My little girl and I moved into an apartment located in the red, brick building across from Moes Corner Store on avenue P in Galveston, TX. at first, it seemed like a better alternative to the hood from which we just moved from. Soon after moving into the property, I realized that the entire building had structural issues. When it rained, the living room floor would literally flood up to about 1 or 2 cm. Two of the living room walls in my apartments were also completely wet underneath and I could actually push the wall in there was so much moisture built up. My windows were rotted out so bad by the time I was halfway through my lease that I could not even open or close them without wood chips going everywhere. Hre is the bigger issue; My daughter was poisened by lead that came from this building. I had the health department, an environmental specialist as well as a pediatric nurse come to my house.
Rylan was diagnosised with lead amounts that should not ever been found in a grown man. She also aquired respiratory issues and rashes due to the building. I found massive amounts of rat droppings underneath my bed when I moved it and the entire building insode and out is infested with German Roaches, also known as "Linnaeus". When I signed my lease, the whole building was suppose to be extermintaed every 2-3 months and Gerald never did this. He only extirmintaed the first month I moved in. In addition, Geraldo was illegally subleasing one of the downstairs apartments to anyone and everyone without even running criminal background checks. I witnessed about 4-5 different p[eople move in and out of that apartment below me within 2 months and every single person looked as though they were on drugs. Which brings me to my next point and that there are people licing in the building that abuse drugs and act out. this building is no place for your family or even a single person for that matter. I removed my daughter and myself from the building as it is unsafe and a threat to mine and my families life. This man preys on people who are elderly or single mothers. He refuses to communicate without cussing his tennants out and fleas the country often to hide. He never even apologized for the health issues he has caused my baby girl and has also not returned my deposit or given any written explanation as to what he did with it or why I was never given a lead form to sign along with a lead safety packet which is required in thie state of Texas. He never gave me an inventory form so I had the chance to write my concerns and things wrong and he never replied to my emails with the concerns. There were times that the crackheads who lived in the building would fight and break out several of thew windows of which he did not replace until later on which is unsafe for children who live in the building. I whitnessed him cuss out another set of tennats because they asked him to fix an AC unit and he as mad because it was going to cost him money. Gewraldo did not get the AC fixed until two weeks later and them emailing him. there was a period that my baby and I were also without AC and I could not veen stay in my own home; we had to stay with family until he fixed it which was about two weeks later. I told him my daughter was getting overheated and could not sleep and he just cussed me out. This man is not to be trusted and please, please, please, stay away from Galveston Island Beach Rentals as this is not a place to call home. My families and my own health and safety was at risk and I was blessed to get out when I could. There is a blue building that is also behind this red brick building and Geraldo owns that too; Do not rent from here. The blue building was red tagged by the city of Galveston and nothing is up to code. Previous residents were relocated because of fire hazards and unsatisfactory plunbling. There were electric wires expoased and just tacked up or hanging from the ceilings and this may not seem like a hazard to a nieve person. Do not risk your safety. Please stay away from this illigitamate business and keep ypur family even further.
