This guy was contacted by us as he comes in the south asian radio programs for our first mortgage. He asked for papers which were sent to him and he said our mortgage will be approved. He said one of the private mortgage companies he was working with has approved our mortgage and now we can finalize the house and once that is done, he will get the mortgage disbursed.
He even sent us the email which was sent to him by the mortgage company which showed that our mortgage has been approved by that company which we signed and sent it back to him.
When we found the house, gave 10 % deposit and everything was finalized our lawyer asked about the papers which are needed to get the loan disbursed. I kept on contacting him but he did not reply. Just two days before the closing date he said due to some problem all his files with the mortgage company has been stopped and he cannot do anything. So here I am just two days away from closing and with no mortgage.
This caused great problem for us as now I have to get mortgage from another agent at a very high rate of interest. We had to arrange for 20% deposit as compared to 5% which was the original plan. Out of the 20%, 10% was to be taken at 15% interest rate for which will be paying colse to 500 interest for one year on just 10% with only the interest going and no effesct on the principle.
This caused us great mental stress. I had to take so much money at so high interest rate as if I would not have done that, then I would have lost the house which I was buying as the house I was staying as a renter was also to be vacated. Secondly I would have lost my 10% deposit. Further more the people selling me the house could have sued me for not fulfilling the agreement.
When I contacted the mortgage company I was told that there is no problem lke this and he is lying to us. They are not disbursing the loan as they don't have requisite documents with them but we had given all the documents to him. So due to all these problems I had to take loan at such a high rate of interest to save myself from all the problems which would have come due to not arranging for the mortgage.
This guy is sneaky, give you lot of assurances and claims a lot but he is a lian and a cheater. Beware of him if you want to save your money and also save yourselves from mental stress.
