Christian Brothers Automotive Reviews

  • May 27, 2022

I’m a 17 year firefighter and I just need front brakes, because I was going on vacation and didn’t have the time.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with my rotors! Trust me I know when rotors need to be replaced. The day of my appointment, they tried to up sale me $500 rotors. Said I needed them… without even looking at my truck!!! Wow they must be telepathic!

These people are not Christians… that’s just their cover…to dupe people out of their money.

There was a single Mom in front of me that just paid $700 for her brakes and rotors. Im pretty sure Christian Bros tricked her into buying new rotors. She paid $46 to replace an Air Filter on a Ford Escape!!! (Talk about Highway Robbery!)

STAY AWAY from Christian Bros & Brakes Plus! They are too commercialized. Every up-sale they make, they get a kickback.

Beware!!! (Monument) 2 days ago

If I could give them a negative instead of one star I would!! Got into my car yesterday morning to go to work and the battery was completely dead. There was no power to any device or dashboard in any way. I have a Marine deep cycle battery using that to jump start my car which got the vehicle running. Drove to work and the car was dead again once I shut off the engine.

Called Randy at Christian Brothers Automotive where we had been taking both my wife's car and my car since we moved to Monument 5 years ago. I dropped the car off around 9:30am or 10:00am yesterday morning for them to inspect. They never called with an update yesterday, forcing me to call around 5:30pm before they closed at 6pm.

I was informed that they needed the car overnight because they could not find what was going on. I missed work yesterday as well. Today had heard nothing until I called around 3:00pm today to speak with Randy about what was going on. They informed me that the battery had been installed incorrectly with the positive terminal not on all the way and loose.

Advanced auto parts is where I bought the battery and they had installed it on January 22, 2022 and I let Christian Brothers know that ahead of time. I had received a text message Christian Brothers at 2:30 that the car was done and ready to go. The work had already been done without my approval on the battery problem and billed.

I had asked them to make sure the air unit was working properly and was all I said OK to. My wife picked me up from work and I got to Christian Brothers with Randy telling me that Advanced auto had improperly installed the battery with the terminals loose and the positive terminal on wrong. This was also in writing on the work order from Christian Brothers.

I picked up my car after paying for the work done and let them know that I was on my way to Advanced auto parts here in Monument to go over the problem for a possible refund or have Advanced pay for the auto service. Once I got to Advanced Auto I spoke with general manager J.P. Peltier who once I told him of the situation gave me the impression that he was going to find a way to not make it his problem. By the way avoid Advanced Auto Parts on Jackson Creek Pkwy in Monument as well.

After stating to him that I only wanted them to pay for the service done on the battery J.P. Peltier told me it was outrageous that Christian Brothers charged what they did for the service on the battery. J. P. Peltier then called his District Manager then called Randy. Peltier told me that he spoke with Randy who stated that Advanced Auto had done nothing wrong.

When Peltier came back out to me he told me that his district manager and he will not make good on anything because Randy told him that it was not their fault. What??? Randy put it in writing that they found it to be installed improperly. In writing!! I have the bill that states that. Then I went back to Randy and asked him what in the world was going on.

He back peddled by telling me that the battery could get loose since it was installed. What?? Would not take off any charges saying he had a technician to pay for his time. Dishonest statements and would not soften anything in our conversation or transaction after all the money we have spent in the past on our vehicles! Company was completely on the defensive when I returned. Shame to tell your customer one thing than back peddle for whatever reason!!

I will never bring any business to Christian Brothers ever again and advise others in the Monument area to avoid this company!!! So much for loyal customers!!! One more loyal customer checking out from Christian Brothers!! I see there is another battery repair complaint out there for them!! Shocking!!

They said I failed my inspection due to the emergency break. They said where they would need to review was under my drum so they would need around $1,000 just to look. Plus charge even more to fix the issue.

Of all the things that could go wrong? Breaks? Something they fix, so something they could get paid to fix. I took my automobile somewhere else and passed the inspection with flying colors.

Christian Brothers recently diagnosed (confirming my suspicion) of a bad thermostat. Recently they replaced a thermostat on my car at close to $1,000. (yes, it's an Audi). In the process, the technician made a mistake connecting the hood latch, requiring many more hours to cut off the latch and replace it. with a used part. (It was perhaps an honest mistake and I understood. I was not charged for this and even shared a process for the latch which I found on an Audi forum). It greatly delayed completion of repairs by several days, causing me concern as I wanted to drive several days before taking a trip. The thermostat was done correctly and I have no problem with it. Ancillary issues are the problem. The cost of labor for the thermostat is the same for replacing the timing belt. (belt must be removed to replace the thermostat. i told the service manager to do this. (Conveniently he cannot recall this). Since the timing belt is under covers, it was not apparent that it was not replaced. (Even with covers removed, it is impossible to tell a new belt from one with thousands of miles), Upon picking up the car and remitting amount due, did I did not noticed the invoice did not include replacing the belt. (the cost of the belt was minimal compared to labor.) There were diagnoses for other problems (leaking coolant) which were not related to replacing the thermostat. An error related to one of the cooling fans occurred following the thermostat replacement and may have been due to the thermostat service but I cannot confirm that. (the bumper, front of the car, radiator and cooling fans much be removed to access the thermostat) Unaware the timing belt was not replaced, I sold the car and stated in advertising as having the timing belt replaced very recently. (this is a service which must be done every 80,000 miles and is a major expense) It wasn't until the buyer asked for the invoice that I discovered the belt had not been done. Discussing this with the owner, he agreed that it made no sense not to change the belt during this time, but his service manager was who I told and he denied that I wanted it done. Prior to diagnosis, during and after the thermostat replacement, the response to calls and messages was terrible. I would call and the receptionist be promised a return call which did not happen, requiring multiple calls. My suggestion to anyone having Christian Brothers service your car, (especially a European car), is to insist the technician (Dan) most familiar do the work. Another nice young man, (Andrew) who I can't fault, simply doesn't have the knowledge to work on an Audi. Regardless of what kind of car, I would recommend everything and all expectations be put in writing. Do not assume anything. Verbal communication of instructions or expectations is useless unless when dealing with Christian Brothers unless it is in writing. I would also insist on a inspection and written confirmation on the status of any other systems before and after Christian Brothers performs service. This to avoid any failures that "just happen" to occur during service. In regards to the sale of my car, I am not legally responsible for an "as is" transaction. However, my integrity prompts me to bear the cost of a timing belt replacement ($1,000) for the new owner because I told him the belt had just been done. Since there is no written documentation, Christian Brothers cannot be held accountable. I will chalk it up to a bad experience and will not return to Christian Brothers.

I took my Cadillac 2001 and reported the car shaking. I was told the car needed new gaskets and new plugs and coils. I spent a lot of money. I drove the car to my house and left it there. A day later I decided to test drive it.

The car stalled several times on the road. At times it wouldn't start. If it happens to start once on a while, the car has no power. I cannot risk anyone's life by driving it. I must tow it to them.

No money was spent at the company, however they did remove the valve cover which was what we wanted fixed the part under the car to protect the engine I guess. They tried to over charge us. We decided not to return. Well two days later the wheel locks up! There was nothing else wrong with our car besides the cover that's all that needed to be fixed. We haven't had our car that long. This is a jaguar 2005 s type. Horrible place.

WWe brought our car to Christian Brothers in July. They told us our brake rotors needed to be resurfaced and we needed new pads. They did the job stating the rotors were resurfaced and new ceramic brake pads were installed (over $200). Within 21 days we moved from Orlando to Las Vegas, in that same week, the brakes began to squeak. Then within 5 days they were vibrating. We immediately brought the care to a certified Mitsubishi mechanic.

He stated the brakes were seized and we needed new brakes, Mitsubishi agreed. It took the mechanic two days to soak and remove the brakes. The rotors we original and never resurfaced. The brake pads were distroyed, as everything was fused togther, and they were not ceramic but a cheap metal pad. The new job, to get the brakes restored was over $400.

We contacted Christian Brothers and gave them the mechanics number and we had the mechanic call them several times. Weeks later, they never spoke with the mechanic and are stating that we would have to bring the car back to them (traveling from Las vegas to Orlando).

We sent them detailed receipts, phone numbers and offered pictures. They have refused to refund any monies and insist they did it right.
