Chicago Steam Basketball Reviews

  • Sep 23, 2017

Ron Hicks of the Chicago Steam Basketball team issued our company a fake Purchase Order for computer equpment. After receving the computer equipment, he refused to pay the bills. This event occurred in 2016.

Watch out for Ron Hicks. Thre's lots of newspaper stories of him and his organization ripping off people.

Coach Ron ricks is all about the money. He told me in order to honor the contract I would have to pay 385$ to him and he hadn't even seen me play or I didn't met the team watch was a red flag, It's to a point where I feel that the steam isn't a basketball program at all it's a scam to collect money from players, this is no discipline or organization..When nobody shows up to practices but for games, players that we have never seen or practice with. Play while you sit n watch I don't think it's fair to the players that come to practice and have paid there fees. We had a game vs the Chicago breeze where 16 players showed up. We signed a contract but we haven't gotten paid and we barely have practice. We haven't received any uniforms or practice gear with it States in the contract where did the money go?

Ron Hicks contacted my company for warm-ups for his basketball team. After the order was completed I asked for payment and he tried to issue me a purchase order. I told him we could get him set up on terms if he would fill out the credit application.

He told me how he was a huge baskeball company and he couldn't believe I wouldn't take his purchase order. Then he told me he would send a check. We received the check. So I sent his items to him.

A few days later we receive a notice from the bank that the check was wrote from a closed account.

I contact Mr. Hicks and he intstantly becomes defensive and tells me he is going to get his lawyer involved and I tell him that is fine. He can do that and I will send the returned check to his lawyer. He gives me a phony email address that belongs to him.

I then tell him we are sending this to collections and the police and he tells me we will have payment in a week.

A week goes by and we have no payment. Ron then begins to ignore us. So I start to do some interent digging. I guess I should have done this before we did business with him. There is several reports of this same thing. He has taken money from people who he is promising to send over to play basketball and never sends them and keeps their money. He has wrote them checks out of closed accounts and then stops communicating with them.

When I contact Ron with this information he again becomes very defensives and tells me he is sending the money. Needless to say it has almost been a year and we don't have our money.

Don't ever do any type of business with this man or Chicago Steam. It is a scam!!
