East Coast Mechanical Reviews

I have been a customer of ECM for 10+ years and with multiple properties. Year over year, the service has decreased and the protection for the customer has decreased. They have made it so that there is rarely a replacement for any product that I have paid additional in my contract to have replacement coverage. Examples; my wall ovens and microwave as well as my hot water heater-I paid for replacement value for years, but they cannot be replaced and parts are not available. Rahter than say there is no replacement available up front; they took my money and then waited until they broke and said sorry-no replacement available and offered nothing. They offered me a credit to replace a hot water heater of $250 when the cost to replace it is actually 3 times that amount. They are always trying to sell me a new product when their business is actually servicing those I have. If they do not offer a good service; why would I purchase products from them? I find them to be highly unethical. I had re-signed with them originally and then decided that I had enough and they refused to refund my money pro-rated which again was a change in policy from years past. I will never do business with them again. Beware-buy from licensed professionals who are in the business of selling products and mainteining what they sell. This company does not offer a high quality service and does not have their customer's best interests in mind.

Bought a home and renewed an annual contract the fornmer owners had, about $800/year.

Discovered first problem quickly and was told it wasn't covered as it was a pre-existing condition.

Next I had problems with thermostats, but those kind weren't covered, paid $400.

Called on another problem and they said best they could get there was 5 days, so got someone else there in an hour.

Had water heater problem, and was told repair it wouyld take a week to get the part and it would be $550, as it wasn;'t covered. Immediately called a plumber my neighbor uses, who got there within an hour and got it fixed on the spot for $275, exactly half of what ECM was going to charge.

I called and the wrote to cancel the contract. Was told on the phone I'd get a p[rorated amount back, and the acknowledged that I only had the contract for 36 days. I rceived only $170 back, as they then subtracted additional moneys for their service calls,

Also, they only answer the phone during limited hours, so don't have a problem during the evening, on Sundays, or while they shut down for lunch.

They don't keep their word - first they offered to pay the $200 as per the contract, towards the purchase of a new washing machine. A few weeks later, when I called and requested the payment of such amount, they said the offer was not valid anymore. They will also make all sorts of excuses and say the repair requested is not covered. Finally, when you call to request a service call, you'll have to wait for 15-20 minutes on the line before someone answers. Don't wast your money.

Hire East Coast Mechanical from Boynton Beach and you've hired a shameful thief. This company was called to repair a residential A/C unit which had stopped cooling. Peter T., a service tech (and clearly commissioned), quickly diagnosed my system with a "dead compressor" costing $2,500 to replace. He insisted that repairing by replacing only a portion of my system was foolish and strongly recommended replacing my entire system consisting of both compressor and air handler.

This would cost $5,000-5,600. Everything this man spoke sounded shady. I dismissed him and subsequently called Southern Comfort A/C that reviewed my system only to discover a capacitor needed replacement. Total complete repair, slightly over $200. I am also reporting this company to a handful of websites that may prevent unsuspecting customers from falling pray to this vicious and dishonest company. Don't become a victim.

ECM should probably stand for "We don't care". We have been having issues nonstop for years with our unit which was paid in full and installed by ECM 4 years ago. Their customer service is amongst the worst in the industry. They have yelled at me on the phone and called me a liar! The technician (one of many that have come) told us that he can't believe that ECM would even have installed the unit we have in the condition it is in since it cannot work correctly. But, why would they care about that when they're getting paid. That's all they care about! 0 customer satisfaction... I was forced to purchase a contract with them to come service our unit, which they have many times and is still in contract to do so. But, now they REFUSE to come out to do the quick fix (which I paid them to do and will fight to get my money back because they will not comply with their service agreement) and insult me saying they have told us about the problem (which they created in the first place)!!! This company is one of the worst and deserves to be put out of business immediately.

To be fair: 3 service calls this year: 1. Dishwasher repair: No real problem. (some delays in coming out) 2. Toilet repair: ballcock replaced. Easy repair, Done quickly 3. Clothes washer repair. Service person said parts needed to be ordered. After a week ECM called and said that they would have to bring the machine to their shop and that the parts would cost $169.00 + labor, taxes etc. I complained both in writing and over the phone asking for a new unit. They offered us $200, for a unit that we cost $1,400 (it is stacked so the washing machine could not be replaced separately). They said that I should read the "fine print" which is so small you would need a high powered magnifying glass to read it.
