I signed up (stupidly) for a free sample of two products, an under-eye cream and a face cream. Never received a confirming e-mail or any further info. The samples arrived, each in a separate box through Amazon, with no paperwork at all and no return address. I couldn't remember ordering them. The credit card bill a month later showed not only the shipping charge of $4.95 per box but also $89.58 for the eye cream and $89.65.
I called to object and was told there are no refunds because the 14-day trial period had expired. How was I supposed to tell them I didn't want the product or return it with no documentation or addresses. The support person then said I could get a discount on other products. I asked to cancel any further orders and was given a cancellation number. Had I not insisted on cancellation, I would have been billed $89.58 and $89.65 each monthl and, I suppose, received more tiny sample bottles. The customer support staff were unphased by anything I said, very well trained to answer complaint with a new discount offer.
