On April 13, 2015 we were sold on the value of purchasing an energy saving gold package consisting of a solar water heater, solar pool heater, 2 solar attic fans, insolation, 15x30 foot insolated pool cover, and a copper radient barrier. It was explained to us by Green Energy's representative that by having this package installed we would save more than 30% on our electric bill / get a tax refund of more than $8,000.00 / raise the comfort level of our home, / and by paying $20,000 up front we would have the price reduced from $27,945 to $21,175.
Since the beginning we have encountered numerous problems, the radient barrier poorly installed leaving several parts of the attic uncovered a lot of it just thrown on loosely staples driven into wires causing A/C to stop working, damage to A/C ducting causing seams to leak into attic,solar fans ineffective improperly installed appear not to be operating, solar water heater has run out of hot water during periods of very little hot water use, technician they sent resolved this problem by turning up the solar high temp. to 190deg. heater temp to 144 deg. temp.causing us to be scalded by water. Solar pool heater has no seperate controls or circulating pump it only works when pool pump comes on this causes the pool pump to loose it's prime and run dry for over 15 minutes.
We have received several citations from the Palm Coast Code Enforcement Dpt. for having done this work without having building permits. We have made numerous calls to Green Energy plus certified mail and e mails to them to no avail for 4 1/2 months. We have obtained two seperate estimates as to the cost of correcting these deficiencies both estimates come to more than $11,500 each.
