Jesse Carrington answered my Ad for a Contracted House Re-Modeler. He was very presistant and stayed in touch, through text, with me daily. He insisted on an upfront payment of 1000.00. to start the project. Unfortunatley we gave it to him.
It started with me placing an Ad on FB on "Lets sell it Springtown". We were purchasing a home that needed a lot of updating. My husband and I meet him at the house where Jesse looked things over and gave us a quote. He wanted us to purchase all supplies and he would do the complete remodel for 2500.00. He also stated that the job would be complete in 2 weeks.
We moved on July 15th to the new house storing everything except our mattress in the garage and on the back porch. We gave Jesse a key to our house so he could start the remodel while we were at work. The painting was first and was started pretty quickly. After 1 week we realized that the remodel would NEVER be done within 2 weeks due to the painting not even being completed after 1 week. He assured us his crew was working as hard and as fast as possible. Jesse then started on the tile work. The entire house was to be tiled. We noticed that the "crew" stopped showing up and it was only his step-father ( DINO ) that was working But still some progress was being made. We continued living out of our bedroom on a matress and walking on mounds of cement that they wouldn't clean up ...... with the tile work. The house was a total disaster with dust everywhere. There was so much dust that it actually clogged our air duct, and froze the air conditioning pipes. That cost us a service repair of 65.00.
Now Jesse started calling and asking for more money. Two hundered here and Two hunderd there. There was always a "family emergency" that required additional funds. By now we had given him 2200.00. The tile work was started, the house was a disaster, and the painting wasn't even completed. That's when I decided to take off work for 1 week to watch how often they were actually showing up and working. It is now 1 month later, the middle of August. Jesse Carrington did NOT show up the entire week I was home and the ONLY workman that did show was his Stepfather. Jesse claimed to be sick with severe asthma. Well go figure with all the mess in made in the house and why wouldn't you wear mask??
Finally by the end of August my husband and I had had it. We were out 2200.00 plus supplies. The house was totaled and nothing was completed. We had to hire a crew at 2300.00 to complete the tile work. My husband and I completed the painting and my Uncle completed the electrical work. Of course we had to change the locks on the doors. Another expense.
As for Jesse Carrington he walked away with our money in his pocket and refused to refund us a portion of the money. One excuse after another. I called him out on Social Media and that's when so many people came forward claiming he did the same thing to them.
We learned an expensive lesson on house remodeling and I'm sure Jesse is swindeling some other gulable person.
