CoverWallet, Inc. Reviews

  • Oct 27, 2020

I purchased a Worker's Compensation Policy as an independent contractor. I learned that the policy was not in the correct category. Instead, I was sold a Door-To-Door Salesman Policy. The firm owes me a $25.00 refund from last years policy but they have failed to return my telephone calls and to issue the correct refund.

Now it is time for a renewal policy. I am expected to participate in an audit. I would participate if the firm had been honest about the policy, provided the $25.00 refund and returned my telephone calls.

I called several times and left messages with representatives. I also spoke to a gentleman named Herbie and I cancelled the policy. I have left voice mails for Kevin Nanua, Trevor Waugh at 646-844-9933.

Additionally, I have also sent email to Kevin Nanua ([email protected]) (646)760-8440 who has emailed me again to state they will cancel the policy due to non-payment and Adrian Turner

Customer Success Manager (646) 844-9933.

I have spoken with the auditor. I was told that I was sold the wrong policy. I was also told if I do not participate in the audit, I will be required to pay 200% higher due to Cover Wallet's error.

According to the Center For Insurance Policy and Research

https://content.naic.org/cipr_topics/topic_insurance_fraud.htm

"Issue: Insurance fraud occurs when an insurance company, agent, adjuster or consumer commits a deliberate deception in order to obtain an illegitimate gain. It can occur during the process of buying, using, selling or underwriting insurance. Insurance fraud may fall into different categories from individuals committing fraud against consumers to individuals committing fraud against insurance companies. Insurance fraud, estimated at over a hundred billion dollars per year, not only imposes costs on insurance companies and threatens their competitiveness and future viability, but it is also financially damaging to consumers and detrimental to the economy and society as a whole."

"Overview: While fraud is constantly evolving and affects all types of insurance, the most common in terms of frequency and average cost are: automobile insurance , which is widely believed to be most affected by fraud; workers’ compensation committed by both employees and employers especially during economic downturns and in high-risk industries; and health insurance and medical fraud which can be particularly costly, both financially and in actual loss of lives, due to the complexity and massiveness of the healthcare system."

I receive repeat customer service emails reminding me that the policy will be cancelled unless I pay the renewal.

The email from Cover Wallet also states "Please note that non-compliance may result in an increase of up to or in excess of 200% of the estimated annual premium by AmTrust. Any unpaid balance will be sent to collections and may result in cancellation of current coverage with an adverse effect on your credit history."

I have already purchased a new policy elsewhere after making it clear to Cover Wallet that I do not want to renew the policy and I have cancelled the policy. I have also contacted my bank and requested that no further payments be paid to Cover Wallet.
