Disqus, Inc Reviews

Disqus gave a pro per self represented litigant my IP and Email address freely without following proper California legal procedures. I would advise strongly against ever using Disqus because they freely had out your personal information to anyone who files a lawsuit even a frivolous lawsuit. Disqus is used by hundreds of websites as a platform for people to comment on various articles or subjects. They are based in California and bound by California law. In the last month a self represented litigant filed a lawsuit against 25 John Does. The self represented Plaintiff sent a subpoena to Disqus seeking identifying information for people that had posted comments through discus on other websites. After obtaining a California subpoena, under California law, discus is supposed to notify the user about the subpoena and wait 15 days from the date of service before providing identifying information to anyone. This is to allow the user/consumer a period to file a motion to quash the subpoena a in-state so choose. I am in possession of proof that Disqus ignored California's legal procedural rules and simply provided the information to the individual literally within 3 to 4 days of the individual sending the subpoena to Disqus. In a nutshell if you use discus to comment on anything, they do not go to any lengths to defend or protect your privacy. Some on other Complaints on this and other sites claim that discus actually sells personal information. I cannot verify if discus sold this information to the plaintiff or just gave it to him either way they violated California rules of civil procedure and basically there is nothing that can be done about it without spending a huge amount of money in legal fees. To the person who posted about Disqus in August, if you do sue them I have proof of everything stated here and maybe this can help you. Adding insult to injury, Disqus failed to email me notification of the subpoena and failed to give me ample time to file a motion to quash Sheilah is provided by California law. However they were able to email me a link to their site trying to bait me to go back onto the site (pretending they had not already given the plaintiff my email address and IP address.) Avoid commenting through Disqus at all costs.

Disqus.com is a Ripoff internet company that creates false names and makes up false comments on there blogs to try to sell advertising. They have been using my company brand name to to post comments on there website for months, I'm currently filing a lawsuit again them for using my brand name and creating stories and comments that I did not give them permission to do so. Beware of this internet company !
