DB Home & Commercial Inspections Reviews

I am writing this review based on my own personal recent experience with DB Home Inspections. The house was inspected five weeks before we closed. We then waited another month to move in. We received a rave review from this company. The inspector even called me during the inspection to tell me that he couldnt find anything wrong with the house. That he was trying, but couldn't. I was thrilled about this and I told him I didn't want him to find anyhting that wasnt there. He made me believe that the house was almost perfect minus a few minor issues. Moved in last week. Found a multitude of items that were missed. leaking spigot out back that was caked in calcification and completely green all over fron long term leakage. Kitchen faucet wobbling around and wont stay on. The washing machine wouldnt fill even thought their inspector assured me he ran it a full cycle. There are six soft,, terrible looking patches in the stucco out back around the kitchen sink.

The paint on most of the wood trim is peeling down to bare wood. The metal part of the side gates is rotting out. The entire bottoms of both gates are well beyond surface rot and heading into structural issues. No screen door at all on slider and one side of the slider molding is destroyed ( looka like by a hyper dog since the glass is all scratched as well. The main concern was that thee were five out of six outlets not functioning in the master as well as a burnt out ceiling fan. I had to call an electrician to come out and fix the issues which cost me 337.

The electrician told me that there was one outlet wired completely wrong and that there was also a full 120 volts coming out of the NEUTRAL wire for the ceiling fan. He also told me that the breaker needed to be replaced from long term tripping caused by these issues. Within nine days of all of these discoveries, I contacted the owner, David Brower, via email voicing my concerns about these issues. I sent multiple pictures of the areas discussed and a copy of the electricians receipt. I wasn't rude or accusatory. I was simply bringing some facts to his attention, NEVER ONCE asking him for anything other than to do the right thing. Obviously that would be a refund. It would have helped to offset the cost of the electrician and paying to have old washer hauled away. His response was much worse than his inspection report. He proceeded to be very condescending while dobting every singlr item Imentioned. Even all of the pictures. Just dismissed them, fully accused me of lying without ever actually usin the word and told me how wrong I was. That I shouldve basically had a contractor from each trade come throught and do an inspection. Exactlly what i paid him for. He told me that " metal doesn't rot" and he said I needed an HVAC guy to install my air filters. He told me I needed a painter to confirm the paint was peeling. Im a master painter with over 4 decades of experince, it needs paint and metal absolutely does rot out. Ive literraly repaired and painted miles of wrought iron.

He accepted zero responsibility for his inspection and continued to belittle and degrade me until the end of his rant. I went back over what I sent, just to be sure I didn't write something more harsh than I thought and I did not. I was remarkably neutral and factual considering the situation.. No personal animosity was displayed at all. The right thing for him to do would have been to come to my house and see for himself, then make a decision. Once he saw all that his employee missed, I cannot believe that he wouldn't have offered a full refund. He could have approached this situation 1000 different and more productive ways. He instead chose to sit in front of his computer from across town and just deny and degrade. This was my first home purchase ever. ( I know, it took awhile) and I was so overwhelmed by the entire process that I just trusted the report. I just took that off of my plate and focused on the other 500 things that come with buying a house. I paid for that peace of mind. His company motto is literally " Your connection to peace of mind" It says it on the report! My mistake. I accept that. I chose to trust that the guy my realtor recommended was a stand up guy and would provide me with the services I paid for. I never gave it another thought until 9 weeks later when I finally moved in and started noticing everything.

This guy could have made things right by being professional and coming to a mutual, acceptable agreement. AT LEAST looking with his own eyes before talking down and accusing . He chose differently. He chose to go full defensive mode, right out of the gate and never pumped the brakes. I cannot express enough what a terrible, terrible experience this was. I would never, ever think of using this company again. As far as the photos. The response to the door pic was " vinyl looks acceptable. Response to gate pic was " metal doesnt rot. brush with wire brush and paint with Rustoleum" ( couldnt be worse or more incorrect advice. Again, I have over 40 years experience panting) and for the nasty spigot I was told " thats what happens when the plumber sweats the pipe" again, couldnt have been more wrong.

On social media, we are receiving 1-star reviews from people, in which their names are not listed in our database, we've never conducted an inspection for all these false claimers. I believe they are all friends and relatives of todd paluck from queen creek, az.

Update

I filed a complaint with the Arizona Board of Technical Registration, the governing body of home inspectors in this state, and they found 11 Level 3 violations in regards to my inspection. The case number on file at the AZBTR is H119-007. A consent agreement ( their version of a plea bargain) was signed in regards to this matter and I was issued a full refund as part of their deal. During the investigation, the owner, David Brower, was found to be making false statements. Something he has made of habit of doing throughout this entire, silly ordeal. Multiple times. In writing. The AZBTR themselves initiated a complaint against him for making false statements. David Brower signed a consent agreement, the Boards equivalent of a plea bargain, regarding making false statements. The case number on file at the AZBTR for that one is H119-026. Throughout this entire process I have told nothing but the truth and others seemed to agree. Throughout this process David Brower has made up false statement after false statement and others seemed to agree. All this guy had to do was the right thing and this would have never happened. He chose differently. His accusations are ridiculous and false. Like a lot of other things that came out during this investigation. He just cannot seem to let it go. It's unhealthy behavior. I truly regret ever using this company. A year later and it's still going on. This guy has had to pay almost two thousand dollars in fees, penalties and refunds yet he still keeps talking and more importantly writing...
