Destination Homes Reviews

  • Oct 20, 2020

First I would like to say that The building of our Lake Village Condo in Daybreak, Utah left much to be desired It was especially difficult to get workman defects corrected during the one-year warranty period. Nothing but delays and fingerpointing by Destination Homes and their Subs. It was difficult to get a hold of anyone including their warranty department such as it was. We had major problems that still were not resolved to our satisfaction. Michael Chipping who was hired by Destination half-way through the warranty period helped us the most. It was our understanding he was fired because he was trying to remedy warranty work in a timely manner. I think he was going to cost Destination Homes money to correct the problems. It wasn’t for the lack of paying a huge premium for our Lake Village condominium Home. They were not cheap.

The Lake Village Condominiums Association are a group of thirty homes that was originally supposed to have built 70 to 71 units We were turned over to the homeowners in November of 2019. We were not zeroed out or left any developmental money from Destination or Developers. They kept the amenity fee low until all units were sold and left us very little in reserve. Then the amenity fee was raised just before they turned us over, approximately $155.00/month /unit in one year. Making the fee from Approxamitly $160/month/unit, To $315.00/month/unit. Most owner’s including myself had no idea the builder decided arbitrarily stop building all the units which leaves us unfunded. We are half the size of what was to be built, and the smallest sub-association in Daybreak.

The Homeowner’s feel that Destination could contact the HOA and help a community that they built to succeed if THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR REPUTATION. We have purchased 2 Condominiums in Utah where the builders have at least zeroed out expenses and provided developmental money so that the HOA can begin to function well on their own. I would also state that many owners feel betrayed and would not recommend purchasing a home or condo from Destination. Word of mouth advertising, if owners are pleased with a builder, is far more effective than any other form of advertising even in a hot market. If people are ignored they will never sing your praises. All any owner wants is a well-built home and a fair start. Please feel free to contact Treo Management at 801-355-1136 if you would like to help our community. You should be proud to say you built us. I wonder what “Get Gebhardt” would think of this story, even though Brad Wilson is Speaker of the House, and writing the real-estate laws that affect all citizens of the State of Utah.

Sincerely,

The Lake Village Condominiums H.O.A.
