Georgia Natural Gas Reviews

  • Jan 9, 2019

I was a customer of Ga Natural Gas in good standing for 31 years and was on a budget plan of $117.00 per month, My november bill was $176.00 so i called and was told my account had been re assed and that was my new rate which was 1.39 per therm and I had had offers from other gas companies of .47 per therm.

I changed companies and then Ga Natural Gas offered me .48 per therm, which they should have done in the first place. I recieved my Dec bill and was billed $351.05 , I called to complain and was told I was taken off the plan I was on and billed full price and a $58.00 tru up charge.

I am retired and on a fixed income and for Ga Natural Gas beware of Ga natural Ga.

My bills have been more than triple what’s expected for winter. The amounts billed are too high for my budget. I’ve called repeatedly and gotten the same run around about the “cold” winter. At the same time of the cold winter, there were long periods of time where there was no one in the home, the temperatures for heating are set extremely low, no gas has been used for laundry drying, and the gas for the water heater was turned off for weeks at a time. Because you’re just a billing company, no one can give me an answer about gas usage except that the meter reads x. That’s not good service.

I did request to pay a monthly average at least until this is figured out. The company agreed to a little over $90/month, but they based the average using the last 24 months, which included 2 months of exceedingly high bills which isn’t a representative sample of our monthly use. Then the office neglected to tell me this would take a couple of months to kick in. So, imagine our surprise when the next month of outrageous billing came in again! Why does it take 2 billing cycles to change billing?

Finally, I got a number from the call center at Atlanta Gas Light for the people that can actually check the lines. This wasn’t really an emergency, but it’s treated as so by AGL and we were lucky enough to have someone check the lines. They should have a non-emergency service. And it takes a month of phone trees to get thru to AGL to register the request. Yes, there was a leak in the basement from a valve near the water heater. AGL immediately cut off the gas during one of the coldest days a couple of weeks ago, installed an on/off valve at the meter, and we were required to call in a plumber to fix the line (costing us more emergency money).

I really wonder about the value of natural gas “billing” companies. They offer no solutions, can’t remedy problems, and can’t even get billing right.
