Denver County Jail Reviews

  • Jul 15, 2020

This took place on September 4, 2019 at Porter Adventist Hospital.

I had been using one of their bathrooms as a base to pee and just clean myself up regularly so I could still continue to work and deal with all of the stuff I was dealing with. I was handling a student loan bankruptcy as well as still being on Felony probation and remaining in full compliance and living in my car and trying to get out of Colorado and just keep everything together. Porter was a safe haven for me to go to if s**t just got to be to much. I had even been a patient of theirs in the past for suicide attempts’ and hadn’t actually had an attempt since being there. It was just a place I felt safe.

The park that was less than a mile down the street from it even ended up being a regular parking spot of mine that I could run to and not be harassed by police or broken into and could actually just sleep without being bothered. Never mind the fact that being in Denver homeless puts you in constant fear at the the possibility that any minute could end up being a moment you might have to run from something or someone. I was nearly broken into twice and chased through DTC at 2 o’clock in the morning in one of them trying to get away from idiots that were trying to break into my car. They ended up chasing me through DTC in an attempt to silence me so I wouldn’t report them.

And simply because I would use their f*cking bathroom in the farthest f*cking back corner and honestly made a mess with washing my hands and would end up destroying the bathroom in the process (I literally had to have the water gushing off the table before I'm satisfied that I'm clean and I don’t use low flow either-I was fine before I became homeless and didn’t honestly do that but jail and everything else just kicked it in over drive and was the only way I could ever actually feel in control even despite everything that I was dealing with). They seriously threw me off the property when there was never anyone in there and I made sure that no one was so I wouldn’t be bothered. I came back after that cause I wasn’t going to settle for f*cking 7/11.

They seriously f*cking had me arrested and charged for trespassing and property damage for using their bathroom. After they threw me out, I dented their drywall with my foot in response as to what I think of all of them. Property damage is technically a legal form of protest. But even that, they seriously f*cking surrounded me with nearly every f*cking security guard they had and didn’t just arrest me-laughed at me like it was 1984 and f*cking Animal Farm.

And even had to go so far as to say “yeah, she looks like shes got something.” “She looks unstable.” And actually f*cking laughed because I was yelling at them to leave my f*cking car alone (begging actually). They seriously even had me crying and actually apologizing for simply being homeless and using a f*cking bathroom and pretty much begging for them not to do anything. They seriously even towed my car that wasn’t even on their property all because they claimed it was “abandoned,” after less than an hour of getting arrested.

And the worthless f*cking dumba*s f*cking piece of f*cking sh*t a*s f*ck swine had to seriously and proudly state in his f*cking report how “sorry I was for being homeless.” I seriously had to go and find my car and had to ask for a loan from VFW (vet organization) to get my car out and then had to ask somebody else just to cover for the loan. My f*cking car even broke down not to long after being towed by a worthless idiot who even put it on the wrong f*cking truck. And it seriously f**king broke me so much to the point I didn’t even touch my f*cking hair until it became impossible to sleep on and had to to sheered off down to the root it was so matted. Probation and MH only jumped at the f*cking chance to basically try and hone in on it further.

Denver County is the court prosecuting the case from the Porter story listed above. And all of the other thousands of homeless cases across the city for basically nothing but bullshit. Denver makes more than $100,000 off of every person they prosecute from arrest to sentencing. And more than 50% of arrest warrants in Denver County alone are estimated to be linked to people listed as homeless or transient regardless of the offense.

And homelessness in Colorado is criminalized all over the goddamn f*cking state that its even a $1,000 fine just panhandling in Castle Rock in Douglas County. Its literally nothing but a goddamn f*cking money scheme. Seriously. Criminalization doesn’t just affect homeless people-it also effects people going into homelessness and also people fleeing DV too. I know if it wasn’t; I wouldn’t have been under nearly half as much pressure as I had been that lead to me getting arrested in the story listed at the top. I also know that I wouldn’t have been in nearly half as much danger as I was and still am; If parking and sleeping in certain places wasn’t illegal. Theres always going to be f*cking predators and everything else underneath the sun. The least that could be done is easing the f*cking pressure so worse s**t doesn’t honestly start to happen.
