ExpertLaw Reviews

  • Sep 25, 2017

Over four years ago, I filed a negative review of ExpertLaw on another review site. I faced the same issues with some of the site's Senior Members that are mentioned in the other two reviews here. They made false assumptions about me, edited and deleted several of the posts in the thread (both from myself and the Senior Members), and did not provide any helpful advice to the questions I was asking. When I mentioned that they were not actually providing any legal advice, they banned me from the site.

When I posted my review, I noticed that I was by far not the only one who has had this experience with ExpertLaw. I figured that was the end of it- I would never visit the site again, had made my personal recommendation against it so that others could avoid having similar experiences, did my own legal research and was able to get my questions resolved in the court without the use of an attorney.

Four years later, just yesterday, I get an e-mail notification that the owner of ExpertLaw responded to the review. I read it, and his comments imply that no such behavior exists on his site, and it is a "positive and informative site". I further notice that within the past week or two, he has taken it upon himself to respond to each less-than-favorable review by discrediting our complaints and concerns, essentially painting us as liars, and claiming the we are "abusing the site to make negative reviews".

When I first responded to his comment on my post, it updated the review, making a second review. He called that into question, and proceeded to justify the actions of the Senior Members, claiming that I have "vitriol for no reason".

Until this point in my life, I have never witnessed a business respond this way to issues. I feel that a reputable business would respond promptly (not stir the pot four years after it was brought to their attention), and would try to see what they could do to remedy the concerns. Instead, Mr. Larson has continued perpetuate the same false assumptions that his Senior Members made years ago. I am appalled by this. Perhaps these issues only exist in the forum section of his site, but if he knows that it is being run that way, and continues to condone it, that is a problem. Other reputable websites have rules in place to prevent trolling and personal attacks, or will allow you to report and hopefully remove negative content. If you are a Senior Member on his site, you can say whatever you like about whoever you like, apparently. If you are not a Senior Member, you run the risk of being told that your words are worthless, and possibly end up having them censored- not because they are false or inflammatory, but because how dare you to not agree that they are "all-knowing".

I agree with the previous reviewer that something needs to be done about the ExpertLaw forum so that these issues do not continue.
