I bought my Suburban off of the showroom floor of a well-known dealership (yes, it was in that pristine of condition) a year and a half ago. I even put full-coverage insurance on it because it was so immaculate.

I hired David to take care of some very minor surface rust/paint starting to bubble and to preserve those areas for years to come. He seemed very well versed and showed us sample photos of what was to be done. Little did I know the nightmare to follow…

The focus of the work performed is to the bottom half of the Suburban from front quarter panels to the back, including entire tailgate. The intention was to remove minor surface rust to preserve, coat it with a durable finish, and continue to preserve its phenomenal condition. Nothing on the top half or interior was to be touched.

He agreed to pull all the lower plastic molding, sand, grind, or bead blast from the body seam down to remove rust. Then coat the areas from the body seam down with Rhino Liner bedliner product and paint over the bedliner with automotive paint to match the original. The door bottoms were to receive the same treatment. He was also to sand down the entire tailgate, prep and recoat with matching automotive paint. White paint was to be covered with clear coat to bring out shine and come as close as possible to the original paint.

· All lower plastics were to be removed, surfaces were to be bead blasted, sanded or ground to metal. He even charged us an additional $300 because he said more rust work was needed than he anticipated. In reality, plastics were not removed, only masked off and painted around. This is evidenced by the masking lines, over spray and lack of anything being done under the plastics.

· The door bottoms on the interior were to be bead blasted, sanded or ground to remove surface rust. In reality, zero rust was removed and it was simply sprayed over.

· Everything from the body line down was to be coated with Rhino Liner or equivalent bed liner coating. I was shown photos of what the finish would be like and bed liner was mentioned in every conversation with him. He even gave specifics about how he does bed liner better than most people. In reality, he sprayed the lower half and door bottoms with spray can Stone Guard or Chip Guard product. Not even remotely close to Rhino Liner or any bed liner for that matter.

· The entire tailgate was to be sanded and filled if necessary and recoated with automotive paint from a professional paint gun. In reality, it was not sanded or filled, or at least was done poorly. Masking lines we left, several pits and groves were left and the tailgate was painted with some sort of spray can paint.

· All areas that were to be prepped and coated with bed liner were to be coated with matching white automotive paint and have a clear coat applied over the top. In reality, spray can Stone Guard was used and the white paint appears to be spray can paint as well. No clear coat is applied over the white paint. We discussed paint in detail and even agreed to pay as much as $280 more if he had to obtain matching factory paint. He said he got the paint matched and purchased the paint at Princeton Chevrolet Auto Center. Princeton Auto does not match and sell paint to the public. They only sell touch up spray cans and pens through the parts department. I have the conversation with Princeton Chevrolet Auto Center recorded as well.

Beyond the outright fabrications about what was done there are numerous quality and workmanship issues that are simply not acceptable:

· Very little if any rust was touched. Areas have already bled through the chip guard and paint.

· Chip guard was applied unevenly leaving an inconsistent texture and some spots received no chip guard at all like much of the door bottoms, the rear of the front fenders, and anywhere under plastic molding. Chip guard is on surfaces is shouldn’t be like body above the crease and fender flares.

· Paint over the chip guard is thin and inconsistent. It is consistent with paint applied with a spray can. Not all of the chip guard is covered and you can see it through the paint in many areas. Rust spots have already bled through the paint only a few weeks later. There are paint runs in virtually every square foot of surface painted. Again it looks like a child painted it with spray paint.

· Paint overspray is everywhere. On the plastic moldings that were supposedly removed, on weather stripping, windows, taillights, trim, nerf bars, interior panels and even the roof rack. The overspray especially highlights all the items that were to be removed but were not.

· The tailgate is the worst area of them all. Corrosion was not sanded and/or filled. Masking lines are all over the tailgate. There are several runs in the paint as well as areas that appear to be been bumped into while the paint was drying. Thin, inconsistent color and thickness are obvious from several feet away. The Z71 logo is missing yet the Chevrolet emblem is present with masking lines around it and it’s covered with overspray. The glass release button was not removed or masked off, it is simply painted over.

· To summarize the paint job, it is sufficiently worse that what an amateur would do with a spray can or even a household roller for that matter. He said that it only needed to be wet sanded and buffed. I took it to several body shops and they all said that is not true as there is no clear coat to sand and buff and all the sanding and buffing in the world would not remove the runs or make the paint look even.

I have taken my Suburban to five (5) body shops. All shops have given me estimates that exceed the value of my truck. The estimates were to fix only what David destroyed, not any extra parts or anything…paint and labor and my truck would be in the shop approximately 14 days. Not to mention, out of those five shops, only one was actually willing to even touch it. The others gave estimates but told me they would not put their guys on this. I paid him cash, in full after he gave me a story about he had to go out of town the next day. I dropped the Suburban off on a Wednesday and got it back the following Monday. What I got in return was a totaled Suburban.

I have a disability as well and highly rely on this truck after 3 major surgeries. My Suburban has rusted in areas that have never seen rust before...just sitting in my driveway. There is no way I can drive it, much less in the Winter the way it is.

Dropped off the boat on a Thursday. Boat would not idle and needed lower unit seals.

Picked up boat two days later on Saturday, paid cash over $1000. This person said that they rebuilt the three carburetors in the outboard, removed lower unit and replaced all seals, adjusted idle. Got the boat home and opened the outboard housing. All three carburetors were dirty and it was quite obvious that they were not removed or cleaned. All three had broken vacuum lines. Motor would not idle without holding throttle up. The next morning there was a puddle of lower unit oil on my garage floor. I opened up the drain screw and a mix of oil and water came out. This person did not replace any seals or even refill the lower unit oil. I have all of this verified by a real outboard mechanic a week later. This person is a crook, and most likely has scammed several others.

When confronted on Facebook, this person said that he cleaned the carbs. The story had changed, first he said that he rebuilt the carbs, not just cleaned. His story changed everytime I asked a direct question as to what was done. Basically nothing was done to the outboard. I requested a picture of the receipts for the carb kits, he claimed that he threw them away and had no reason to keep.

This person is a crook, and most likely has scammed several others.
