I obviously don't live there anymore. When I contacted the property manger to see if she'd open the mailbox to let me retrieve it I was told "per Rena I'm not allowed to open the mail for previous tenants." So she sent my check to an address she knows I no longer live at knowing I'd have no way of accessing it according to her policy.

Of course I ask her to please re-issue my check to my correct address and I finally receive NO check, but a list of receipts detailing all the things she had to repair in my apartment. INCLUDING a $100 check re-issuing fee. And of course all the statements conveniently add up to my total security deposit amount. So, therefore, I will not be receiving my security deposit back.

Now I am online reading all the other complaints about this woman and figured I should share my cautionary tale. DO NOT CONDUCT ANY SORT OF BUSINESS WITH THIS WOMAN.
