I. Gordon Corporation Reviews

  • Aug 18, 2020

I was employed by the I. Gordon Corporation, a family-owned real estate management company, as an administrative assistant for eleven years. The business had been started by Isaac Gordon many years ago. His son Robert became president (in name only) after his death. The business is mainly run by Vice President Don Sasso. A few years ago Robert's daughter Lynn and son-in-law Chris Hill became Vice Presidents also. They do absolutely nothing (much like Robert) except talk on the phone, charge everything including meals, clothing, maintenance on their homes, and vehicles to the company and have lunch with their father in the building restaurant, boring other building tenants with endless talk of their favorite subject: themselves.

I was abruptly terminated with no warning one afternoon by an attorney. I was given no reason for the termination, only told that the I. Gordon Corporation had decided to terminate my employment. I was handed an agreement to sign stating that I would be given three weeks severance pay if I signed the agreement, which stated that I could not take any legal action against them. The agreement was due back to the office in three weeks. I was advised not to sign the agreement and soon found out why.

Three weeks to the day that that agreement was due back, I found out that the I. Gordon Corporation had decided to dispute my Unemployment Benefits, stating that they had fired me "gross misconduct" which was, according to them, shutting my office door in the mornings before office hours. They also did not plan on releading my profit sharing plan to me, so I had to take legal action. Under the COBRA plan, I had to pay for my health insurance. However, I soon received notice of non-payment from Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. The I. Gordon Corporation was accepting my payment, but not applying it on my behalf to the group health insurance. I also had to take legal action for this. I did eventually receive my Unemployment Benefits, profit sharing and health benefits. However, the I. Gordon Corporation did not pay me the full amount of unpaid vacation time that I was owed.

I have reported all information about the I. Gordon Corporation to the Internal Revenue Service. I have also reported the family to the Monroe County Adult Protective Services. Robert Gordon has a mentally ill brother Richard. He is Richard's legal guardian and in charge of his sizeable trust. He has Richard living in one of his apartment complexes and paying him rent. He has also authorized his daughters to be paid large sums (in addition to their large paychecks) from the trust, instead of using the money to take care of Richard, who roams the streets alone. Richard is given $20 per week. He is made to go all the way downtown to the office, no matter what the weater is, (he has no vehicle) every Monday and every Friday to get a $10 bill. I have witnessed him wait for several hours to get the money while Robert would sit on the phone and chat with friends.

These people are the most self-absorbed and despicable people I have ever encountered. They should not have the responsibility of employing people. They are trash with money.
