First American Home Warranty Reviews

  • Mar 26, 2023

First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation First American Home Warranty First American Home Warranty Corp First American Home Warranty Company First American Home Warranty Corp has been accepting payments from me for 11 years, but has not provided the needed service even once. The company will take so long to provide a service that customers are forced to pay to repair the necessary item, (like a refrigerator), themselves. After weeks of waiting, we bought a new refrigerator ourselves…and stove…and dishwasher. Now our HVAC unit is out and they won’t even file a claim unless we pay $75 before we even know when the technician will come to assess the unit. It could be MONTHS, and we live in the subtropics of the Deep South. I told the, “supervisor,” I would pay when a service technician actually arrives, but I will not pay before I am even told who or when it will be. They force customers to pay a copay just to file a claim. I’ve paid them over $7000 in the last eleven years, and we’ve paid the $75 copay several times before for other covered items that failed to work properly, and we never had anything repaired or replaced by this Home Warranty company. This is extremely unethical business practice. Lawsuits have been filed against them - they can be found easily by searching the internet . The, “supervisor,” refused to let me speak to her superior, and refused to tell me who else I needed to call in order to make this right. She repeated herself over and over again, with the same sentence. I have never heard of this customer service approach, and find it to be unethical in the least. This company never intends to repair or replace anything they say they cover when they accept your money for the coverage. United States

My 71 year old disabled vet father in law has been without pluming in his house for 6 days. He called to file a claim on Saturday 7/16 and no one came out until Monday. The plumber was not able to fix it and submitted a report to the warranty compnay that tehy needed to do more and needed it approved. After me calling several times, being placed on holds for over 20 minutes and then being discounnected, I still ahve not had the ability (After several requests) to speak to a manager.

The last rep I spoke to said they were going to send another plumber out, but was not sure when they would arrive and could not guarantee it would be today.

I bought this house on July 30. I had asked for a home warranty, and the realtor chose this one without asking me. When I realized they were a terrible company (took 2 weeks to respond about a possible problem, I fixed it myself,) bought another policy with a different company, and called First Am to cancel. They said I had to write to an email address. I did, that day, on the 16th of Aug. I called back a few days later, got another foreigner, who said they would look over my request on the 23.

Meanwhile, didn't I want to keep their policy, they would make me a great deal. I declined, told them their service is lousy, and I already bought another policy. I didn't hear back, figured they were processing the check, so I waited. No check came. I called back, (another foreigner,) was told that agent who didn't speak English had noted that I decided to keep the coverage with them. I again said NO! Refund me. He said they would have to go back and listen to the tape of the conversation, and they would get back to me in 24 hours.

I waited a week, called again, this time with the agent from Choice on the line with me. They again (another foreigner,) said I had told them I wanted to keep thir coverage, it said right there in their notes. At that point, the agent helping me repeated what I said about canceling the policy, retroactive to Aug 16. and refund me. Again, they would have to listen to the tape (obviously, they didn't last week when they said they would.) I am so very tired of the run around these people have been giving me. I don't need nor want to pay for two coverages. That just makes no sense.

I told them I already had another contract, with a different company. What part of that said, "Sure, I'll stay with you guys!" ??? I want my money back. They only had the coverage on my house for 2 weeks before I contracted with a different home warranty company, and I want them to return my money, effective from the first day I asked to cncel (Aug 16.) Now. No more run around. Please. This can't be legal for them to do this.

I put in my claim to First American Home Warranty for my home A/C repair on April 16th, 2021. I am presently now at 60 days without my A/C being fixed. I live in one of the hottest spots in the country South Florida. I have never encountered such poor service in my life with any company. I bought this policy for the peace of mind of knowing that if any of my covered appliances break down, they would be fixed or replaced if can't be repaired. Over the past two months I have spoken to over 20 representatives and none of them can help me.

Can you imagine paying $600 PER YEAR FOR THE PREMIER SERVICE AND NOT GETTING ANYONE TO CALL YOU BACK? They say the part was sent out after the first month only to be lost in transit. Then they said the new replacement part would arrive by May 28th, 2021. No phone call and no part. When I call, I get a new person every time and have to go over it all again. They will listen talk and apologize and then put me on the endless hold in which we get disconnected. I then called the Office of the President and spoke to Laura Yamaguchi, She sent me an email saying the part will be in May 28th and if I had any other questions feel free to call.

The part never came in. Well I put in 3 phone voice mails and 4 emails to her on the same email she sent me. I know she is receiving both the voice and emails. No response! Everybody I speak to put me on hold and never comes back. I realize what the country has been through with Covid and back ordered parts, but that's no excuse not to call you back. They left me in limbo. The communication is zero unless you call them. If they can't get the part within a reasonable amount of time, then they should replace the unit. This is what they boast about in there sales brochure, repair of replace.

How long are you suppose to wait for a part that they can't get? At what point should they say " we can't get the part for you, so as we state, we will replace the unit". It turns out that I have a 3.5 TRANE A/C system that needs a new evaporator coil due to a leak. Well after two months they can't get me the new evaporator. How long am I suppose to go without Air Conditioning in my home with over 90 degree temperatures? They obviously don't care about customer service or fulfilling their obligation to the contract. They offered me $618.11 to buy me out. That would even cover the cost of a new part. Seems to me that since my system is an older R-22 model they would have to replace the outside condenser also to be compatible which would incur more expense to them.

Although, I'm not looking for a new system but if you can't find me the part and I can't mismatch the system with a new 410A, then they need to replace my system with equal valve A/C system.Every day I am on the phone to go through the entire problem again and again. Most of the people are very nice but are from different countries like Guatemala and other countries in South America. Some are extremity hard to understand. They try hard but once they put you on hold it's most likely the call will be terminated after 35 minutes. I have two premiere policies on two houses and cannot believe that right up to the Office of the President, no one will call you back.

I have read all the responses to these other complaints and they have the same answer, sorry for the inconvenience and letting us know about your problem so we can address these in the future. Whether they apologize or not, I'm still without A/C in my home for over two months! I just want what I paid for! I need to get a call from someone who can handle this problem, not ignore it. I will follow up with any results if I hear and let you know. It's a shame it has come to this. Ms. Yamaguchi from the President's office was well aware of this problem. I am very surprised at her for not getting back to me?. If they don't have a sense of urgency at the top, you'll never see at the lower levels. I paid for a service. They are ignoring me and not taking care of my problem!!!

If you are thinking about getting a warranty for your home, please run away from this company. We bought our first home in Oct. 2020 in Kentucky and a home warranty from First American home warranty came with it. I though this was good thing. Boy way I wrong. We started having trouble with our HVAC not cooling the entire house starting in April 2021. On April 28th, 2021 we put in a service call to First American home warranty to have a technician come out and look at it. ( request # 310506284) and paid the copay of $75.00.

I have made countless calls to customer service , and they keep telling me they are looking for a technician and someone will call us. My favorite excuse was " is this for and air conditioner or a refrigerator? " These people have no clue what they are doing. I finally had enough of the games and the run around, so I researched online for corporate numbers. On 5\18\2021, I emailed the director of service operations Jackie Hernandez and vice president of operations Barry Miles. Within 24 hours, I received a call from a woman named Laura Yamuguchi I and she said she would be the contact person from here. Within a week , she was unable to find a technician in my area .

She suggested we call someone and pay for them to come out and look at the AC unit and they would reimburse us. I was very leery about paying for anything for fear that we would never be paid back. Plus , why am I the one looking for a technician and paying for it. Isn't it the warranty companies job to handle all of this? I finally had had enough. Between my husband and I talking to Laura, she was starting to give my husband attitude. I decided to email the President Matthew Wendl and ask him to just buy us out of our contract and return our $75.00. My husband got a very nice call from Laura the next day and she had definitely changed her tune.

Well, as of today, (6\11\2021) our HVAC isn't fixed and Laura can't seem to find anyone to work with her. I wonder why?! Well, its been 7 weeks and we haven't even had a technician out to the house to look at the unit. Its hot and humid and the house takes forever to cool down and half of the vents don't blow cold air. This comany is a SCAM and they take your money and refuse to do any work. It is sad that this company is even still in business and taking peoples money .

I had a pluming leak and possible stoppage. I called & made an appt for a plumber to come out. I was told I would receive a call. I didn't get a call so I called the plumbing service. I was spoken to by someone who could barely speak English. Then I was told that "they didn't go to Coalinga." Then I called the company......

I had to speak to 2 different people and finally a supervisor. He stated that "he couldn't find a plumber in my area." My next question was simple: "If you contract policies with people in my town, and contractors sign up to work for you, don't they HAVE to go where the job is, even if it's a little out of the way?" The idiot supervisor I spoke to asked me to hold, then came back on and said the same thing again. He didn't care if they lost my business or not. The shear incompitence that this company showed was staggering. I am done with them. Period.

This company is a scam. they sold us a policy to cover water heater replacement up to $1,500, the water heater leak and need replace, so this company made a shady deal with their contractor, they ask the contractor to chargem us directly $650 for "modifications" that we do not need, and they will pay the contracotr $175 for labor plus $300 for the water heater. (several licensed plumbers told us that no modification is needed) so instead of paying $1,500 to replace the water heater they did not want to pay more than $475 total; and when we told the warrantee company that no modification is needed they offer us a pay out of $360, which is good for absolutly nothing. what a scam. i wonder why the government is not prosecting them for fraud.

This company is horrible! My pregnant wife, two children and I have been without AC in our home since Mother's Day morning! It took 4 days for a technician to come out and they said they couldn't fix my unit! They were only at my house for 20 minutes maximum. I called the warranty to ask for another technician who could work on our unit and to rush the request. They finally did this, and a new technician came this past Friday. He was much more thorough and advised we needed a full replacement for our AC Unit. He stated he would submit a report within 24 hours.

I called the next day (Sat) to confirm the warranty company received he report. They said they didn't but it wasn't for a full replacement, just a condenser on the inside unit. I explained to the reps that this was not what was found and discussed with their technician. They told me to get in touch with him to clarify. I did and he advised he hadn't sent in his report just yet. I asked the tech to text me when he did. Received a text late Saturday letting me know the report was in. I called warranty company again (Sun) to confirm it was finally in. The rep i spoke to again told me they only had a condenser listed. They advised me to call the technician again! I said No, you guys call while I hold to clear it up right now. So they did...When the rep came back he said they told the technician to submit a corrected report.

I contacted the technician directly to confirm this. He did confirm he had to submit a new report still recommending a full replacement. I called on Monday (Yesterday) and nice rep by the name of Jenny confirmed they had the report recommending a full replacement. I thought finally this is resolved and we can look forward to getting this unit replaced. BUT then today I get an email from the warranty company stating that the review for my repairs still show condenser and may not be covered. Needless to say I was frustrated and furious.

Here i thought we are good to go and apparently we are still in the same d**n boat. I called today (on phone right now) and first rep just goes in circles telling me that's all they have and nothing else. Doesn't offer to investigate any further. Ask for a supervisor and tell them to call technician again. They do and this lady comes back to advise that they don't need to replace the full unit, just the compressor. Despite the technician recommending a full replacement First American Warranty has decided it will only replace the compressor instead. I texted the technician while on the phone with the supervisor and he says again he still believes we need a full replaced unit! So the warranty company is just picking what they want to try and fix the issue besides approving with their technician told them!

This is such BS if I've ever seen or heard before. So now they're only offering a full replacement in the form of a cash payment! Why wasn't this all disclosed on Saturday, Sunday or Monday!?!?!? I have been without AC for 9 days now!!!!!!!!! My pregnant wife and kids have had to go live with her parents while I stay put because I work from home thanks to the pandemic. Way to treat your customers!!!!!!! Stay away from this company!!!! Don't do business with them!!!! Don't waste your time!!!!! Don't let whats happening to me happen to you!!!!!

We bought a house 6 months ago and the cheap sellers chose this home warranty company. We’ve had 8 basic wear and tear repair requests made and NONE of them were honored by this con artist company. This is a scam.

Every time we make a claim, we have a contractor tell us they'll do all they can, but First American Home Warranty will find a way to not honor the repair.

That is exactly what has happened EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. We've blown about $600 in service calls on these con artists. If you're buying a home, you should request another home warranty company, as you do have the choise. You've been warned.

Have leaks and water shut off and STILL can't get warranty company to approve local repair. Their guy is 200 miles away and takes 4 days to get here.

Said could get someone, then took it back, ignoring their own authorization after I got a man out here. Basically accused me of lying. Holds for 10-30 min and now after two days, still no water and I've probably placed 15 calls to get this resolved in a normal time frame.

In the end, I'll probably have to just pay for work myself.

Never again will I pay for this awful ripoff service.

Kept declining/refusing coverage for a/c that we pay extra for. We pay extra for coverage for our a/c. Back in May of this year we noticed it leaking water through the floor. I called First American and they sent someone out to look at it. To do my due diligence, I also had two other companies come look at it to diagnose and get pricing.

The guy they sent out came back and told me that it's not covered because it wasn't installed properly. When I produced the home inspection report, there was no issue there. Then they changed their story to say that it's not covered because it's an upgrade. The unit was 25 years old. Then First American came back and said that they would pay $400.

The entire unit cost us S8,2530. I tried to talk to them several times. Each time, the representative was rude and would put me on hold for at least an hour to speak with a supervisor. Once the supervisor got on the phone, they were worse with their rudeness and frankly meanness in declining to pay. I tried to be reasonable with them, but nothing I was doing was working.

They tried telling me that the several thousand dollar coil (Which they were going to give me $400 toward) was the only thing that needed to be replaced. WITH A CONDENSER THAT IS 25 YEARS OLD I decided to go with another company and was only asking for reimbursement . They told me I couldn't go to an outside company.

I know that's not true. It was just constant runaround. The pricing of the person I went with was comparable to their guy. I just wanted to work this out so it was fair. I first made the claim on 5125119. The vendor I used was SoCal Climate Control. Job #4173456.

My last resort after two months of going back and forth with them was to post on Twitter about this. After I posted on Twitter to call them out, within an hour they called me and said I was right and that they would reimburse me $5,100. I said they need to reimburse me for everything. They said they wouldn't because they didn't think we needed a furnace. See email exchange by SoCal Climate and First American that I uploaded.

They did send me a check for $5,128.31 (check number 6347221 dated 8/2109 and on the back of the check where I endorse it said: "Endorsement of this check constitutes full release of first american home warranty corp from making future repairs or replacement to your evaporative coil in your hallway." WHAT?! Did i mention that I pay extra lo have this covered???!!! I would like to be reimbursed the remaining amount of $3,124.69.

I filed this complaint with the Better Business Bureau and yesterday, I got this response from First American:

"First American Home Warranty Corporation (First American) apologizes for any inconvenience the consumer may have experienced during the handling of their claim. First American processed a cash payment for the condenser and evaporator coil replacement. First American is unable to honor the consumer's request as the requested amount is for the air condition unit upgrade and furnace replacement. First American considers this claim closed."

I responded back that I DID NOT accept this along with:

This response is similar to all of their previous responses. First they denied the entire claim calling it an upgrade. After going back and forth they relented but not fully. The entire unit is over 25 years old. It's imperative to flush out the old R-22 from the lineset or it would have contaminated the new compressor and coil. R-22 is no longer manufactured and the new units run on R-410a. They are trying to tell me that the only reason for having to replace the furnace was because our unit was upgraded to 16 seer.

That is incorrect. The blower in the old furnace was unsafe to operate, had a corroded heat exchanger, was rusted, beyond its lifespan and unsafe to operate. It had to be replaced in order to push the air flow needed for the new a/c. Also flushing the refrigeration lines is a manufacturer requirement when changing from an R-22 to R-410a refrigerant or you risk liquid line slugging and the mixing of mineral oil with the new refrigerant. Without the new furnace it would be like putting a new transmission in a car with a failing motor.

Please note that when I was in the early stages of going back and forth them First American, they told me that all I needed was a new coil and it would work find with a 25 year old condenser. Their story changes every time we correspond. In the very beginning, they said it wasn't installed properly and were denying the claim, then they said it was an upgrade, and on and on this went. First American is aggressive with their customers in denying claims and/or making it as cumbersome as possible so you'll give up. It's wrong. It's unethical.

The claims adjuster tried to tell me that the furnace (heating) is separate from the air conditioning and that they are independent and that the evaporator coil's failure has nothing to do with the blower (located inside the furnace). Of course, it's separate but you can't work one without the other. This is, yet another slap in the face, as the old furnace would not have worked with the new coil/compressor. They are mincing words and leaning on technicalities of those words to deny the claim. The furnace is the workhorse of any central HVAC system. It's the blower of the system whether the air is hot or cold.

It's clear that First American does not care about its customers. Only their bottom line at our expense. First American owes me the balance of my claim. Period."

They are a huge corporation stepping on hardworking people who trusted them to follow through on their promise. They need to pay for what is outstanding.

Company sends out the sketchiest two "plumbers" you could imagine. I had reported a plumbing stoppage but they looked in the toilet tank and that was it. I didn't stop them because I wanted them gone. I immediately complained and was told they would waive the $75. I didn't hear anything for at least a month, then I got hounded to pay the $75.00.

August 1st I filed a claim as I had no hot water. Two days later, still no contractor and no follow ups from them even though I was assured it was considered an emergency and someone would be out within 24 hours. That was a month ago.

Beware of this company. Do your research. They will scam you, talk rude to you (if you can understand them), and hire the bottom of the barrel vendors!

My Family has been selling Real Estate since 1965 and I always recommend my buyers protect their investment by buying a Home Warranty, but I will RECOMMEND them to STAY AWAY FROM FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY!! THEY ARE A RIPOFF !! They are a waste of money and full of BS, and will find a lame excuse for NOT COVERING WHAT THEY PROMISE!!

I recently bought a "Premier Plan" as printed in my contract, and of course when the garage tech arrived, he argued that the company said I only have a Standard Plan, even though I paid and my contract that they sent me clearly states "Premier Plan", so strike one! We called them after the garage door would not open because the garage door unit would no longer receive signals from the remotes, with the tech explaining as I had already figured, since we put in brand new batteries in all the remotes, and even bought factory compatible remotes thinking that might be the problem.

The signal receiver is part of the electronics housed in the garage door's electronics, which the tech told us needs to be replaced, BUUUUT First American Home Warranty states "we do not cover remotes" and refused to replace the internal receiver. When I tell them this is NOT the REMOTES, it is the electronics of the garage door opener itself, the Morons just repeat the same line; "Sorry sir, we do not cover remotes", again I tell them this in NOT the remotes that failed but the door opener itself, they just repeat the same line.

The garage door tech called them, and they just repeated the same thing, and even HE told them this was not the remotes and it was electronic receiver inside the unit's electronics. The tech then went on to offer us a new unit for $900.00 that we would have to pay out of our pocket. MORALE OF THE STORY - STAY AWAY FROM FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY !!!

Send out incompetent service people whom lie and say you did not pay the 75 dollar fee , they also lie on there plumbing stoppage, its supposed to cover drain pipe but they deny claims outside the house, put band aids on items rather than fix them correctly.

Also said i could get a free keying to my house what a lie, i had a toliet run over in 4 days could not get anyone to come out told me to pay and i would get reinbursted cost me 50 nthey only paid me 75 dollar.s wow, WHAT A RIP OFF.

  • May 27, 2019

I called FAHW because I had a leaking dishwasher that came with the house to put in a claim. A tech came out and noted that the front hinges on the door were bad and he told me that the company said they opted to replace the dishwasher vs. repairing the parts on the door.

A few weeks later I call them and am told that they are denying the claim, the reason they decided to deny the claim was a single missing plastic roller in the middle on the bottom shelf (a $2 part) that nobody had noticed from before the purchase of the home because it didn't effect function - this missing wheel had nothing to do with the leaking.

FAHW stated that they have a clause in the legalize in the contract that allows them to deny any claim at their option if a tech. notes any missing or broken parts or knobs or anything else and they told me there is nothing that I can do and that I am out of luck.

I even offered to buy and replace the little plastic wheel myself and asked if they would honor the warranty if I did that and they said no because once the tech. notes anything is missing they have it on record and will deny the claim. This is a dishonorable company that employees rude people that barely speak english and refuses to keep their word.

I am even going to loose over $100 on the cancellation due to "processing fees" and they can decide not to let me cancel. In other words, go elsewhere with your home warranty needs, and don't deal with this company if you can help it - they are ripping people off.

The electrical contractor came out after a couple of weeks and said within 10 minutes the problem was outside. Then the company refused to cover. The outside had nothing to do with it. Was all inside. They said get another contractor and if legit we will reimburse.

After several weeks of stalling and the run around they still do not cover the wiring when it clearly states they do. This is a rip off scam. $2,400 of repairs and nothing. Total ripoff.

  • May 3, 2019

Dennis J Gilmore, Parker S Kennedy are the CEO's of the rip off company called First American Home Warranty or FAHW. We have an in-wall air conditioner/heater. I called FAHW 6 weeks ago because the unit did not turn on for air conditioning. They sent out a local company only to find that the 240V outlet was not connected to the fuse box.

FAHW rep said that electrical was not covered because of pre-existing condition and I would have to pay an electrician to fix. I confirmed with the rep "If I pay for the electrical and there is something wrong with the unit, it will be covered?" Yes", I was told. I paid an electrician to hook up the electrical. After the hook up the unit still did not work I called FAHW.

They sent out another (different) company to look at the wall unit. That service rep says the unit cannot be repaired. He went as far as to cut the cord to the unit because he felt it was unsafe. He then called FAHW to get an approval and they (FAHW) DENIED THE CLAIM! Stating they do not cover ductless systems. The company doesn't even know what they cover and don't cover.

They DONT cover mini-split ductless systems. This is not an MSDS. They DO cover in-wall units. This IS an in-wall unit. You can bet FAHW will offer some sort of lip service as a response to this complaint. If you are a home buyer or seller DO NOT BUY A HOME WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY. And, by the way, they try to wear you out on the phone when you call in to dispute their findings.

I have spent WELL over two hours on the phone with these clowns and countless more hours meeting their fly by night "service partners".

Called First American to report my AC was freezing up, as in ice was the outside unit. They have a contract with Total Air Care. The Total Air Care tech came out and claimed there was nothig wrong with my AC. Two days later, my AC had water dripping everywhere, all over the ceiling, all over the garage and ruining the duct system. I called First American, they told me they denied my claim because it was my fault.

I purchased a home and the seller used this horrible warrany company, probably becuase it was the cheapest. And since he was the seller and I was the buyer, why would he care if they never serviced the appliances? Thats why buyers choose this company, because its CHEAP and thats about all. They are leaving the house to you so coverage is inconcequential to them. The home I purchased had a wonderful Traulsen Fridge, no different than a Sub Zero, one of the best fridges money can buy. Created for commercial applications but has been quickly gaining popularity in upscale homes.

The fridge was running warm and I called the First American for repair. They sent a "repair person" over who dismanted it and later, after totally disabling it, said he could not fix it. He left it worse than he found it but said he would come back with the right parts. A few days later i contacted First American to find out what was going on. They told me, at that time, after I called to inquire that they had decided to deny my coverage.

My contract clearly states my kitchen fridge is covered up to $5K. Yes, they made the decision not to cover it. Their reason, because THEY consider it to be a "commercial fridge" and they dont cover anything commercial. If that was the case, why did they send a repairman who ASKED me for the model number to confirm coverage, why did they send someone over to repair it and charge me $75 and WHY did they not tell me it wasnt covered BEFORE the guy came and dismantled it? T

his is totally unacceptable behavior from a company that claims to be a home warantee company. If you are a home buyer, DO NOT ACCEPT FiRST AMERICAN as your warrantee company. If you are seller, dont be cheap, do the right thing and choose a reputible company. If you own any high end appliances like Viking, Sub Zero, Traulsen, etc, DO NOT PURCHASE A POLICY FROM THIS COMPANY. Read the fine print, they do not cover anything which THEY MIGHT at some point decide to deem "commercial". This is NOT the company for high end appliances.

IF YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY, THEN DONATE TO FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY. THEY ARE THE MOST CROOKED COMPANY IN EXISTANCE TODAY.

When my hot water and water pressure began to fail, I called my warranty company. They sent out a plumber who after 2 hours at my home, reported to First American that the water heater needed to be replaced. So First American sent out another plumber who said I needed to service and clean the inside of the water heater which I do every 3 months because of the hard water.

This plumber wanted $300 to service the water heater which First American claims is not covered. So I immediately refused to renew my contract with them. I service my tankless water heater every 3 months myself. But First American wanted me to pay THEIR plumber to do the exact same procedure I do every 3 months. They refused to replace my water heater.

Bought a service for 2 homes (contract started 8/23/17). Our dryer's drum needed to be oiled (it started making squeaking noises), so I called them 9/22/17 to have someone come and oil it. They said the contract didn't start until 9/23/17 for some claims grace period (which sounded like some kind of BS crap to me, but whatever). Didn't think anything about it because I could handle the noise, so I didn't even call back that next day. Then the next week, Monday it wouldn't start at all-it lit up but wouldn't start at all. So I called to make a claim and got no response, so I finally called them 9/27/17 and they said because I called on 9/22/17-it was a preexisting condition! Even though it wasn't because it wasn't BROKEN until 9/27/17! It's just one big huge SCAM!!!! So I'm cancelling all of our other homes and going back to Landmark Home Warranty-they were more expensive, but at least not a SCAM!!!!

I am 69 years old and I was sold high premium Home waranty, and then when (in July 2016) I needed the service for the central air conditioning I was sent someone who could not work on the unit(was not trained). Then another who did not know what to do. Then I was told that company would send out some one else and weeks went buy and I kept calling and asking when someone would come. Then they said I had to call the home waranty company back again to get it authorized. (It was clear that they are not making enough money to care!) So, once again I asked for this to be done. They sent someone once again that said there was not much he could do that it was as good as he could do! What! But the upsatirs did not cool! How does sthat work? I pay for some one to come out and say that is as good as it gets, no repair or replace as I was promised! again I ask for someone else, same deal no repair just more excuses. This was still going on in October2016 from July 2016! Then I just could not spend any more time on this. I feel completely victimized! them i had a leak from the refrigerator and they sent some one who said it was fixed and the same leak started again! I have spoken to other people lately that had the smae kind of experience with this company. I wish there was a way to let everyone know how fraudulent this company is. Maybe I should start Blog of Shame.

I am very disappointed with the service I received regarding First American Home Warranty

They are refusing to fix a covered problem.

Last summer, a problem arose with my A/C. First American dispatched a contractor to contact me. He did, within the 24 hour period he was supposed to. He said he would fix it by the next day. He no-called, no-showed the appointment. I left repeated calls for him, but he didn't bother returning them until a week later. Meanwhile, my family was without A/C for over a week, in August. First American agreed to allow another contractor to come. I had to pay him and get reimbursed from First American. It took over 4 months for First American to return my money. The service from First American was so lousy, they even returned my service fee.

On Sunday, July 24, 2016, my A/C went out again. I said the previous was not permitted to do the work due to the unprofessionalism last year. Despite that, First American insisted that I allow that contractor to do the work. First American does not get to decide who is allowed in MY home. Your claims department refused to service the A/C with another contractor.

I filed a BBB complaint, fixed the unit myself, after many hours of research, and trial and error. Only after I filed the complaint did First American agree to send another contractor (after the unit was fixed). First American agreed to reimburse me, but now have refused to do so, breaching their contract.

I closed on my home on 10/12/2016 and within one week my dishwasher leaked all over the kitchen floor, which got me upset. The repair company (Coastal Florida Heat Air & Appliances came out to acess the problem, at that time they said they would be back soon. I got a email today that stated that the part was ordered today - how crazy is that...

So I do not have a dishwasher in my home.

Non covered charges are hidden ,First American contractor informs you of the non covered charges. Not First American they will not notify you of the non covered items until you file your claim, they are untrust worthy . Customer service is 2nd english speaking reps which makes hard to relay what they are trained to tell you. Customer serivce is horable and most of the reps are very rude and unfriendly there to make your incomming call worse than your day has already been. Do not cross any of the customer serive reps or your claim will not go through. Ask for a supervisor or manager you will not get one on the line. My AC unit compressor went out this would be my 6th ac service call within 2 years . I was told by several reps that is was covered I called several times to make sure it was covered. First American did not inform me of the non covered items the contactor stated upon my calling them" contractor states that they were waiting on FA to authorize non coverage 400.00 caught by suprise . Line set flush and electrical mode. These non coverages do not add up to set quoted price per a license ac tech and electrician . I asked to cash out per FA 373.00 was the pay out mind you a compressor is a couple of thousand for a regular consumer to purchase. Buyer beware of this company!

AHS as i'm finding in other reports does not cover 'modifications' to that are REQUIRED to install a hot water heater. The supply lines always need to be adjusted for the new unit and this mandatory item is not covered. the contractor is taking an additional $300 to take 2" out of the vent and supply lines!!!!! in addition to a 'code' change valve $95 plus $75 service fee. it would have had better service cheaper in cash! this is fraud as they list in their contract

5. WATER HEATERS

COVERED: All components and parts, including tankless water heaters and circulating pumps, except:

NOT COVERED: AUXILIARY HOLDING OR STORAGE TANKS – NOISE – FUEL STORAGE TANK AND ENERGY CONSERVATION UNIT.

But fail to pay for required work and use scam contractors that over charge no covered 'modifications'. class action bandwagon

I filed a claim on May 27 and a service repairman came out on May 28. On June 2 I rechecked an email that my unit would be replaced. I have not received any further communication from the company since then despite my multiple phone calls to resolve my claim. I have been hung up on numerous times when asking to speak to a supervisor to clarify my concerns. At least 90% of my phone calls were not even noted in my profile that I had called in. They have no problem taking my payment every month for home insurance but when it comes time and you need something replaced there is no communication and you are offered the cheapest gum ball machine option possible.

VERY dissappointed with First American Home Warranty provided in purchase of my new home. i was informed upon trying to file claim due to fridge not cooling that it is not covered in warranty. Seller paid 395.00 for this warranty service and for what? i assumed it covered appliances that came with new home. I see Tv ads for First American Home warranty and had considering renewing contract in 6 months. Don't think so now.. why waste $395.00.

I am calling on all of my colleagues in the real estate industry Nationwide to help me make First American Home Buyer's Protection regret the way they've treated me as a customer who has loyally paid his dues every single month for the past 4 plus years.

I have documented hours and hours on the phone trying to get this corrected... They simply refuse to replace my fridgerator with a comaprable unit using back door tactics to completely ignore my need for a replacement Appliance. The broken item on my Appliance is no longer in circulation and cannot be rebuilt they told me they would give me a cash out for the replacement part instead of the entire frigerator. When just days before they agreed to cash me out for the entire applience so I can go buy a comparfable applience. What would I do with a hunderd dollars and a broken applience??

This is absurd because I can't even buy the replacement part because it doesn't exist.

My policy says they would replace the fridgerator if they could not fix or find me a comparable replacement and they're refusing to do it because the motherboard is on the front door. This board controls the entire frigerator it's like driving a car without a steering wheel and dashboard.

Meanwhile I am forced to live with a Hotel mini fridge that cant fit even a gallon of milk in it. This is coausing me serious emotional stress and to top it off I am a Realtor and recommend home warranties on a daily basis to my prospective clients. Let's let this insurance farce know how bad they messed up this time. It's time for the voices of the professional Community who contributes to their Deep Pockets know that this message will not go unheard.

All I want is a replacement Appliance but they just seem to not want to make this right. Any attourneys that read this feel free to call me and lets talk in more detail. I am not going to give up on this. This is just not good business.

I'm writing this to let everybody know that First American Home Warranty company does not fix or replace any thing they say. The repairman that came out to my home to fix the heat made it worse and then broke the air conditioner as well and now I have no heat nor air conditioner. I have a daughter that has athmas and a newborn living in the home and when I call this company back they told me a well there s nothing they could do for me. I asked them what kind of home warranty company are they and they said a good one but they can't help me and left me high and dry with no heat or air and I live in Florida. My husband is disabled and I'm on a pension, and we can't afford a new system and now we have nothing due to this First American Home Warranty Company.they broke our system and they won't fix what they broke nor replace what they broke. We have to suffer with nothing now due to we have no money either. I call this company and talk to number of people who all told me the same, the last guy of this company got very pissed and dismissed me told me not to call again nice company.

I purchased a new home owners warranty in good faith through First American Home Buyers Protection and will never do so again.

The repairs are never fixed and multiple trips have to be made; still, the problems are unresolved and First American Home Buyers Protection wants additional money in order to continue to resolved the failed repairs.I have had plumbing repairs and electrical...still unresolved.

Here is the latest example: when I turned my ceiling fan on it made a terrible humming noise, like there was some sort of electrical (buzzing) problem. I called the First Protection Home Buyers Warranty who advised the repair was covered. The electrical company came out and I paid them (out of pocket) $60 dollars for the repair. The electrician flipped the switch on and off three times and said I needed to replace the ceiling fan. Over the next 30 days or so, I purchased another ceiling fan, paid to have it installed only to have the same problem. I just got off the phone with First Protection Home Buyers Warranty and they said it would be another $60 dollars for a new service call to fix the same problem. I have been out $60 for the original warranty service call, $106 for a ceiling fan, $80 to install ceiling fan....total bill thus far $246 dollars. Now I am being asked to pay an additional $60 for another service call for a problem that was never resolved......bringing the total to $306.

Needless to say, I would have been better off by NOT having a home owners warranty plan!

About 3 years ago I switched from American Homeshield to First American Home Buyers Protection. For the first year, I received good service. From the second year on, the service their company provides is awlful. I specifically asked when I purchased their plan whether it would include the type of heating and A/C system that I have and I was assured that it would. I purchased both their Premier Plan and their First Class Upgrade to make sure and to cover myself for repairs. Each and every time that I called for service or make a claim; I always got claim representatives that do not know their jobs. They kept telling me the type of heating and A/C system that I have is not covered even though I had made a earlier claim and it was repaired. Then they kept sending out the wrong vendors who could not or would not repair the system that I have. Everytime I have called the claims department I am put on a merry go round with no end to the problems that I have experienced with them. I have even recommended their company to friends, which I am now sorry that I did. This winter when my contract expires I will not be renewing my contract with them again and I would highly not recommend them.
