Guitar Center, Inc. Reviews

They have an auto billing for their lessons and charged me 210 dollars for lessons despite me telling beforehand that I needed them to cancel my order.

They let my card get charged and provided me with no services and have refused to refund me.

They only people who can cancel your orders are the store manager and every time I had called and asked for the person dealing with lessons I was always met with "they are not in today." and they basically gave me the run around.

Their online way to cancel does not work and I have never been told how or given information as to how to login in to fix that. Despite me trying it does not recognize me as a customer online.

If you want a less than great experience, order something online from guitar center! We ordered a Christmas gift for our son back on 12/19/21 with a 12/22 expected deliver date, which never arrived. Guitar Center is taking no responsibility and are now passing the buck to UPS after it has been under investigation for 10 days. Still no resolution 20 days after the initial order. At this point, I just want my order, but calling customer service, talking to them through messenger and email has got us nothing but lip service.

I will never buy anything from this company again. We'll likely need to do charge back with the credit card company and reorder through Amazon, which we should have done in the first place!

Update 1/14 - Well for those who have seen my previous posts we are still fighting with Guitar Center on an order we placed before Christmas! After 10 days of not receiving it they told us was an a UPS issue and would need to investigate, but would it take up to 10 business day.

10 business days came and went and I PM'd them to which they gave me an 800 number and said to call and they would resend the order. My wife then called and spoke to someone who said they would need to investigate further but would have it resolved by today 1/14. Well, as you can imagine, she called today and surprisingly they still haven't figured it out and can't send a replacement until a "supervisor" looks at it. If you've read my previous post you'll noticed that I asked to speak to a supervisor nearly 3 weeks ago and was denied. These people are playing games! Don't spend your money at this place! They are completely incompetent. Spend the extra $20 and buy from Amazon or Sweetwater where you'll be taken care of. This is the last time I ever do business with Guitar Center.

Update - 1/17 We are now 28 days into this and still no product and no effort on Guitar Center's part to resolve! We've been promised several returned phone calls, but have received none. I've never had an experience like this! It's clear the package didn't arrive per UPS. The last customer service person had the audacity to suggest that we just pay for and order another drum set! I'm confident that they are going to do nothing to help, so at this point we've filed consumer protection complaints with the AG's office in our state and the FTC as well as a BBB complaint.

Here's the email Ive sent last monday to Guitar center Customer service. No reply til today. Tried to make the complain on the chat, been disconnected 3 times. They said they can't do nothing that I'm the one to have to deal with this at the store. In other words it seems they look the other way when a store scam customer selling used products as new. I just want to have what I paid for: A brand new product, Is that asking much?

Here the email that they never replied.

(Sent to guitar center Customer service monday 01/03/22)

I bought one mixer pioneer DJM s7 (Fountain Valley store) on 12/24. (under the name of my GF Deborah Baccini)

Long story short the product is an used (or open box) product not a brand new the way it should be.

Lots of finger marks all over the product, some pads showing a discoloration due use, missing all papers from Pioneer (manual, warranty, stickers) and also missing a Serato pitch n' time voucher that goes with this product as you can check here - https://www.pioneerdj.com/en-us/product/mixer/djm-s7/black/overview/

I'm extremely upset coz this is an expensive product and I want to believe that it was a mistake and selling used products without let customers know isn't the company policy. Anyway Is there any way to send a brand new product to the store (cerritos store is the nearest from my home) and I can go and trade for the used one that's been giving to me and pickup the product I paid for: A brand new sealed box mixer s7?

Pls contact me by email [email protected]

On March 14th of this year I went to the nearest Guitar Center to me to buy a computer recoding studio. I actually had my mind set on buying the "Presonus" package deal. But I settled on the "Apple Complete Recording Studio with Mac Mini v7 (MCEM2LL/A). By the way the store is over 50 miles one way form my house.

The sales guy I talk to was very helpful. While we were doing the necesarry paper work he told me about he exrta warrranty coverage for the system, a 60 month warranty which will cover it if it got damaged somehow no questions asked, "covered for 60 months", and that I had 45 days to bring it back to the store for a full refund no questions asked if I weren't happy with it for any reason, so I ordered it.

It was shipped UPS. When I got the shipment it had a big gapping hole in the side of the Package. The guy from UPS made it a point to hand it to me so that I didn't see the hole. When I got the box inside I started examining it. I came accross the damage and called Guitar Center. The lady on the phone told me to go ahead and open it to see if the Guitar Center box inside was also damaged, I did, and it had a hole in it too. Then she told me to open the Guitar Center box and see if the boxes inside of that box were also damaged. I did and there was damage. You could see were whatever had stuck through the two bigger boxes had hit the Microphone box, but it didn't pierce it: however; it was obviously mishandled in it journey from them to me. So I decided to return the package and so that is what we did at that point. They recieved the returned merchandise in their system on March 24th. (2018)

Here comes the point where Guitar Center starts getting messy.

Remeber I sent it back after I recieved it the first time, which was mid March, and they got it back on March 24th, so my 45 days to use it and see if I like it or not has not begun yet!

A month goes by and I haven't recieved my order yet, So I call them at the order department to check on it. They told me they had forgotten about it, but they did go ahead and send it to me then. This time they sent it FedEx.

So now I have the system and I am using it, but it starts getting slow on me. I mean it takes forever to load up a project, amungst other issues. Like when I finally get it going the head phones will some how trasfer over to coming out of the speaker even though the headphones are connected. So I decide to return it and get the one I orignally wanted to get.

Only they refuse to take the merchandise back even though I am with in the 45 day trial period. As I am writting this I am still with in the 45 days!

The manager there (The GM) told me that they don't take back Apple products (A MAC is an apple product). I told him noone ever told me that! (if they would have told me that, I never would have purchased it)! He said: "we have it posted on the wall outsde the entrance and other places through out the store". (Who the hell reads s**t posted on the walls)? So I left there highly upset, on the way out I told him I would never shop in that store ever again. (That means all Guitar Centers, never again)!

By the way I called the number on the web page the night before and talked to a girl who told me I was still with in my 45 days and if I wasn't happy with it I should return it. That's a quote! She also said: "That's a lot of money, you should get the one want". And then the next day the store refuses to honor the return.

So when I got home I called the number I called the night before and talked to several people. And they told me the same thing the GM at the Baton Rouge store told me. That they don't take returns on Apple products and I had to go through Apple, So I called Apple. Apple tells me that they do not deal with the returns concerning a 3rd party, and that I have to go through them (the 3rd party, the Guitar Center store in other words)!

So neither one of them is going to help me with Guitar Centers obvious Rip Off of my money!

I have bought numerous products from GC adding up to thousands of dollars over the years. I will never go back to them for anything!

I took my guitar in to have pickups installed and have the guitar setup. I got the guitar back and was in the store a week later stating that the guitar sounded horrible, and something wasn't right. It was looked at for about a minute and I was told nothing was wrong with the guitar. I sold an amp head and cabinet thinking maybe that was the issue, bought 3 other amps and returned all but 1 and still couldn't get the guitar to sound good at all. I then had to purchase a new guitar on Black Friday for $600 and then took the guitar to Hix Brothers where they took pictures of everything that was wrong with the guitar. I had to pay another additional $115 to have the pickups redone, the volume pod was ruined so that had to be replaced, and now the guitar is working properly. I called the store for well over a year, asking if the same person was there who did the setup, I was told yes and he was awesome, my response was no he isn't, and I wouldn't let him touch anything I own again. I was charged $130 for him to screw up my guitar and ended up costing me around $2000 in what I lost in my amp, purchase of new equipment, having the setup repair done the right way, and what I originally paid to have it done. I was offered 10 packs of strings which would probably value about $20, then offered $50 because it's been a year and a half and the 1st time the manager was hearing about it. I wouldn't take another guitar for anything back to this location because it's pretty obvious he has no clue what he's doing.
