Horses Deserve A Second Chance Reviews

Please use caution when purchasing a horse from Nicole Hilliard (Horses Deserve A Second Chance). Looks to be that for years, she has been misrepresenting and selling horses that are not safe, much older than claimed, sick, injured, dangerous. Do your homework, google her reviews and network with others. I (who recently purchased from her) saw the reviews but turned a blind eye because they were a few years old. I thought maybe she had changed her ways. And people are always quicker to complain than praise. Thought perhaps just a case of an angry few. Unfortunately the reviews are scarily accurate.

I was promised a very beginner safe, trail ready horse that is the exact opposite. Spooky and defiant to the point of dangerous. I am pretty certain this horse has no miles under saddle. Nicole promoted the horse the same way she promotes every single one - bomb proof, trail ready, gun safe, mild mannered, easy going, kid/family/beginner safe, 15 years old ....Horse crossed highway uninvited, jumped obstacles to blaze own trail, violently throws head, backs up, spooks, turns around to go home, refuses to stop, doesn't understand or listen to a rider at all......From talking to many who experienced the same sort of situation, she is pulling horses from auction and days later advertising them on Facebook as well trained. She does not put time and training into them. Flips them in a matter of days for quick $$$, with no regard for buyer or horse. Someone is going to get seriously injured. Go ahead and pull from auction and sell them! No one has issue with that. It is wonderful that they get a second chance. But stop with the outright deception. Amazing she has been pulling this off for years. Many reviews say horses are drugged for the videos and I would absolutely believe that now. Stupidly I purchased mine without a video.

I was told I had to buy ASAP because there was so much interest and the horse wouldn't last long. And if I wanted a video done the price of the horse would increase a couple hundred dollars. I fell for the BS hook, line and sinker. Nicole gets very pushy about the sale and sending money. And she gets vicious if you question the horses at all. I was basically told not my fault if you can't ride when I said this horse is crazy. A. I do know how to ride and B. you are selling these horses as bomb proof. Please stop with the deception. You are going to get someone killed. And she will give you every single excuse under the sun about why you cannot see the horse before purchase. Don't believe me? Ask her if you can come see one before buying. Good luck! And very telling, as soon as you get the horse she immediately requests a positive review - before there is time for the dust to settle. She says tell me when you are ready so I can open my Faceboook page. When you are ready, she opens her page and then immediately closes her page after you have posted your review. She keeps her Facebook page so that no one can leave any sort of commentary other than a positive one. Any negative comments are instantaneously deleted. Be careful and reconsider.

Nicole Hillard sold me a horse with a host of ailments/issues! Let me give you a list of problems:

1) Under weight - which she covered up with by using a horse blanket when taking pictures up close!

2) the horse had scrapes and a huge patch of missing fur on it's rump; I was told the horse just had dirt/mud on it and that's what I was seeing.

3) Bad teeth! I was told he had the horse was vet checked and the teeth were fine. The Horse chocked on grain and needed to have his teeth floated immediately.

4) The horse did not like his back hooves to be handled at all! Nicole claimed "my farrier had no issues."

5) I was told he loads "Great" on a trailer. No, the horse is not easy to load at all! It takes a lot of effort and encouragement to make this happen!!!

6) I was told he was wormed and had no issues with worms, more Lies!!! My vet found worms and I had to worm him myself.

7) The horse stumbles easily and often! My vet is coming out, again, to see if he is lame

100% True!

We purchased a horse from Nicole in the past month as well and we 100% agree with you. He’s severely underweight, in fact he is much thinner than how he looked in the pictures when she first pulled him from the kill pen. That means he LOST even more weight under Nicole’s care. He has numerous bite marks all over his body, he has a huge would that is scabbed over on his leg as well. His teeth had to be floated immediately because was chocking his feed everywhere. Our vet gave him a body score of 2! Nicole’s response was that “horses will be horses”. That’s an unacceptable answer for what is obvious misrepresentation of a horse’s Health.

I purchased Eddie a draft app X on March6, 2016. I was told he was bomb proof, ride and drive, gun safe, trail safe with the videos to go along with it. Little did I know how sedated he was to stand through a gun shot, blow horn, etc. Nicole was pushy and I fell for it and unfortunately trusted her word. Upon arrival, she was very nervouse and in a quick hurry to leave and should I mention bringing gramma along .

With in a couple of days when mounting him, he bit my thigh and became very nasty and nervous. It was very clear that he was not at all what Nicole Hillard claimed he was and she is just out to make alot of money and not all caring about the horse and new owner. She would not return my calls, only text. She told me that she would trade him with another if he didn't work out for me, this was untrue.

Wow did I fall for it. Found ad-fell hook, line and sinker. My only hope is that the next person is smarter than I am. Please do your research before purchasing horse from this person. Horse was much thinner than appeared in pictures and videos as others have mentioned. i assumed horse was stocked up from long haul (20 hours) and wanted to give it a few days to settle in. Man was I wrong. After spending a few thousand dollars I found out the horse had been foundered. I believe the horse was heavily buted upon delivery. Please don't end up like me.

Recourse

Have you seen the Bad Horse Dealers page on Facebook? You should reach out to them with your story. It's horrible how many other victims there are.

Ditto

VERY DECEIVING ! BUYER BEWARE‼️⚠️

When trying to purchase a loving companion your heartstrings gs are toyed with and you are put in a spot to make fast decisions without given the opportunity to see the horse in person. You are pressured by sales tactics that are unethical and shamefully deceitful! You were told there is no time to see the horse other people are in the process of sending money! All of these horses are marketed as godly And “bomb proof” amazing dream horses. When the reality is quite the opposite. Pics are photoshopped and videos are of horses “under the influence!!” UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF TRANQUELIZERS!!!

Being a horse lover we what to believe this is the one !!! You would never imagine another horse person would be so ruthless!!! Just make sure you think the rose colored glasses off and demand to see and interact with the horse before purchasing. Thank about it one unicorn is hard enough to find , how can she have managed to come across hundreds⁉️

Please do your research and see Facebook page Bad horse dealers! Read all the stories on there ! You will be jolted right back to reality. Thank about it her vet is on the payroll and just as corrupt as she is. Be where of the shady unethical fine print that takes away your freedom of speech By stating that you cannot give any negative feedback about the horse or the sale transaction by stating that you cannot give any negative feedback about the horse or the sale transaction.

REALLY ? “DEAD GIVE AWAY”

BUYER PLEASE BE WARE. We all have friends or families that can leave good reviews which by the way there are not that many!

Don't Do It!

I don't have to write anything here, all the previous reviews above me are exactly what happened to me. I would just be repeating what everyone else said. SHE IS PROBABLY THE WORST IN THE BUSINESS

Expensive video

Everything people have written here is what I experienced as well. The video showed me a horse as safe as could be. Shooting off him, riding through hill and dale ( and needing to do a little kicking for encouragement to move. Video showed him nearly sleeping while having his hooves done. NOT. He is a vicious, violent character who tries to kill horses and dogs who are in with him (was told he was the bottom of the herd) We thought he would die the first day he came he was so thin. He quidded when fed hay ( Nicole said the vet said teeth were fine) there were not many teeth left. She said he was 16, I told my very experienced vet, he just rolled his eyes and said" He's a lot older than that." He jumped a 5 foot round pen panel because he didn't want to stay in! She is just turning over horses that she bought, selling them for huge profit and moving on. I bought him, the video showed exactly what I was looking for.....I bought an expensive video and received a reactive, violent and very underweight problem that I will have put down. He is too dangerous to keep.

Do NOT Do NOT buy from her

Stay away. Do not fall for it. I did fall for it and paying the price. She is DEALER! And as review above says, of the worst kind. NOT a rescue in the least. These are cheap killpen horses (sadly, cheap for a reason) flipped immediately for big profits. Sold through deception. Quite frankly fraudulent marketing. If you want to save a horse, go to auction direct. It’s the same horses Nicole is getting to flip.

Do not buy from HDSC

She lies, lies, lies. Sells horses that are older then claimed. She pays her vet to sign un healthy horse certs as clean bill of health certs. She pays people to give her positive reviews. Her husband is in it with her. He is a police officer delivering un healthy, sick, malnourished, not bomb proof as she claims. Serious health problems too. It's really sad someone can do this! what's it going to take to stop her? Someone dying? Shame on you nicole. Go back to germany where maybe this is you do business there.

Not as advertised

Wish I could give a minus 1 or lower. I purchased a horse in 2013 and was the worst decision I ever made. This horse was crazy and a bucking bronco. I wanted a husband horse but instead got a crazy one.

Was told the horse was 14 yrs old and would be an excellent mount for my husband to trail ride and was considered dead broke.

Horse was shipped to me and was extremely thin (apparently doctored photos to appear healthier looking animal) when it arrived. It tends to booger hunt, so would not call him dead broke, but weight concerned me more. I told her when he arrived that he wouldn't eat hay and she said he was use to grass and not to worry about it.

I took him to our vet and the vet estimated him to be in upper 20s and most of his bottom teeth were missing (hence the problem with eating forage). We would have to chop up his hay and there was no way that this horse could ever cover much ground on a trail ride in his condition.

I need to find a retirement home, much less get him ready to hit the trail. She lied to me and shame on her vet for not being truthful on his coggins and health certificate.

Buyer Beware!!!!

Where to Start.....

Where to start!

First horse I purchased I never saw him! Her transporter took him to his house and was waiting till he was coming out way to deliver him. He died on his property. Said he was extremely old.

She replaced him with another horse. So I bought another one to come our way.

So 3 horses total..... I have 1 to this day.

When the two mares showed up I was told by the transporter “oh this one hasn’t ate”. (It took days to get here... still not sure why so long) Made me sign papers and ran to the truck.

Oh and a friend of mine who is a transporter said they have the worst reputation in transporters. They kill horses.... yep they killed mine!

She was so sick. I called the vet walking up the driveway for an emergency call!

My vet said it was the sickest horse she has seen in a long while.

We took her right to university... she didn’t make it one night! She was so good with all the vets. She was so dehydrated and her heart rate was beyond high.

5 days later I got a call from the university saying she had salmonella! All of her results came in.

I had to bleach the barn down and took the other horse to university for testing because she was transported with her.

So we have the third horse but she was so under weight! And has CPL in her rear leg. Lots of vet calls and care.

We absolutely love her. She is the sweetest horse in the barn. Would prefer love over feed. We don’t ride her because of her health issues but she is well cared for and is a great horse otherwise.

Definitely beware! I still have nightmares of that sick horse!

And yes lots of pressure for a positive review. Unreal reading all these reviews she has done the same thing to everyone.
