EZ Moving Van Lines, Inc. Reviews

  • Jan 26, 2018

In November I contracted with EZ Moving Van Lines to move from MA to TN. I was told my furniture qould be picked up the 3rd or 4th of December and moved directly to Tennessee. The movers arrived on the 3rd. I was told that the furniture would arrive in TN in 7 to 10 days. I expected to get my furniture in 4 days. This cost my family a lot of motel bills. My furniture arrived 14 days later!

The cost of the move was estimated to be $8,326.37. We paid $4,656.31 upfront. We were supposed to pay the movers $1,835.03 in cash on pickup and again on delivery. After packing the truck the packers told me that my furniture weighed a lot more than estimated. They calculated that I should pay $11,668.33 total. They did not weigh the truck to calculate this. I signed what I thought was a bill of lading. Unbeknownst to me I had signed a contract and they would not have to weigh the truck.

I was told a window of 5 days from pickup date is what it will take to get my furniture. Furniture pickup was on Thursday 06/29 .Day 5 which was on Monday 07/03 I called and was being told delivery was now 7-10 days from pick up. I called again on 07/05, which is day 7 and I'm told delivery would be 5- 8 days from that day and not from the pickup date! This is totally not what was conveyed to me. How is this appropriate ? Not only was I charged more than double on pickup, because I was given a wrong quote and provided with very little space in a medium sized van to begin with, I was also provided with false delivery date information. I was told initially it would cost $2238.38 in total, I payed a deposit of $931.71 and on pickup would pay half of the remaining cost and on delivery the remaining half.

I was charged $5509 on pick up and ended up paying $3078 that day and I'm yet to pay $1500 in cash on delivery. There were other companies but I went with this because of the cost and 5 day guarantee which obviously turned out to be false marketing. After speaking with Mike the contact person on 07/05 he then added the phrases "at least" 5 days 'to 24 days' when confronted, he did not state this before collecting $931.71 deposit. Mike did not give all the information required to make an informed decision he deliberately withheld any necessary detail before demanding the deposit. I called last week and was told delivery will be by the middle of this week( so from July 18th to 21st).

I called today July 18th, It took me 5 tries today to actually speak to someone. You call , they pick up and leave you on hold hoping you will get frustrated and hang up, they told me delivery would be next week... last time i spoke with them it was supposed to be this week? when confronted they have no answer. I am beyond frustrated and in tears .My books are with my belongings , I have my exams next month and I cannot study due to this disgusting excuse of a moving comapny. I have been gouged out of every penny I own yet they cannot even have the decency to deliver my belongings. Did I not pay for services in full? why am I being treated like this. They need to be held accountable for their actions.

***LICENSE TO STEAL***

This is my experience with EZ MOVING VAN LINES.

Olis Taylor lied and misrepresented my contract/estimate and charges. My first binding estimate was $1471 from Nate Diaz, and to be charged an additional 42 cents for every pound over 2170. During the original quote, I told them that I had a 2 bedroom apartment worth of stuff minus a couch and entertainment center I wasn't taking. From there the only specific question they asked me was how many boxes I would have at which I guessed 62. I came in at 73 boxes and all together had a total of 99 items. They never asked me about bikes, furniture, grill, beds (although I did say that I have a 2 BEDROOM apartment), etc. LESS THAN 24 HOURS before the pickup they called me for a detailed inventory and changed my quote to $3700. In the original binding estiamte, it states that they will be calling me 2-5 days before my pickup date. How is it acceptable that a moving company calls you less than 24 hours from the date of your move and then quotes you more than two and a half times the orginal amount?

I spoke with the head of Quality Assurance there, Olis Taylor, and he said that there was an algorithm they had to follow per the DOT and assured me that I would only be charged the 42 cents per pound over on top of my original binding estimate of $1471. One example he gave, he said when we enter a queen size bed, the system estimates 700 lbs. I told him my bed doesn't weigh close to 700 lbs. He replied that I am only being charged 42 cents per lb that I use. That was just one example he gave among many in relation to my inventory. So I e-signed the new document for two reasons: I was told that I am being held to my original binding estimate(the only contract I have access to) and this phone call happened less than 24 hours before my move date so I had no other choice.

This is what I was expecting to pay according to my first original binding estimate:

Oringal weight quote was for 2170 lbs

Total weight according to truck weigh-in was 3320 lbs

3320 - 2170 = 1150

1150 * .42 = 483

483 * 1.09 (9% fuel surcharge) = 526

$1471 + $526 = $1997

Now, they are telling me that they are only going to credit me back 21 cents per pound on the weight that they overestimated that I did not need. After I e-signed, my quote and paperwork link was no longer available. I e-mailed and called Olis Taylor several times and never heard back. During my last attempt, I spoke with Melanie in customer service and asked to be transferred to Olis Taylor. After about 10 minutes of holding, Melanie came back on the line and said he won't talk to me and that her supervisor said that he is not required to talk to me. Melanie offered to have her supervisor Becky call me. I still have yet to hear from Becky.

Also, I was never informed of when and where the pre-weight will be held for the truck and I have the right to observe that weigh-in. I was never told when or where this weigh-in would happen nor did I waive my right to be at the weigh-in.

Ez van lines moving company Company did not show up 2 days in a row could not reach dispatcher. They never produced insurance forms they left me stranded. I had to pay huge premium to book other company at last minute. Never use them. They are dishonest and highly incompetent I am sure they have been sued before and they deserve to be.

The companies associated picked up our belongings in Bristol CT. They were scheduled to drop off our stuff on 6/4/17 in Cocoa Fl. Boost moving and EZ Moving are now lying by telling us that the truck left and our stuff was never loaded. We have been hearing this for 2 weeks now. I have asked for Gary (the supposed owner of EZ) to contact us about our situation and no respose.

My husband and I are wondering if our stuff even exists anymore. Numerous lies, excuses, and now avoidence have prompted this report. Both companies have promised numerous return calls and never call us back. They promised to give us the number of the driver assigned to drive the property down than said the truck is broke. A dispatcher we were able to reach told us that your stuff hasnt even been assigned, scheduled, or loaded. We told him we were going to file a complaint, his response was he didn't care. Our stuff wasn't going to be delivered until they want to schedule it.

EZ Moving has now taken Boost's attitude and has decided to follow their example by stating there is nothing they can do for us. It is in the other company's hands and all they can do is keep calling them.

I schedule this company on Feb. 23,2017 with an estimate of 1938.55 for estimated 3112 lbs.

When they called the day before move to further estimate for accuracy, they more than doubled my estimate to 7473 lbs, which was absurd to me. Also from the origan estimate, they added the following fees:

$2000 for booking

$500 for origin destination

$150 for bulky items

None of these fees were on the initial estimate and no one could, or would explain these to me.

So now my new estimate is $5478 for a move that was originally less than $2k.

I also requested a 26' truck to allow my utility trailer to be loaded so I didn't need to tow it from PA to FL.

They sent a 18' truck instead, si I ended up towing my trailer 5 states. Also they weighed the truck they sent empty, but after 2 days thet still hadn't sent me post-load weitght because they "lost the receipt". As of now I am not only extremely upset but feel like they are really messing with me.

Finally they weighed my stuff and ended up with a weight of 3780 lbs, which is far less thn the absurd weight of 7473 lbs previously. Durung this entire process they were charging me $.45/lb for move, but when weight was so low, they only deducted $.10/lb, so another rip off that was entirely their fault and/or miscalculation.

I have had nothing but stress, complacency, lack of interest and concern from this company. I called customer service many times to no avail.

Basically, I feel to be fair to both me and this company, they should honor my original estimate price of 1938.55 and add the weight difference of 668 lbs @ $.45/lb, add fuel costs proportional to the extra weight of approx. $200 and therefore, my entire move should have cost approx $2500, not an absurd almost $5500.

Why should I pay almost $3k more for a move that they told me they could do for much less back in February. I feel absolutely violated, taken advantage of and even to the point of feeling lke this is a predatory consume practice. Also, they made me feel like they were extorting me to pay them this extra money or otherwise I couldn't get my stuff from them.

This is the worst experience I have ever had, and my retirement went from peaceful to the most stress and contridiction of a sitiuation I have ever experienced.

Do Not ever use this company - all they care about is getting money - not their customers at all !!!

Terrible customer service. This company is a brokerage who markets themselves as full service movers. They are NOT accredited by the Better Business Bureau. There have also been several complaints filed against them with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

EZ contracted my move out to a company that was - at best - not equipped to handle the job. EZ did very little to help us or provide assistance when we expressed confusion and concern about how our move was being handled by the company they gave us to.

They are uncommunicative. No one ever calls you back and when you finally get someone on the phone they were always "just about to call you." There is a level of indifference that I found to be astounding. EZ throws their customers to the wolves.

My movers showed up almost two weeks late, and in the end, I wound up paying over $800 more than the "binding" estimate EZ provided. I was legitimately concerned I would not get my stuff back, and EZ really couldn't be bothered. This estimate also said I would get a "professional full service move" and "expert moving advice" - two things I definitely did not receive.

Dealing with this company is exhausting, frustrating, and expensive.
