ickythecat

having started on Ebay back in 2005 by stealing and reselling other sellers patterns, this obnoxious person is still trading. Having opened her own website and still using Etsy, Craftsy, and maybe other smaller sites. She is now offering almost free pattern packs on Etsy. These are almost certainly patterns bought from other sites and pattern sellers in order to put them out of business.Unfortunately digital PDf files make it cheap and easy for her to do this.Read her rude replies to feedback on Etsy and you will see how crazy she is !! It is hard to believe she makes any money out of what she does and she must sit at her PC all day to find and steal other sellers work.Impossible to stop her as she denies she is copying anyone , in fact if you confront her she will tell you she bought from you to check to see if you had stolen her patterns!! Or you will be told to stop harassing her and concentrate on improving your own failed business and that you are jealous of her success!! A real crazy woman !! Hopefully one day she will make the ultimate theft and get her just reward.Thankfully most sellers respect each other and don't copy and resell other peoples work !!

Steal EVERYONE's patterns and artwork and sell as their own at 1/2 the price! AWFUL PEOPLE!

Icky the Cat, Haremoon Hollow, etc... are plain old THIEVES. I've known about them since 2005, on Ebay, where they were finally found out and removed as a seller, and recently on Etsy.

Somehow, they've been found out on Etsy and are no longer selling there under those names, but I am sure they will show up soon under another name....

They sell hundreds of patterns that they have done NOTHING to acquire other than to buy other artist's work, scrub the original artist's name and sell as their own. They use the exact artwork for their ads, even though it is the artist's original artwork, not the vintage picture.

If you accuse them of this, they will work overtime to get YOU kicked off the selling venue (Etsy, Ebay etc)

It takes a lot of time to buy original RARE patterns, and a lot of money. Then, to scan, restore, and fit on paper that can be printed out takes tons of hours. The artwork for the ads, even more. This adds up to over a solid WEEK or more of work to produce ONE pattern. They simply buy my pattern, change the name to theirs (they put a watermark all over it so no one else will steal their "work") and put it up on their sites.

They stole all my most popular patterns and sell them at every venue they can get on. Their own website has even more. I hesitate to put up any new item, as I know they will hungrily snatch it up and resell it immediately using MY artwork.

I've reported them to Etsy, only to have MY site taken down for a month because they accused ME of stealing their work!

Customers buy the patterns at half of the price of the original seller's price, so of course, the customer buys their version instead of the original seller's. However, if the customer has any questions about the pattern, ha ha ha! They just don't answer their questions. They are extremely RUDE to their customers if they have anything but praise for them.

Steer clear of these awful, awful people.

(Pattern's in the Public Domain)

There are lots of craft patterns in the Public Domain. When a seller takes an old pattern, that is Brown or Tan in colour, Revise it and bring that pattern into the 20th Century, that pattern Copyright belong to that seller. That seller could sell 'copy's of there own work. If another seller purchase that 'copy' they can not sell duplicate's without the sellers permission. ickythecat has purchased 'copy's from other sellers on many sites, duplicating them and converting them into P.D.F.

Some sellers work still have the sellers Trade name on them. If you confront a seller, they would say they purchased a 'copy' from a seller to check if it has been stolen from them, to cover themselves. It is not perfessional for a seller to purchase another sellers hard work and Duplicate it for profit. Competition never hurt anyone, but it sounds like ickythecat is not a nice seller.

DO NOT USE THIS SITE

Before I read these reviews I ordered 2 patterns from her. WHAT A MISTAKE! They are obviously copied (BADLY) and are incomplete. Impossible to use basically.

I emailed and asked for a complete version, and guess what? NO REPLY. No need really as she already has my money.

PLEASE KEEP YOUR MONEY! Go somewhere else.

Donna Sims of Gloucestershire. is a copycat. She buys patterns from other sellers and sells them on her own site, as her own work. She gets her family and friends to buy for her. She should be Blocked from sites and her Web page taken down. This is not fare to Sellers she buys from.

Scammed

Don't buy from this site.

Ordered a pattern from IckytheCat, got an e mail saying thanks but no download attached, I tried to send a reply message but it was bounced back by the post master saying it could not be delivered and delivery would not be attempted again. I paid good money and don't have anything to show for it - cancelled my card.

Buyer Beware.

NO GOODS!

I purchase patterns from this seller but didnt receive the goods. She ignored my e mails so I opened a complaint with PayPal. They upheld her because she apparently supplied proof of delivery. I catagorically did not receive the patterns. I am not complaining about PayPal they have to follow their rules. I dont understand how I could receive 3 e mails from her thanking me for my order, your order will follow tomorrow and your order is complete. Yet no patterns attached to any of the e mails. Just be careful with this seller!

IckyTheCat has always been a good and conscientious shop keep

I have done business with Donna Sims for years, and I have never had a single problem with my orders. I could not be more grateful that she sells public domain patterns and books at affordable prices. No price-gouging or pushing up prices on what traditionally has sold as flea market or garage sale items, Donna has kept the prices affordable when other sellers greedily keep pushing the prices up. Some sellers are under the impression that simply putting their watermark on pdf patterns and documents proves that they somehow magically own the copyright to the to vintage and antique patterns and books, the many of the same items that Donna sells at IckyTheCat. But public domain means that there is no longer a copyright on these texts. No one’s watermark will make these items belong to them. I hope that more good-hearted shop keepers will consider selling these items with the same spirit as Donna Sims.

Copyright (Pattern's in the Public Domain)

I would like to state that there are lots of Patterns in the Public Domain. When a seller restores a pattern that is in the Public Domain, Brings up to the 20 century the Pattern Copyright belongs to the new seller, that pattern is not in the Public Domain. If Donna Sims purchased a 'copy' of a pattern, from a seller, Duplicate the 'copy' and sells on her web site that is infringing the sellers rights. Patterns that are in the Public Domain instructions, pattern pieces are dark in colour,They have to be restored on white paper, if a seller just scans the original pattern that is dark in colour, and list it for sale, yes that could be copied, because that pattern has not been revised or restored. There may be buyers who are happy with Donna Sims patterns, but they do not know the pattern rights belong to another seller.

Public Domain

There are lots of old patterns that are in the Public Domain. The old patterns are Brown in colour, or in bad condition because of there age. When a seller takes the old pattern and Restore and Revise that pattern and brings it into the 20th century. That pattern Copyright belong to that seller. When ickythecat purchase that pattern, she can not Duplicate and make 'Copy's to sell without the sellers permission. A buyer could be happy with the pattern she purchased from ickythecat but the buyer would not know they have purchased another seller pattern. Trade names are on the patterns for a reason, to indicate the pattern belongs to that seller . On ickythecats sites there are patterns with other sellers trade name on , that pattern belongs to that trade name not ickythecat. ickythecat must have purchased that pattern from that trader. Most sellers do respect each other.
