Was referred to Jeremy laflave of Fineline construction by a old friend. This guy comes in talking like he's famous or something, thinks he's a big deal because he drives a lifted ford truck. Really he just has a lot of compensating to do and a lot of debt. I do over 1.8 million in the home exterior envelope every year. I'm pretty confident I make not only more money each year but that I do every project I sale legally. Jeremy comes in to bid a water leak restoration and immediately starts talking about things that have nothing to do with the water damage. This is when I knew he was not going to last long in this industry and that he wasn't the right guy for the job. He attempted to gain entrance to the property one day with no contract or even a start date. He was fired obviously. Every job I do starts with a 13 page legal documents like Lein laws notice and 3 day ressicion docs. There is no verbal agreements, if something changes I bring out a addendum or change order. Obviously this company doesn't know what these documents are because there was nothing exchanged or signed. Another contractor came into do the work and had all documents done the same way I do for my company. They did a great job and it looked like everything was in the past.
A month and a half after telling fineline construction to hit the road we received a text message from Jeremy laflave stating we owed the sales tax on the job and he was required to pay it or he would be fined. Said he just received a call about it and wanted to know when he could come get it. First off he never even said a amount. Second, how do you owe taxes on a job you never did or insurance money you never received. We don't respond because we don't believe him. The next day he sends a threatening email stating he was on his way to courthouse to file a Lein on the property for the undisclosed mystery amount and to sue for lost profits and overhead. I called him with my girlfriend on 3 way call to ask him how that was possible. When I'm mad it's very apparent and he took it as a threat and called me a b*h and hung up. I really don't blame him, I'd f* him so hard his mom would feel it. I called back and he got emotional and started saying nonsence like I have no money and I live off my girlfriend. Okay buddy. I make 15-20k a month profit I'm not going to scam somebody out of taxes that aren't there. Then he sends a email to my girlfriend about me calling him 5 times and threatening to hurt him. She just laughed. She was on the phone the whole time. Moral of the story is this guy lies thru his teeth about everything he says and if you chose to do business with his company, make sure your aware of your rights and have proper legal documents signed by both parties.
