Please people, do not ever rent from Economy Car Rental. We must band together to drive them out of business. I rented a car for 30 days at a high enough price to make a profit to the company (not discounted) of over $750 for the month.
I had the printed (on paper) insurance coverage letter from my credit card company that is supposed to be acceptable. They stated at the counter that they don't honor it and REQUIRE their mandatory coverage at $35/day ($1,000 extra for the month). I told him I wouldn't pay it and he replied "then we don't rent you the car", which they know leaves you stranded so you will take it anyway.
I argued enough to get the lower cost insurance that he initially denied having, at a cost of $20/day extra, doubling the cost of my car and then charged sales tax of 13% on top of the insurance cost. If you take the car and intend to turn it in early so that you can find a better company, you get no refund, either.
They don't even provide proof that you actually have purchased insurance nor that they will really forward the "sales tax" to the country. Do not get tempted to use this company.
