Families For Children, Inc. Reviews

  • Nov 1, 2016

I was working for another FFA (foster family agency). Beginning of July the employees were notified that the agency was closing down. I had maintained excellant relationships with the foster families. I know there was another adoption/foster agency in El Dorado Hills. I contacted them and presented my qualifications.

FFC was notified as a possible agency for the families to transfer over to.

In coordination with FFC we began setting up informational meetings for FFC to meet the foster parents to encourage them to transfer over with their foster kids in placement - to FFC.

I was offered a job as office manager at $17 per hour. I started end of July part time. August 1, 2016 I started full time. By law benefit are supposed to begin 30 days after your first full month of employment which should have been Sept. 1. My benefits didnt' start until Oct. 1.

At every opportunity you can imagine my co-worker (who also came over from the other agency) were critized and bullied. There was zero trust. The agency directors acted with much paranoia.

Most of the families transferred over. One that did not was told by their county social worker that if they did-she would not support the adoption they were in the process of completing. The CSW formerly had been employed by FFC and had horrible things to say about the agency and Ursula. That should have been the first red flag.

In Sept. I was told I would be working in the Roseville office as well in order to maintain full time hours and benefits.

I acknowledge that I had made a few errors in the tracking system (come to find out 3 months later I had been given a procedure manual that was out of date by a couple of years) AFter that my pay was decreased by $2 an hour to $15 per hour. This was done without a formal corrective action plan to meet or exceed. Then nothing was done in writing to provide a plan to bring my pay back up.

Also, I was responsible for recruitment and representing FFC at events. That was taken away.

Today I was told I would be only working in the EDH office and was reduced to 16 hours from 40 hours. Loosing benefits and many hours.

Did some further research and found this website and the lawsuit.

I'm still working here for now - so want to remain very confidential.
