Intuit, Inc. Reviews

I completed the education of this company. I have 22 years in tax preparation and a CPA license and this company does not hire anyone as promised. Not one phone call returned, email and text message. It's like the company does not exits now.

I purchsed on Amazon the TurboTax Deluxe with free state e-file software. There is a software glitch for Kentucky state tax filers. At the very end of the error check, an error message displays that the state return must be filed by paper, because I an EIN or SSN for the "Childcare Provider" was not provided. I completed an individual return. There are no dependents.

I did an online search to find if anyone else has had the same problem. Multiple people posted that they have had the same problem. One person reported that "Intuit is working on the problem."

I contacted Intuit's customer service. The representative indicated that other people have complained about this problem. She knew about the problem before I even went into a full explanation. There does not appear to be any resolution for purchasers. Software companies do not permit refunds for their software purchased on Amazon. It does not appear that Intuit is providing a refund either.

In addition to all the extra time spent on trying to get the state efile to go through, for the first time in a lot of years, I am having to filie a paper return, even though a paid for software that was supposed to include a free state efile.

TurboTax notified me they made a calculation error one month after I was paid $892 by the state. When I resubmitted per instructions, I owe $711. I filed my 2018 taxes on 1/16/19 using TurboTax FreeFile. My submission was accepted and the state direct deposited $892 (2018 refund) into my checking account on 2/20/19.

On 3/20/19, I received an email from TurboTax admitting a calculation error on their part (Oregon Schedule OR-A). They advised me to resubmit my 2018 state taxes. When I submitted the amended return, I then owed $711 that I no longer had since it had been 1 month since the state paid me.

I called TurboTax the same day (3/20/19) to get more information as to why the calculation error happened and more importantly, why I was notified so late. Please note that my boyfriend, Korbin Stein, filed his taxes with the TurboTax Free-file on 1/16/19 and received a TurboTax "calculation error" email on 1/31/19 (nearly 2 months prior to my miscalculation email was received).

The email advised him that TurboTax made a calculation error and that he would need to resubmit. He resubmitted before the state paid him, so his refund was corrected and he doesn't owe. Both of the error calculation emails we received both mention "Oregon Schedule OR-A", but are worded slightly different and are from 2 different email addresses (his was from [email protected]; my email was from [email protected]).

This confirms these emails were mailed out separately, and I still haven't gotten a reason as to why I wasn't notified within the same timeframe as Korbin Stein. I have these email copies to provide. I called TurboTax back on 4/10/19 and spoke to a Tier I representative (Tamilia) who agreed this was an unusual and a rare occurrence (she had never heard of this before) and that this issue deserved special treatment.

Feb 7, 2019 I used online Turbo Tax, an Intuit product to file my taxes.

Throughout the tax entry process, TurboTax has the customer verify entries two or more times.

There is constant verification of information -- EXCEPT WHEN TurboTax SHOULD BE TELLING THE CUSTOMER HOW MUCH THE FEES WILL BE FOR FILING THOSE TAXES -- BEFORE THE TAXES ARE E-FILED.

When the tax forms are complete -- right before filing, Turbo Tax asks how you would like to pay your TurboTax fees -- a new option is to have the fees taken from your federal refund (if it is large enough). I could have paid my fees with a credit card -- which would cost me nothing and would earn cashback points. There was no BOLD print saying if you choose "the refund" option to pay fees, we will charge you $39.99.

I would like to point out that $39.99 is the same fee one pays to e-file state tax forms -- which adds to the confusion.

It is true that one must agree to this -- but the agreement screens are in a series of screens that also include signing for state forms to be e-filed and all of this becomes confusing.

TurboTax DOES NOT list all the fees you are paying them BEFORE filing taxes, so that a customer can see that there are two charges of $39.99 in addition to the fee for using TurboTax. Instead, TurboTax e-files the tax forms with the instructions to take their fees from the federal refund, and After that confirms to the customer that the forms were filed and then lists the fees charged. (That is when it is clear that there are two $39.99 charges - and one is for the privilege of having your TurboTax fees taken out of your refund before you get your refund.)

When I realized I was paying $40 for the priviliege of letting TurboTax take the fees from my tax refund, I immediately called them.

It took the rep over an hour to try to pull up the information -- which she never was able to do, telling me the system was very slow due to workload. She also checked with supervisors -- the result is -- nothing we can do once the tax forms are e-filed.

THIS IS A SCAM TACTIC.

THE government allows Intuit/TURBOTAX TO E-FILE; Intuit should not be allowed to charge customers $40 for taking their fees from the tax refund -- unless the customer has very clearly in bold print been told that using this option will cost them $40 and it is clear the paying by credit card costs nothing.

On August 3rd, 2017 our company switched from Quickbooks online service to Quickbooks desktop service. We cancelled the online service. Quickbooks has continued to charged us a monthly fee for their online service even though it's been cancelled. We have fought with them for over a year and each time we call they tell us "your service is cancelled" and we will refund you the charges. We never got one refund. This has been going on now for nearly a year. Today their supervisor (Victor) told me he cannot issue any refunds. Super disappointed in this company and how we've been ripped off. As though it's their plan all along ~ keep charging my credit card until we call and get a promise of a refund. This is not how I expected a company like Quickbooks to treat us because after all we are still a good loyal customer of theirs. I am compelled to tell the whole word to be careful for this situation and this company!

I used Turbo Tax last year to do my simple Taxes for free. I had to pay IRS $75 so that check was sent directly to the IRS. This year I went online and went into their website to do my taxes again with them. They have a few options, I chose the free one. Again, simple taxes, no deductions or anything fancy. After going through maybe 20-30 minutes of Q&A's filing my taxes it came to the end with them telling me my refund will be $1009. But I would have to pay $29.99 to recieve it & for them to send to IRS. I know I was in the free section of there website, so, anyway I gave in and decided to give them my credit card information. No sooner they processed my Mastercard and files with IRS, I get a responce back from IRS stating my filing was rejected. I tried for 2 days to get in touch with Turbo Tax, they did not return my emailes and there were no phone numbers directly to them. When I did get through a woman by the name of Tiffany Pohl said that I can not get refunded my $29.99 because of something plus. I told her I was fileing under the free service but she insisted that I filed under the plus feature. I told her that it took 3 seconds for them to get paid from my debit card and 4 minutes to be rejected from the IRS. Please refund my money. She said she was online with her supervisor and she said she can't refund my money back. Then she had the gaul to say too bad. I would never recomend Turbo Tax to anyone. They are ripoffs. I told Tiffany that I am a Vietnam Vet and I am not rich, that I need my money back. She insisted I touched the plus button. I went back to the site to see wtf she was talking about and I did not see any plus options. For $29.99 they are going to make me go to war with them. Pitiful company. Don't use Turbo tax.

Every year this pathetic company gets sneakier and sneakier, lower and lower in their business practices designed to rip off the consumer Last year they began selling a "Plus" version of their Quickbooks Pro software. In the past, a customer would purchase the software, and it would be good as long as they owned it. Then they began cutting off access to online services after 3 years, forcing customers to purchase it again to continue access to online features, and now, with the "Plus" version, they actually shut you out of your own software after a year. Yep, one day, you turn on your computer, go to use your software and find you're locked out because the license expired. Something that is not disclosed to you. You see, they sell the "plus" subscription for the exact same price as the full desktop software. They market the "Plus" version as including "enhanced support" and Cloud backup, so ANY reasonable consumer would thing the year of service is included. But no, turns out, SURPRISE, apparently the $200 software is what's included with the service, but ONLY FOR A YEAR!

What a complete scam. This company is just disugusting. A complete ripoff. This is obviously done to increase their subscription revenue to appease their stockholders at the expense of their customers. I suggest you buy a competing product

I have used Turbo Tax for about 15 years and this is the last time ever. I had a refund coming from the IRS and the charges for doing my taxes were to be withdrawn form my refund, but my refund was blcoked because of an IRS Identity Fraud attempt on my account. I logged into my checking account this morning and the charge for 119.98 had been withdrawn without my prior notice and overdrew my account. I called and asked to have the charge refunded and I would pay another way and they refused. This is what customer loyalty gets you these days. So many other Tax Services to choose from and this will not be one of them ever again. My whole family uses them becuase of my great experience and they will stop also. The bottome line is that they should have contacted me to resolve the issue.

Doing business with Intuit GoPayment has been one of the worst ongoing experiences ever! In November 2015, I was the victim of fraud. When I applied for the service I estimated that my maximum monthly charges would be $10,000. On one day, the scammer charged 10 different credit cards close to $20,000 each. Intuit never stopped these charges, and when I caught the fraud 2 days later, they could not freeze my account until the next day when the California office opened. After speaking with multiple people the next day, I was assured that their fraud department would handle it. In January I began to get collection notices from them, now on my credit report. I am now having to pay an attorney and have a negative collection amount on my credit reports for $40000. If this has happened to anyone else I would really like to hear how you got it resolved. I know there were other victims of fraud around that same time period, and my attorney has told me that we cannot file a class action suit, but it sure does show a significant security breech on the part of Intuit if there was a lot going on in Oct / Nov 2015.

Quicken Update R6 in 2015 did serious damage to thousands of user data files. The same occurred again with the R7 update but to a lesser degree. When I say damage, I mean loss of financial data, the kind of data you report to the IRS, banks and other financial institutions. My loss was so great, that I have had to rebuild my data file manually twice, once after the R6 and again after the R7 updates.

The R8 update forced on users who connect to any type of financial intuition, multifactor authentication through the Quicken Cloud. About a year ago I started having problems authenticating through that process, consequently I could not get to my data. The program doesn’t prevent you from connecting to your financial institution, it literally locks you out of your data file and keeps you hung on the login screen.

You have to use Task Manager to kill Quicken because the application is locked up there. I have 30 plus screen shots showing the process and how it fails, so I know I am not imagining this.

3 chat session with support on this issue. The first two walked me through a Ctrl-Key combination that got me past the required login to the cloud so I could at least get to my data and pay bills. The third time no so, the tech asked me to sign a release excusing Intuit of any responsibility should my data get damage or for any loss of data and then send the file off to Intuit for repairs. After rebuilding my data files after R6 and R7, from scratch, there were no more data errors being reported by Quicken, so how can he be so sure its my data file and not a bug in thier cloud authentication process, unless, Intuit knows something about the R6-7 updates that damaged data files that they are simply not publically owning up to.

After pressing for the steps that would allow me to bypass the cloud login the tech simply disconnected from the chat session and leaves me hanging there eating static. After this I had no choice but to once again rebuild my data file from scratch a task which took 10 hours a day for 6 days to recover two years’ worth of data.

Inuit has been milking the public for years with their annual updates for $60-90 where all you get are minimal feature enhancements, a trick which has made Intuit wealthy to the extreme.

To be hung up on and left hanging without a solution to a problem they will neither acknowledge or own, well it's one of the biggest FU’s I’ve ever gotten from a company and I would leave and go somewhere else if there was some place to go.

Inuit has gotten away with this for too many years but will continue to stiff customers in this manner unless enough users complain, somewhere off of their PR controlled user forums. Just Google "Quicken R6 update corrupts data", you will see dozen of links, but all of them lead to Intuit's PR controled spin cycle where the only thing you read about are dumb newbe user errors. Nothing that deals with the real damage Intuit has cause and the hundreds of millions they have cost all customers combined with thier lack of quality control.

Intuit as a company has lost sight of what made them the billion-dollar giant they are, accountability and customer satisfaction. Today they are nothing more than a billion-dollar bully exploiting the fact that they have no real competition to threaten them and making their customers pay for their mistakes.

I recently checked my bank statements and saw that $99.25 was withdrawn from my account With a discription of Intuit Inc. Type:8888081723 CO:Intuit Inc

I copied and pasted the discription on Google and saw that it was linked to Turbo tax. A friend did my taxes so I'm doing a follow up with her. And will give an update on this matter. I called the number but office was closed and will have to try again on Monday. Funny because Turbo Tax advertised that it was free then two months later a withdrawal from my account without any notice. My account was given for automatic deposit for my tax return so I assume that is how they got my info.

I filed my taxes with Turbotax for 2015. Now 2 months later I log into my bank account and Turbotax has taken $125.00 from my account without explanation or notification. My so called free taxes obviously were not free. How can they take the money without notice or explanation?

Do not use Turbotax.com to file your taxes. With fraud like this just go to a local tax advisor at least they should tell you your fees up front. Turbotax stole money from me with out explanation over two months after I filed taxes.

I attempted to file my tax for FREE with Turbo Tax and for 45 days I tried to get clarification on a W-2 from Intuit customer service and no one answers their question site when you post a question. Next after you wait for assistance you finally must file your tax return and pay $29.99 or be late with the IRS, which I would never advise. When you file they offer a call service BUNDLE of NOTHING actaully for $34.99. If you select it you will get NO ONE to speak with and NO ONE will call you back. Turbo Tax is a huge ripoff unless you file early and have simple wages and no questions. NEVER use any options but the FREE early service or the $29.99 the month of April when you are desparate. TURBO TAX gives you NO ADVICE so why pay for it and they WILL NEVER GIVE YOU A REFUND for any service box you check and pay for and never recieve. TURBO TAX SUCKS!!!
