We live in a Latino community and the apartment community owner is new. I wish they distributed the rules and regulation before they have an agrreement to a towing company. So the tenant could save the money instead of paying the penalty. Because sometimes there is no way to park after hours specially weekdays after hours.
I was parking at my apartment compound when I came from work and there's no parking space that I could park my truck. So everynight tenants always park at the grass intstead of parking illegally on the driveway since there's no sign of no parking on that site. We think it's ok, and before they tow my truck. Everynight there's a car parking at the grass. If there's no parking lot, where could we park? So we have to park where we could if it's necessary as long as there's no sign of violation or no parking.
So when I'm about to go to work I look outside at 6:30 in the morning and I spotted this towing company towing my truck. I was told to go to the office at 8:00 because that's the time they will be open. I have to go there as soon as they open because I need my truck to work. And that office is 15.1 miles away from my apatrment, and then I was surprised the fee of $40.00 for the mileage, $220.00 for the towing, $75.00 labor charge and then $35.00 for the sotrage. Total of $370.00. I told them this is not supposed to be this much.
The guy said because your truck was heavy. So what if it's heavy. Of course it 's heavy because all my tools to work is in there. That truck was onced towed when it was broke down and was charged $150.00 only for the towed. And the rules and regulation was just distributed each door after a few hours of towing my truck. It is a luck of information to the tenant and exessive charge. It is also like taking advantage of people whom they know that cannot defend themselves because of nationality and luck of knowledge.They are opportunist. They are attacking car owners while sleeping or working at night.
