DTLA Derm Reviews

I must say I will not be a return customer. When I called for an appointment I asked if they took my health insurance and was told by the office manager that they did. Of course, when I arrived, the receptionist told me that they didn't--and she said so very combatively. She was not helpful or understanding at all, even though I was still willing to pay out of pocket for the service. I spent no more than 3-5 minutes (for $150!) in a room with Dr. herself, who prescribed me two creams and told me if they didn't work to call him and he would write me a prescription for the pill version of one of the creams. Well, of course they did not work, so when I called him after a month of taking these creams and suffering, it took his office a week to get back to me. Some receptionist told me to take an "over the counter Cortisone Cream". Well that made my problem get much, much worse! So I called again, and once again it took days for them to get back to me, just to say that I would have to schedule another visit before he would prescribe me the stronger medicine! I told them at $150 for 5 minutes at a doctor's office that lied about taking my insurance...no thank you. If he didn't get it right with the first three medications, then either he is not a very good doctor or he is just trying to squeeze all the money he can out of me. Maybe he can afford to throw around money like that, but most people live in the real world and can't afford spending hundreds of dollars on non-life-threatening medical treatments.

Sad, just sad

Life is good!

Obviously fake review

it is sad that people would waste so much of their time writing fake reviews. This person was too lazy to even change the gender from male to female from the review he/she copied.

Beware. First, let me be upfront and say I didn't have any treatment. The office looked bright and clean. They may do a decent job. But I wanted to log this review for certain types of people who may be doing research.

I booked a consultation online and it was smooth as silk. I was in their office the next day. I was looked over for a few minutes and given some options. It sounded expensive, and I was considering it, until I found out I was charged just for walking in the door.

I wasn't sure what would be involved or if they even did the work I was looking for. There was no mention of any "office visit charge" on the website or through the booking system (which is through a 3rd party). I was annoyed that they wanted $50 for an inital consulation where I basically got handed a couple brochures.

I was later called by a Office Manager named Josh Osborne who tried to sell me the idea that their initial consultation is usually $174, but I was getting a special price at $50. They ended up charging me a co-pay and billing my insurance. Who knows how much they will bill, but I'm guessing it will be way higher than $174. I got the call immediately, which was nice, but I was basically told that only if I had called on the phone would I have been told there would be a charge. Between the "we're giving you a special price already" and the fact that they are fine that anyone coming from an online channel would be mislead, I was even more skeptical.

So here's my impression. It sounded like the doctor worked almost like agents. I didn't get the sense that I could see anyone there but rather that I my consultation request linked me to a doctor (or maybe not really a doctor) and I was at the mercy of how much that person get out of me. Their whole nickle-and-diming and high priced services made me feel like they were a little like scam artists trying to get the most money out of their "customers" that they can. That's just the feeling I got after a single visit -- and I got a cursory sense of things at best, so my review is only a surface review.

I didn't trust these guys and told them so. They stuck to their guns and charged me their fee. I understand that a doctor visit -- even an inital one -- generally carries a fee for service. I don't believe an initial conversation that amounts to little more than getting a couple brochures should count. If I called an attorney to see if they could take my case and ask their billing rate, I would not expect to be billed. If I see an online system that offers a "Dermatology Consultation" with no mention of a billing charge for an initial consultation, I would not expect to be charged.

For people who don't care about price and want the experience of a nice office in a nice part of town, and value the experience (no matter how superficial), I would overlook my comments. For people who like to research professionals and look for professionals that exude integrity, I would pay attention to some of my comments.

The staff are unprofessional and gossipy. While waiting for my appointment I overheard them talk smack about some of the patients. WATCH IT!

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

I feel really bad for leaving a negative review but I want to make sure I advise people so they can save their money and false hope. So I went here a few years back when I was 18 trying to help with my acne and scarring. I went in with my mom and spoke to the fancy guy with the suite and they just feed of every insecurity you have dealing with acne. They had me take off my makeup and hold and mirror and asked what would you change about yourself.

They are smart they make you look at yourself and remind you how much you want to change and they make sure you remember how much you hate looking in the mirror. Anyone with acne know looking and having no makeup is torture and just reminds you . So I cried and my poor mom( single mom) cried to and asked how can you help her it hurts me to see her always so insecure and hurting over this.

So they offer packages and blah blah with treatments that would help. My acne wasn't horrible and my scarring either but it feels like it is to me u know. So they said 8 to 12 treatments should do it and we can offer this . Prices were wow and my mom is a single mom so we only got 4 treatments. Sooo I got the four and all his rx face washing pads and creams . Lets me just say noo difference I mean I didn't except perfection but I thought I would see a lil change and nope nothing.

I had abilling problem with these peple and had to deal with the office manager. Some miserable queen named Josh Osborne. Totally unhelpful and would not work with me to solve the problem. He would just yell at me over the phone. OMG!

My advise please before going here research your options and know they feed off the insecurities you have so don't let him. I found a great doctor and office. dermatology in Fullerton . Amazing doctor and staff;).
