CCC Information Services Reviews

Liberty Mutual uses CCC One to value total losses -

sent to a body shop to estimate damage to rear-ended vehicle

estimator uses CCC One estimation software -

puts in the VIN and it populates the options

determined it was a total loss (frame bent) - no disagreement there

then CCC one provides to the insurance company "comparables" and shows their options

My case - 2011 Honda CRV EX-L - in "normal" wear except leather seats in "dealer ready"

First 3 comparables were local vehicles "inspected" by CCC - all 2011 CRV EX-Ls

with VIN numbers shown

The listing of "options" said that they had CD players as well as the CD changer/stacker -

whereas I had only the CD changer/stacker (again this was populated by the CCC one

estimation software from the VIN)

Also the 3 comps were said to have rear side impact airbags besides the head/curtain air bags

while my vehicle was marked as not having the rear side impact airbags.

I questioned the insurance agent on these items and she said the VIN told them those things.

Although the comparables were dated several months ago, I visited the dealership listed for

"comp 1" and talked to the salesman who said he thought he was the one who sold it. I showed

him the comparison sheet and he agreed there should not have been any differences.

Later I was at a Honda dealership and had the Parts Dept guy look up my vehicle's build via the VIN, and the

same for "comp 1" - he confirmed that the "comp 1" was equipped EXACTLY the same as mine.

Those 2 items were a $150 "options" downgrade for me.

I presented this info to the insurance agent and she added that $150 to the settlement offer.

(Yes, I have read all the ways that they lowball the settlement amounts -

including pushing you on the length of time they will pay for the rental - but

they did get within about $500 of what it cost me for an identical vehicle replacement).

Complaint is that on the Valuation Report, CCC One added options that were NOT there.

In February 2016 I was involved in a car crash. The insurance company declared my Chevy Blazer a total loss.

The insurance company purchased a CCC One valuation report. The CCC One report had multiple violations of professional ethics. The CCC company claims they have revised and improved the valuation methodology. The truth is, they have incorporated unethical adjustments and methodology.

I told the claims adjuster the report was unacceptable, but they insisted the report was "approved" by the Ohio Department of Insurance so I could not refuse it.

The report shows unethical adjustments to the market comparrison vehicles. Example adjustments include arbitrarily reducing vehicles from dealer value to private-party value or from dealer condition to average condition.

The report makes reference to "weighted average adjustments." Those adjustments are unethical and even more severe these adjustments are not disclosed.

Another section in the report shows what they call Vehicle Allowances. In my report the vehicle allowances show a credit in my favor, however. there is no evidence the allowances credit is included in the report total.

Bottom line, this report should be legally disallowed on the basis that it violates unfair business practices.
