Gray Taxidermy International, Inc. Reviews

We went on a charter fishing trip near Cancun, Mexico. Caught a big sail fish. Before pulling it in, the mate asked if we wanted the fish mounted because, he said, it was a rare large catch. Said he could not tell us how much it would cost but we really should get it mounted. In the excitement we said sure and the fish was reeled in. The mate then killed the fish by bending it to break its neck. he then measured it to be 74 inches. He was wearing a t-shirt from Gray Taxidermy.

On the return trip, we Were rushed to complete the paperwork for Gray including the estimate and required deposit.

Riding back in the van with guests who had been on other charters, a fellow told us he had Gray mount a sail fish for him and that it was fiberglass, only - not any part of the fish was included. That is not "taxidermy". We decided we do not want 74 inches of fiberglass, at considerable expense - we were told it would be our fish, mounted.

Returning to the U.S., we instructed our bank not to pay. We tried calling Gray but there was no answer. We emailed Gray and they called and we spoke with us. We said we wanted to cancel because we had been promised our fish would be mounted but he confirmed it was not our fish or any part of it but was to be a replica. Again, we said we did not want that and would not accept that. Now we are going around and around with our bank to try and get our $674 deposit back.

Buyer beware!!! Grays Taxidermy is a complete scam. I took a charter out of Ft Lauderdale called "Hooked Up". I caught a sailfish. The crew told me I could not bring the fish aboard to take pictures, unless I was going to have it mounted. They claimed the only reason they could bring aboard was to measure the fish. These charters are paid commission by Gray.

At any rate, the crew told me the fish would be $700 to mount. I ageed to it. Then, when we get back to the dock, the price increased to $953. I paid the $953. I was told it would be about $200 to ship it to me in KY. Then, about a month after I get home, I get an invoice from Gray for $2173 plus some ludicrous shipping charges. I immediately called and told them I did not want the fish. They refused to refund my original $953.

These people prey on tourists that won't or can't go to south Florida to take them to court. I would never use this company or recommend them. Stay as far away from these people as possible......

SCAM rip off

Do not use this service, they will not give you price upfront and then charge you in excess for shipping.

They do not give you actual fish just a wax copy but when you are fishing they tell you they it’s a real taxidermy service and pull fish out of water and since they took it out of the water you must purchase service.

They captain on the boat and Gray Taxidermy are complete scam artist and full at fish crap.

On 11/23/2017 we went on a family trip to Cabo Mexico. My son is into fishing as we own a boat. I paid several thousand dolars for three boat trips to catch Marlyns. It was my Son's dream to catch them and take lots of pictures which we did.

We cought two Marlyns that day. One 140 LB and 92 inches and the other 120 LB and 86 Inches

When we got off the boat, we were quickly approched with bunch of guys with GRAY TAXIDERMY T SHIRTS. In broken English, we were told " Sir , Sir we can taxidermy both fish and give you the meat to take home".

My 11 year old Son pleaded me to go ahead.

They gave us two receipts one for $1,535 and other for $1,420 and I paid 50% deposits.

My wife later asked me to cancel one. I did and got confirmation that they would return the deposit, which they never did.

We took pictures of the 140 LB - 92 inches as they were cleaning it. My son told me, I can't wait till I get the taxidermy on my wall back in LA.

We came back to LA with the boxes of frozen meat.

We then heard from Gray that they need additional deposit and now the transportation cost and shipping costs WHICH WAS NEVER DISCLOSED TO US.

MY SON WAITED THREE AND HALF MONTHS AND I PAID ALL THEIR CHARGES UNTIL THE FISH ARRIVED. WE TOOK IT OUT AND PUT IT ON HIS WALL. HE LOOKED AT IT AND SAID, "DAD, THIS IS NOT THE SAME FISH" . I PUNCHED THE HOLE IN THE PLASTIC AND SURE ENOUGFH IT IS PLASTIC. I CALLED THE COMPANNY IN FLORIDA TALKED TO A GUY NAME JOE AND HE SAID " THAT IS A REPLICA" . I SAID, YOU MUST BE KIDDING. IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT AS THEY MEXICAN WORKERS ARE RUSHING YOU TO GET THE FISH AND CLEAN, I SIGNED THE RECEIPTS. BUT AN AGREEMENT REQUIRES TWO SIGNATURES OF THE PARTIES AND THERE IS NO SIGNATURE ON THEIR SIDE.

AFTER PAYING SEVERAL THOUSANDS DOLLARS FOR THE TRIP , THREE FISHING BOATS , A COMPANY BY THE NAME OF GRAY TAXIDERMI THAT SUPOSED TO DO TAXIDERMI BUILDINDS PLASTICS THAT IS THE SAME SIZE AS THE FISH YOU CATCH AND THEY PAINT IT FOR YOU

I HAVE DISPUTED THE CHARGES AND WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS

I LOVE RIP OFF REPORT TO PUT IT OUT THERE
