Good Sam Roadside Assistance Reviews

I had just renewed my membership for the second year and needed my vehicle towed five miles, and since their repair facility was six miles away I choose to tow it home (which is allowed). This was my third tow in two years and shortly after this I received a letter from 'Good Sam' stating I had been cancelled because their 'statistics' showed I wasn't right for their company? Now their 'Policy' allows for "unlimited towing" and covers "all family members" as well as, "all vehicles" owned by the member. It also allows you to be towed to their nearest repair facility or to your home if it's the same distance or less free of charge! If your home is further you simply pay the towing amount difference. What we have here is simply 'Fraud'! They lie to get you to join and then will drop you at an instatnt! Their customer service are untrined, impolite, and lax! One tow took them hours to get to my vehicle! STAY AWAY! GO ! Much better service with ! Dave NJ

My truck broke down at the shore. I got a ride home to research repair ficilities in the area. After locating a place I called good Sam to have my truck towed. I told them I was not with the truck. So we set up a time for the tow 4pm. I was told they would call me at 3pm. At 4:20 I called to see where the tow was. They said they didn't order the tow because I was not with my truck. I tried to tell the arrangements were made and they were supposed too call me at 3pm. They kept repeating the same thing ,they don't call unless your with the truck. The girl said she just ordered it. After complaining and getting nowhere I asked to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor said the same thing you have to be with the truck. Then said the service would be there at 4:57 to give you a jump. I told them I needed a tow not a jump which was discussed at 2pm. So they ordered a tow truck. I complained some more they said they were transferring me to membership service. I waited for 20 min nobody picked up so I hung up. I was at the truck at 3pm so as not to waste anyone time. The tow truck finally arrived at 5:17pm

In July 2015 on my way to Chincoteaque Va my boat trailer got a flat in MD. I called Good Sam They told me they would find a tire service and call me back. I waited 15 min then called Boat US. Thhey had someone therre in 303 min to change the tire and got me back on the road. Good Sam never called me back. I guess I could still be waiting.

So Good Sam is good for Sam not his customers

Recently needed a jump start for wifes car. Called Good Sam Roadside Assistance for help. First of all the response was a recording not a person..... "all our operators are busy with other customers, we will be with as soon as possible"!! Well when your blocking traffic you sure son't wan't to hear that! When they finally did answer, about 4 minutes later, they asked a long list of questions for information they should have already had. At the end of the long list of questions, they ask me to wait again while they contacted someone to help. After another long wait, they told me that someone would come help in about 45 minutes!! I was 2 blocks from a Texaco station?? I hung up and called the Texaco station they were there in 5 minutes or less. When I had I never had these kind of frustrations. I'am dropping Good Sam today and going back to .

Our van broke down on the way home from camping… This company claims to specialize in camper vans and RVs. When I told them we had a hot air balloon basket in the vehicle I was told they did not cover commercial vehicles. This is our hobby ...My husband is a private hot air balloon pilot and through the FAA is not legally allowed to run a business so they tried to get out of towing us at first because of that. I had to speak with three different people and give the SAME info to each person (and had to repeat myself multiple times to each person), and was on the phone with them for 45 minutes, meanwhile sitting on the side of the interstate. They sold me on this membership telling me they would toe up to 100 miles to the garage of our choice. This was a Sunday afternoon on a holiday weekend ...

when I asked them to tow us 72 miles to our home they refused, telling me that was not covered in the plan I had purchased. They said they would simply toe us to the nearest exit to the nearest garage willing and able to repair our van and they would cover a hotel while we waited for the local garage door open... 2 days later! Now I'm no rocket scientist but towing a vehicle 72 miles would be cheaper than towing it to the nearest garage and then paying for a hotel...

We finally gave up and the police officer who stopped to help called a local guy just to get us off the side of the interstate. A friend who was camping with us over the weekend stopped and offered to call AAA, since she had AAA. It only took her 10 min to get a tow truck en route. Though they did initially send a tow truck that wasn't big enough to tow our van, it was a simple 5 min call to get the right size tow truck on the way. When I called Good Sam on the next business day to complain, the guy on the phone laughed after I told him I was upset. They did go ahead and refund the remaining balance on my account but then the guy hung up on me! I did call back to report the guy who laughed at me and hung up, and the supervisor was polite and said he would review the phone call, but we cancelled... Going with AAA!

Late in the evening on June the 10th, I inadvertantly left my lights on in the parking lot of Home Depot. I called Good Sam Roadside Assistance as I am a paid member through January 2017. Good Sam even sent me a Roadside Assistance sticker to attach to my vehicle.I was denied assistance and was told by Good Sam Dispatch that I was not a member. On Saturday I went to Camping World to purchase some supplies. I related my story to the cashier who looked up my account and verified that I was, in fact, paid up with Roadside Assistance.

I did write a letter saying there must be something wrong why am I being cancelled. But now I see this has happened to others. I have had the Premium service for a few years. Leaving AAA who I have been with over 20 years. Good Sam just seemed perfect and at a reasonable cost. We bought my son his first car. He wrote it off in 5 minutes only 1 mile from the house. He was lucky to be alive. The car was towed a mile back to the house. He then saved up enough for another, locked his keys in so he needed service, Then last he didn't keep an eye on his fluids and burned up the engine. So that had to be towed 10miles to a garage. This was all in a 6 month period. I received a letter saying our membership was cancelled within a month. So unlimited tows, lies. Then I got a letter asking for annual dues. Over $200. So because I used it I guess they were adding it into my dues. Yup going back to tomorrow where I know what is expected of me and know I will have great service.
