eHost.com Reviews

I attempted to set up a website called "supporttails.com" on June 11, 2016 and selected one "option" of tools to try and build the site. Immediately after trying to use that set of tools I found it too cumbersome. I contacted them requesting the site be switched to the alternate set of tools and was told that they couldn't do that, that I'd have to create a whole new domain - be billed for that then cancel the first domain. Instead I submitted a request to cancel my account. Instead of canceling it and thought I was done with them. Instead what happened was a "trouble ticket" apparently was created and in that ticket, unbeknownst to me, was a request for me to reply saying "pretty please, I really want to cancel my account". The ingenious folks at ehost create a trouble ticket and send it to your email from a different domain name - the trouble ticket comes to your email from ticketapi.hostgator.com with a reply to address of

eHosts #######@tickets.ehosts.com (where the ## are some numbers presumably the trouble ticket number or some other designator). However, as a consumer you don't know that any further activity is required of you and the trouble ticket - at least in the case of most email servers - is directed to your SPAM folder. This is what happened to me and my gmail.com ID

Flash forward, mid December 2017 I get an email that comes to my INBOX- because it is coming from the ehosts.com domain and not ticketapi.hostgator.com domain. The email basically is talking about my supporttales.com domain and I'm royally confused because hey I cancelled that back on June 12, 2016. Oh so sad, too bad Miss Consumer - since you didn't respond to the email you weren't expecting that we surreptitiously had directed to your SPAM folder. We didn't cancel your account!! Ha ha, missed the 30 day money back guarantee.

On December 16, 2017 I go thru the horrendous process of chatting with ehosts and getting things cancelled FOR REAL this time because that's when I learned I've been being charged all this time. They refuse to refund any charges

Flash forward - here we are and June 11th is approaching and I get yet another email from ehosts about the domain name I never used. I spend well over an hour on chat trying to convince these folks to (a) quit emailing me about an account I cancelled the day after I opened it (b) reconsider refunding me the money I was charged (c) they refuse to acknowledge that their terms of service do not state that when a consumer requests cancellation that they should know to expect an email from a non-ehosts.com ID that you need to WHITELIST in order to see that they aren't honoring your written request to cancel within the 30 day time period and that every other interaction with them will in fact be generated from the ehosts.com domain

Pretty slick. Oh and now they're going by the name ipage.com

Ehosts.com is a JOKE! They don't protect your information!!! I had been given the run around for hours, upon hours between waiting 80min on hold waiting for someone to just pick up, 60 min waiting to chat with a tech online, then spending another 70-80 minutes "chatting" with NO resolved issues, to then get a generic "Sorry you're out of luck email" to ANOTHER 20 minutes to still not have access to a Manager, or the problem solved. i am a STRONG believer of customer service. I'm also an ADVOCATE for receiving exactly what I pay for. My problem with them? I paid for Domain Privacy. I work in entertainment.

Privacy is THE NUMBER ONE concern I have! I would fully EXPECT that when I ordered domain privacy in 2015 at the EXACT moment I ordered my domain and hosting, it would be set up. I would ALSO expect that with annual AUTO-RENEW for domain privacy (my HOSTING was paid for 3 YEARS mind you) that my information would STILL remain PRIVATE. But here I am- in 2017.. And my information was ALL OVER WHOIS. How does that happen? Ordered, paid, prepaid, auto renew (with a current credit card, so it didnt "decline") How do I NOT get the service I have been paying for?

And THEN how is it possible, that it was CONFIRMED a "mistake" and was fixed "immediately" but you won't issue me a CREDIT for the services you didn't provide? I didnt ask for a refund.. I asked to EXTEND my TWENTY DOLLAR service for the mistake EHOSTS ADMITTED TO. And was told "sorry, we don't issue credits" and sent the terms of service in an email.

Im sorry, but where does it say you can pay for a service, they fail to provide the service, and can get away with that? They offer refunds, credits, etc depending on the issue. Yet they want to treat me like I was asking for a million dollars.

WORST customer service EVER. I've spent HOURS getting the run around, apparently there are ZERO managers, supervisors, leads, or ANYONE with authority that works there.

SO BUYER BEWARE... DOMAIN PRIVACY IS NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM!! BE PREPARED TO HAVE ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OUT ON THE WEB REGARDLESS OF PAYING THEM TO ENSURE THAT DOESNT HAPPEN!!

When I retained eHost.com they told me that I was going to get billed for only $2.75 USD per Month.

When they started the service they charged my Card for a charge of $30.00 USD approximately.

Later on they also billed me for $5.59 for the monthly hosting and not $2.75 USD as I suggested.

This is not fair because they didn't tell me that they would charge the $30,00 for Sitelock.

They are pretty bad people.

And then they continued with the scam after they billed us $5.59 for the monthly payment and not $2.75 USD

But that is not all!

They also want to receive around $14 USD per month which is quite unfair because that is not what they agreed when we started with the agreement.

It's a huge scam from hell... they later told that they would reimburse me and they didn't do so.

That is unfair.

It's a very bad thing to allow people like this continue with scams

After promises and more promises they never reimbursed me and they shut down my site.
