Consumer Portfolio Services (CPS) In., repossessed my vehicle in September 2017. The transmission went out due to a faulty (recalled) CVT component. The vehicle was a 2013 Nissan Altima. I was unable to afford the $4 - $6K required to repair the car. Nissan refused to repair the car because the 3 year, 60K warranty was out. It broke down with 60,198 miles. Virginia law : Title 8.9a, SS 6.2-2217 & SS 6.2-2216, states that a lender must provide the borrower 10 day notice prior to the repossession date ( never provided to me). CPS did not list a date, time, or location for the sale. CPS called my phone number utilising several spoofed numbers in an attempt to mask their identify. CPS contacted a reference that was placed on their "Do not call" list. CPS did in fact call this person on numerous occasions and disclosed to them that I was behind on my payments ( violation of the Fair debt collection practices act (FDCPA)). Never deal with CPS...and ensure that they are abiding by consumer protection laws...both federal and state specific laws. If you believe CPS is in violation of federal law don't contact the BBB, contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and your state regulators.

I've been with cps since Nov 2016. In April 2017 I fell sick with cancer and was out of work and was forced to file for disability. I contacted office in July 2017 and explained to representative my situation, the representative then advised I was in loss prevention and she couldn't hold my account any further. I was placed on hold when a Ms. Kathia Rodriguez came to the line, start of the phone call she came off rude and asked can I afford the car, I then explained yes and explain my situation. Ms. Rodriguez showed me no empathy and advised me to pawn some thing or to go ask 50 friends for 20 dollars each to come up with a full payment by Friday or she would have to start process of possible repo, by the end of the call is was in tears. She then advised me ramifications of reports and how my credit would be effected and it would be hard for me to every finance again. At this point I am ready to voluntary surrender this vehicle. Please if offered a loan through customs, do not accept it.

I originally got a auto loan through Cps portfolio in March 2012 for 20000. About a year into my loan, my due date changed. I called and asked why, the lady told me " because you were 3 days late, so we had to change your due date or your car would have been repoed." At that time I told her the new due date would not work for me, I never requested it to be changed. She then stated," there will be no way changing it back." Foward 4 years into the loan, spurts of harassing phone calls, I noticed on a photocopy statement that they share on their website, my balance was only down to 14000. My maturity date is 12 of 2017! I pay 575 a month to these people and I still owe 14000 after 4 years of paying them! I asked about why this was so. They told me well I was late a few times I get that I paid the late fees. They also told me a dusky interest rate changes if I'm late. So I get charged a late fee on top of my interest rate on top of an interest rate if I am late! I told the lady if they put the remainder of my payments all toward principle, it would only be around 10000, I will still owe thousands of dollars after my maturity date. Why!!!?? And what will happen then!!?? She told me she does not know I will find out when my loan ends. I asked for the exact percentage of the breakdown of interest and principle. She said she couldn't send me the paper work. It is company property. I asked her why there is inconsistency on my statements. She said it's the system that determines how much goes to principle and interest. Why is only 60 dollars of my payment is going to principle after 4 years of paying you people! The way they move money on my account in insane! I can not get any real answers from these people! I requested to speak to a supervisor never got a call back! I will be paying this loan for the rest of my life! I need advice. I'm stuck! I need to get out from under these people before it's too late!

I was at work and the guy from cps called me 3-4 times a day asking for me. Did you know that it is against the law to call someone's work place. The guy that called me got me in trouble because he called so many times. I had to tell your employee 3 times to stop calling my work phone or I was gonna repot you guys.
