Direct Buy Warranty Reviews

  • Jun 18, 2019

I did a TON of research before I bit the bullet and paid their VERY high membership fee.

After spending close to $20,000, I ended up receiving several e-mails from different people letting me know that this item or that item was no longer available and to make a different selection. I did, and 2 weeks later found out that item wasn’t available either. For other items, I was given a replacement option that was not even close to the same item. Several items that actually were available, were not in stock, so their estimated delivery was 3-4 months out.

I had an auto warranty with Direct Buy for many years on a previous auto, 2011 Mercedes. I never had a claim or reason to contact them. I then traded it in and got a 2012 Jaguar and contacted Direct Buy Warrant to change the warranty to the new vehicle. They proceeded to make the change and sent me the new warranty contract, but it had an error. That was in December of 2015. They had the wrong effective date on the contract along with the wrong expiration date since I had informed them that the factory warranty was still good until 10/18/16, or 50,000 miles, whichever came first. I have now sent them over 10 emails with NO response, called them over 10 times and left a message and they have not called me back. I now sent them a letter to 33 Wood Ave. South in Iselin and it was today returned to me "not deliverable as addressed". I have been very patient and would love to be closer to their office(if they have one) so that I could confront them face to face, and take the matter into my own hands using my fists if necessary. My new contract number is VSC#xx1424. Thanks.

The company stated they would pay my claim. I had this warranty for 4 years or 100,000 miles I never used it one in the first 4 years I re-instated for another 4 years and I had a problem I was told it was covered, the repairs were made and the shop tried to get paid for over a year. The repair shop called me in discussed, I have been trying to reach any via phone and email. Nothing works no at all. This is such BS these people need to hunted down and held accountable. The BBB doesnt have them as a member so I'm thinking my attorney is the next step and I know that will turn up to cost me money that I'll never get back. So much for hard working Americans trying to safe their wallets on costly repair bills.

Bought warranty on March 4, 2015. Ac compressor broke June 2015. After about 2 weeks of trying to get the company to pay for the repair I had to pay for the repair myself. Cancelled the warranty in July 2015. I was told I would get my refund in 7-10 business days. It is now December 23, 2015 and I still have not gotten my refund. Now when I call they pick up and hang up without answering the call. I reported to the BBB and they could not get a response from DBW. They referred me to the State Attorney General's office in Louisiana. Sent that complaint today. Direct Buy Auto Warranty headquarters has an address at 20 S 3rd St in Columbus, OH with the same number 888 865-4484. This company stole $1795 from me saying I was due a refund of $1187.08 which to this day I have not received.

If there is a class action suit I would like to be a part of it.

I purchased a warranty for my 2006 Mercedes S-430 in April 2015, paid $2,300.00 for warranty.in September 2015 I traded the Benz in and purchased a 2008 Caddy Escalade, I was told by warranty Co. that i could tranfer old warranty to new car, after about 6 weeks going back and forth I was told that the caddy could not be covered. This was in mid November, I then filed paper work for my contract to be terminated and for my pro-rated refund sent to me.Well as of today's date 12-17-2015 I have called them at least 3 times a week asking for and update of my refund, I was told that checks are cut on the 15th and 30th of each month.I call on December 14,16th, and 17th no one could tell me about my refund, all of my calls was cut off and when i called back went right to voice mail.Im due a refund of $1660.00

On July 22nd, 2015, I talked to a sales rep, Mark Morgan, from Direct Buy Auto Extended Warranty company, and I was told that their company can provide a full coverage for my 2007 Mercedes GL450 and 2010 Mercedes C300. I was also told that if I bought both warranty coverage packages and paid in full, which was $4600 ($2300 for each five-year a hundred thousand miles warranty package) that day, I would get a huge discount. I believed him and paid $4600 on that day for those two warranty coverage packages. The warranty coverage started on August 22nd, 2015. On September 16th, 2015, my 2007 GL450 had an electronic issue which was covered under this warranty. The Mercedes-Benz of Hagerstown service manager, Marty Gillions, called Direct Buy Warranty and got an authorized repair from a supervisor named George Thompson on that day. Mr. Gillions was told that he and I needed to sign the form and fax it back to the Direct Buy Warranty company, and one of the warranty authorization department employees would call Mercedes-Benz of Hagerstown and make a credit card payment of $187.62 within 24 hours. Mr. Gillions and I followed the instructions and faxed back this form on September 17th, 2015. After 24 hours later, I called Mercedes-Benz service department and inquired if the payment had been made by the warranty company and if the part was ordered. I was informed that they didn't get the payment and the service advisor attempted to call the warranty company several times and could not get through and could not leave a voicemail and did not get any response from the company on September 18th, 2015. I also called the company number at 1-888-865-4484, but I also could not get through with this number. I then tried to call the sales rep. Mark Morgan, who I got the warranty packages from, on his direct line at 732-243-5947. It was the same result. I could not get through and could not leave a voice mail. Finally after 5pm on that day, I called company number at 1-888-865-4484, I was able to reach the after hour answering service. I have left several messages regarding the unpaid claim at night on September 18th , 19th, and 20th. I have also emailed Mark Morgan at [email protected] on September 18th, 2015 at 9:53pm, 10:25pm, 10:31pm, and September 21st, 2015 at 9:21am and 9:42am regarding my concern, my frustration, and my unpaid claim. I have also emailed Direct Buy company customer service email at [email protected] on September 18th at 10:25pm regarding my concern and unpaid claim. I have used every possible contact way for this company, but I got no response from anyone so far. On September 21st, 2015, after all of the attempts to contact this company in every possible way, and I got no response whatsoever, I have decided to cancel these two warranty coverage packages. I have emailed Mark Morgan and customer service department again on September 21st, 2015 at 10:44pm, stating that I want to cancel these two warranty coverage packages that I had purchased and explained why. However, I never got a response. Again, on September 22nd, 2015 at 2:40pm, I emailed Mark Morgan and customer service indicated that I wish to cancel these two warranty packages that I have purchased on July 22nd, 2015 and the coverage started on August 22nd, 2015, and listed several reasons why I decided to cancel. As of today, September 24th, 2015, I have not received any response from anyone from this company, and I still could not get through on their company line or Mark Morgan's direct line. I'm left with no choice but to file a charge back on both $2300 charges. Today, Sept. 25th, I finally got through to George Thompson after over an hour waiting and run around. I told him what happened and what I did. Instead of apologizing what this company has done to me, he has totally changed his attitude. Not to mention they promised Mercedes to pay the claim, and left them with no pay and no answer whatsoever, he has the nerve saying that Mercedes-Benz of Hagerstown is not following the proper procedure, and that is the reason why they didn't pay. He also said that I'm not entitled to the full refund, because It was outside the 30 day period. It started on August 22nd, and I sent them another email informing the cancellation on Sept 22nd. I have Mercedes service statement in writing and I have my many emails with time stamped. They are the one breach the contract when they were supposed to pay on Sept 17th. BTW the claim was only $177 comparing the $4600 I paid. I have filed a complaint with several government agencies, and George Thompson said they would dispute my chargeback and they would tell the government that I demanded payment before the repair. It was completely a lie, and I'm shocked. I have never demanded payment to me, and I wanted them to pay Mercedes as they promised within 24 hours. However, I have statements from Mercedes, and my time stamped emails. I don't see there is any difficulty to prove they are the one breach the contract, and that is why I'm canceling. I hope people are reading this, because you WILL regret like I am now after purchasing from them. I have not seen anything like this before, I have never written a review here. I feel it is my civil responsibility to tell the future potential victims.

Direct Buy Auto Warranty denied the repair of our car. I called and they indicated that repair was not covered because it is a wear and tear issue, which is not. They said they have an engineering department that review cases and I asked to get me in touch with that department for us to understand their reasoning; they did not provide me with the contact information. All members of our family are engineers and we know what wear and tear is and what is not. Their argument is definitely not valid. I have called several times for them to send me information in writing on their reasons for repair denial; they promised to send it many weeks ago; I have not received anything.

They offered to cancel my policy which is the best solution for them, not for us that paid the policy and have been paying month after month the premium and received nothing in return. I have called numerous times and I have asked for a supervisor; the answer is all the time that there isn't one and that there is no one else I can talk to. I have insisted and asked for the phone number and a supervisor from the corporate offices; about two months ago, I was told again that they couldn't provide me with the number but he will pass my message and I was supposed to get a call back from someone from corporate offices; no one called me. This company is the WORST AUTO WARRANTY COMPANY EVER! NOT EVEN BETTER BUSSINESS BUREU accredited (BBB)!! I filed a complaint with BBB and they not even bother to respond to BBB. This company do no honor their contractual obligations. I have strongly requested that they fulfill their contractual obligations without any results.
